Fishing Lake Ida
There is adequate access for all anglers; we will cover the shoreline access and boating access below. Shoreline anglers have complete access to Lake Ida’s west and south banks in the Lake Ida County Park. On the east shore of Lake Ida, fishing lies within the City of Delray Park. There is also shore access along the canal’s east side between Lake Ida Road and the I-95 overpass.
Looking more North, nearly the entire shoreline of Lake Osborne’s north lake between Lake Worth Road and 6th Avenue South is accessible to bank fishermen.
The E-4 Canal is located in eastern Palm Beach County and flows south through a series of naturally occurring fishing canals, but highly modified freshwater lakes. The E-4 Canal connects the West Palm Beach Canal (C-51) near Palm Beach International Airport with the Hillsboro Canal (G-08) in Boca Raton. The E-4 Canal offers anglers nearly 17 miles of fishable waters as it flows through the Ida-Osborne chain of lakes and provides anglers access to 670 acres of lakes and 23 additional miles of boatable canals.
This map below highlights the sections between Lake Osborne and Lake Ida of the E-4 Canal system. The central section through Lake Worth, Lantana, and Boynton Beach flow through the E-4 Canal. The canal characterized by sloping sides stabilized with concrete revetment in this area. It ranges in width from 50 to 180 feet, averages about six feet deep, and has a sandy bottom. This section includes 50-acre Lake Eden, 120-acre Lake Ida, six-acre Lake Constantino, 20-acre Lake Leisureville, and 380- acre Lake Osborne.
The Boynton Canal (C-16) boat ramp on Lake Ida is 5.3 miles and to Lake Osborne, it’s 7.8 miles. Traveling Boynton Canal west from the E-4 and the intersection is 1.3 miles to the water control structure. Traveling east the Pioneer Park boat ramp is 0.4 miles and the salinity structure (S-41) near Federal Highway is 1.8 miles. The canals range from 90 to 180 feet in width and averages about nine feet deep around the Boynton area.
The entire length of the E-4 Canal is posted as “No Wake Zone” so boaters should plan their trip accordingly. The E-4 Canal has many low bridges and overhead pipes and care should be taken when going under them.
lake Ida fish species
Lake Ida is a body of water in Palm Beach County, Florida. It’s a year-round fishery due to the great Soth Florida weather. Available species are Common Carp, Peacock Bass, Largemouth Bass, Clown Knife Fish, Panfish / Bluegill, Spotted Tilapia, Pickeral, Oscars, Sunshine Bass.
Not all areas are good for all species, here are some key areas for specific species. The E-4 Canal is one of the better largemouth bass areas and the nearby associated lakes and lateral canals provide excellent bluegill and redear sunfish fishing.
The Boynton C-16 canals have more largemouth bass than most other southeast Florida canals, and 30% are more extensive than 14 inches. Overall, the average size of largemouth bass is 13.2 inches, 1.4 pounds. Fishing for largemouth bass in these areas tends to be best during the winter when the water temperatures are more relaxed and in the evening, night, and early morning during the summer.
Lakes Ida, Eden, and Lake Osborne are the prominent Sunshine bass areas that were stocked. The depth of these areas and the shad population keep targeted to these areas.
In addition, the E-4 Canal anglers can also catch several exotic fishes, including Oscars from South America, spotted tilapia from Africa, and Mayan cichlids from Central America. These exotic species were illegally released and posed a threat to native species.
Oscars spotted tilapia and Mayan cichlids are all bream-shaped fishes. Oscars have a red or orange circle at the tail base and have a thick layer of protective mucus on their bodies.
Spotted tilapia are golden with black vertical bars or spots, and some have red on them. Mayan cichlids are colorful and snapper-like in appearance, with a turquoise ring around a black spot at their tail base. These exotic fishes taste great, and you can keep every one you catch with no limit laws in place.
The quality of panfish in these systems is higher when compared to other area canals. But normal catching techniques can be used, crickets and live worms are common baits for many panfish anglers. Old reliable and conventional fresh bread dough balls still work well, even for Grass Carp are readily available, and cost less.
The bag limit for largemouth bass is five fish per day; only one can be longer than 14 inches. The butterfly peacock bag limit is two fish per day, per person. Which only one fish may be over 17 inches.

Lake Ida Fishing Techniques
Look for canal intersections where two canals come together. Additionally, culvert pipes are generally productive areas for catching most local fish species; these fish love the water flow and ambush ability. Anglers should look for rip-rap areas, shoreline vegetation, and shady areas associated with bridges that provide excellent places to fish. During a strong current in the main canals, look for any protected areas that offer refuge from the wind.
Fish will stage downstream side of non-flowing spillways of lateral canals and behind bridge pilings. The spillways with flowing water are sometimes great, also the downstream side of culverts especially on colder days. Suppose you have boat access, identified by bright yellow buoys in lakes Ida, Eden, and Osborne. In that case, fish attractors are also good fishing spots if near you.
Lake Ida Fl Reviews

Awesome experience!!! We had an incredible time with Mike! He called us the day before and asked us to change locations because the fish weren't biting at his normal place. Well he definitely chose a good place to go!!! Within 20 minutes I had caught a 4+ pound peacock bass!!! It was a beauty!!! We went on to catch a total of 10 fish and 3 different species!! We will definitely be going back next year!!!

Best Peacock Bass Guide hands down I booked an 8 hour peacock bass fishing trip with bass online. They were very informative about the different places they fish. Because we were staying in Pompano beach they recommended I fish Lake Ida. They hooked me up with Capt. John Larsen for my trip. Capt. John reached out to me to finalize things the day before the trip. He asked questions to see what kind of fish I wanted to target. Once I told him that I wanted to mostly catch peacock bass he let me know the fishing style and what we would be doing. He made recommendations for how much live bait we needed and let me know he would have a cooler full of ice and water. We could bring other drinks and food. I showed up at the ramp and Capt. John was all ready to go. We headed to our first place. I am a bass fisherman so he only needed to explain that we needed to skip the bait under the docks and watch the line. My second cast the line jumped and started to move. I reeled down on the fish and set the hook. The fish did not move and it was like setting the hook on a rock. Then the fish just started to dig. Capt. John let me know to keep him away from the pylons and get him into open water. After a brief solid fight Capt. John netted my fish. A 2 1/2 pound peacock bass. We caught over 30 fish that day and I had the best time. Capt. John used my camera and took some shots of me and then I had him fish and took some shots of him. You need to book a trip with Capt. John Larsen he knows his stuff and puts you on the fish!!!

Peacock Bass And Lots More Booked an 8 hour trip with Bobby Kimble on Lake Ida. We were fishing shortly after a cold front and Bobby warned us the fishing might be slow, but we decided to try it, and very glad we did. Ended the day with 32 fish, including 20 peacock bass and 7 other species. We had a blast. Bobby is not only very knowledgeable about fishing, but a ton of fun to spend a day with. I'd highly recommend Bobby to anyone who loves fishing and wants to enjoy a great day on the water.

Some great Peacock fish w/Captain Wayne Fellows Planned on fishing Osborne and Ida for Peacocks with another guide and as it turned out, we wound up getting Wayne Fellows on the first day. It was my brother and me along with our 79 year old father. For us, Wayne was the perfect guide. Knowledgeable, personable, flexible, excellent boat for our needs, a good sense of humor and, most importantly, he put us on fish! He has a good feel for what different people on the boat need or want. We wound up requesting him for our second day on Osborne and that was equally successful. At that point, we decided to fish a third day with Wayne and to go with his recommendation to go to the Everglades for a different look (less size than Ida/Osborne but more fish). It wound up being exactly what he had described and was another fantastic day. Highly recommend him....great trip.

Excellent service oriented guide I booked three days of Peacock Bass fishing with Captain Tim Nichols out of Fort Lauderdale, FL in Nov., 2021. There were two of us, my adult (not teen) daughter and myself. Despite a passing cold-front, we had a great time. We boated 54 fish, mostly all Peacocks and some of them were over five pounds. We also saw lots of alligators one day which was cool. Capt. Tim is very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Unlike some guides I've had, Capt. Tim did not fish. He spent his time keeping the boat in position, netting our fish, and quickly rebating our hooks. He never complained when an errant cast caught a tree. He just motored over and got us unhooked and ready to go again.
The furnished rods and reels worked flawlessly. So did his motors and other equipment. His boat is fast and there is a cooler with ice onboard. He knows the waters and even tells you which areas to focus on. One more thing, he enjoys what he does. I felt like a friend, not a customer. I have no complaints and would use Capt. Tim again, without hesitation. It is my pleasure to give him the highest review - five stars.

Reliable and fun! John was an amazing host! He made our boat ride very fun and his boat was very well kept.. He suggested we meet in the morning instead of in the afternoon because of how hot it can get out for us and the fish. We caught a good amount of fish too! John was also prompt and reliable. If you're looking for a world class top notch service, this is the real deal!

Peacock Bass Extravaganza Captain Dave Manack was ready to go before we even arrived. He was extremely courteous, experienced, and accommodating. His sense of humor made us laugh and definitely kept us on our toes! He was diligent on finding my father and I the perfect spot for the exotic peacock bass that we flew down from PA to catch. Our four hour trip flew by quickly with the sounds of our reels screaming with another fish on the line. We walked away with a once in a lifetime experience and big smiles on our faces. You can't go wrong with this hardworking, Green Onions ringtone playing, salt of the Earth Captain! Thanks again Dave! …

Lake Ida Peacock Bass!!! My son and I went out with Captain Mike today and had a blast! Captain Mike is a professional and engaging guide. His equipment was top notch and I really liked his boat. We pulled a nice amount of fish in the boat on a day they weren’t too active. I was lucky enough to bring in a 5+ lb peacock bass!!! I will be a repeat client and I highly recommend Captain Mike!

Peacock bass in Florida with Wayne Fellows Wayne Fellows We originally booked a six hour trip on Lake Ida. Captain Wayne Fellows suggested we change the location to the Everglades, and we are certainly glad he did. Our goal was to catch a lot of Peacock Bass, and we did just that. We also caught plenty of Oscar, Cichlid, Largemouth Bass, Gar, a couple of Pickerel, and few other types of fish too. We are definitely happy with our day on the water.

Knowledgable and hard working Capt...Great boat! Capt. Wayne Fellows got us on many fish! We originally booked for Lake Ida but Capt. fortunately switched locations due to fishing report. I'm glad he did. The equipment and gear were great and we caught peacock and other species. My 15yr old and I always enjoy talking with the captain while fishing but Wayne wasn't super engaging. Nice guy, but didn't ask my son or I one question about ourselves for a 6 hour trip (other than where we were from). The dude can catch fish and will work hard for you but don't expect boat banter. Ripping through the water in the Everglades on the way to the fishing spots with music blaring was a fun experience I'll never forget.

Captain Bill Boliek was awesome! My brother and I went out for a 4hr bass fishing trip. Our captain, Bill, called the night before to let us know that the largemouth bite was a little slow and offered us a Peacock Bass trip instead. We agreed and had a BLAST!! Bill was super personalable and his stories made the trip fun and entertaining. He put us on the fish! He provided all tackle and honestly just made the trip super enjoyable. My brother and I caught 50+ bass each in the 4hr trip. I highly recommend this trip and try to request Bill as your captain!

Peacock Paradise Capt. Wayne was very professional in his preparation and knowledge. I wanted my wife to catch her first peacock and Wayne made sure that would happen. We got to a great spot and caught a mix of peacock largemouth and even a Mayan Chiclid. Almost non stop fishing and conversation the entire trip. Great day.

Mike the Entertainer and can fish too !! Well fishing for over 55 years and going on many guided trips I have to say this was in my top 3. Getting Captain Mike Groshon was my lucky day. This guy was respectful, funny, very pleasent and just a joy to fish with. He really knows Lake Ida in Delray Beach Fl and all the canals. Every place we stopped we caught, when it slowed down he made his 5 minute call, which was really 15 and we moved. Another spot and caught fish immediately. We caught peacock bass, my first and several large mouth and even some Oscar. Mike is a pro, from beginning to end. Want to fish he's the man. I chose the 6 hour trip 7:00 am - 1:00 pm I got to the dock at 7:02 and Mike was there and ready with live bait (which we discussed prior ) I highly reccommand this Captain as you can see by my review. Enjoy your trip ! Marc D

Great fishing with Captain Mike Groshon Captain Mike is one of the best guides we've had: Knowledgeable about Lake Ida fishing spots, professional, friendly, willing to do what it took to make the day a good fishing day. And a productive fishing day it was! We caught a variety of fish -- largemouth and hard-fighting peacock bass, plus a couple of other species. His knowledge of birds and trees and of the lake only added to our enjoyment of the day.

First Peacocks A great day with Captain Kirk. I was originally aet to fo with another captain who had boat trouble. Ioutdoors switched me iij immediately with no hassle and great communication. Not the best season for Peaxoxk bass but with the knowledge of the captain I put 8 beauties in the boat. As a bonus I also caught two largemouth and two ill Mayan chicks. Awesome day.

Great 1/2 day of Fishing on the Water My six year old and I enjoyed a great 1/2 day of fishing on the water with Captain Wayne Fellows. We caught 9 largemouth bass and 6 peacock bass. Wayne was friendly, knowledgeable and put us right on the spot to catch fish.
Great bass fishing with Captain Wayne Fellows on Lake Ida We had a great day with Captain Wayne on Lake Ida on Saturday despite 20 mph winds. We had planned for Lake Okeechobee but Captain Wayne wisely suggested Lake Ida where we could hide from some of the strongest winds. Using shiners, my brother, 10 year old son and I caught 30 bass in about 3 hours - about 8 peacock and 22 large mouth. Biggest were each about 3.5 to 4 lbs. We easily lost about 8-10 others. We had a very nice time and Wayne was very helpful and engaged.

Captain Brett, our guide, was the best. Brett was professional, courteous, informative, and, most importantly, took us to the peacock bass. All arrangements and communication were handled flawlessly. Everything went as planned. Brett was patient and helpful but also focused on our fishing success. Overall a very enjoyable experience on Lake Ida and the surrounding canals. I highly recommend it.

Morning Bass Fishing Trip Had a great time with Captain Wayne, he was very easy to talk to and it was clear he knew what he was doing! Despite getting caught up in a few trees he was very patient and always willing to help out. It was a colder morning but he still put us on the fish!

Great experience! A cold front was in place and the conditions were tough, however, Captain Mike put my wife and I on a few quality Peacock Bass. Captain Mike's passion for fishing and knowledge of the local water made the trip memorable. Thank you Captain Mike for a great day!

Excellent Day on the water We had an awesome time fishing Lake Ida with Captain Wayne Fallows for Peacock Bass. We came down for a long weekend do do a variety of fishing, and we started out our bass trip feeling kind of bummed because we got in with a not so great deep sea guide service the day before, but our trip with Wayne was definitely a pick me up and the highlight of our 4 day trip. We took his advice and got live shiners to fish with, which definitely paid off! We fish quite a bit but he was great with showing us some new techniques we had never done before. He got us on the fish first thing in the morning and we were on them our whole 4 hour trip. He also gave us some information to get us in the right direction for a deep sea trip if we ever wanted to come down again, which I definitely would. If you are looking for a Florida fishing excursion, look no further than Bass Online. Every interaction with them was easy from booking our trip, to changing our location, all they way through to being dropped back at the boat dock. Every time I had a question they were a quick Facebook message away with a fast response.

Captain Mike Groshon is THE BEST This was a last minute trip and I booked without doing much research. Turns out this was not the best time of year to fish this area. Lots of recent rain and more coming... Captain Mike explained our options and we went fishing. Caught a total of 5 different species of fish in the 4 hrs we were on the water. Mostly Peacock bass and largemouth bass. It was a great day. Plan to head back south during the high season and fish with Mike again! Great guy, great guide, great all around!

Peacock Bass Fishing w/ Capt Mike Groshon Bass Online was easy to deal with last minute and offered a very fair Half and Full day rate. The true hero however was Capt. Mike Groshon. I think we got Bass Onlines best Guide? I took my 14 year old with me who is a good little fisherman but we were fishing docks in tight canals so doing a lot of flipping baits into tight places. We each got hung up and broke lines multiple times and Capt Mike instead of being angry about retying his 14th knot kept telling us,"if ur not getting hung up ur not fishing!" What a great attitude. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and found out so is his wife and his son currently serves Navy intelligence. We had a blast with him and he was so kind to my son I just had to reach deep in my pocket for a stellar Captains tip that was well deserved. This post doesnt offer enough room for me to tell you about what a great guide Mike was. Just know I use about 15 guides a year from fresh water to salt water to fly fishing rivers and salt water flats. Guides can be nice on the surface( they want tips) but you can tell they are a bit prickly regarding your casting or hangups etc....Mike is not that guy. Big Heart and expert bass fisherman. If you can get him...Book it!!!! Mark M

Amazing fishing!!! We has an amazing time. Our guide was Capt Jose Carbonell, he was friendly, knowledgeable and put us on the fish we wanted to catch immediately. We had an amazing time catching a fish basically every couple minutes. Everything was taken care of by Jose and he help make the fishing easy. We were there for peacock bass and caught a bunch. Many were above the 4lb mark providing long, reel screaming fights. Other highlights were the cichlids and clown knife fish which provided tough fights when they rocket out of the water after being hooked. I would definitely go out with Jose again and would recommend his services to everyone.

@jimmy.pringles Wow. Peacock bass fishing Fort Lauderdale with Captain Mike was amazing! Great day of fishing and laughs thanks to ioutdoor adventures, peacock bass Florida!! Caught a variety of species all morning long and the action just got better and better. Good fishing with good people, can’t be beat......honestly a must do if your ever in Florida!

Great Peacock Bass fishing experience with Captain Jose on Lake Ida It was a pleasure fishing with Captain Jose. It was our 2nd trip with him and he always delivers. I had my my 14 and 16 year old sons with me and we all caught large Peacock Bass and a couple of Clown Knife Fish...which can jump forward or backwards. Cant wait to book another trip with him again!

Great Guide and Time on the Water We fished the Lake Ida area and had a great experience. It was like fishing in an aquarium with all the exotic species. Our guide, Jeff Brooks, was extremely helpful and pleasant and he put us where the fish were. We only fished for 4 hrs and caught around 15 fish. I had my 12 yr old with me and he really enjoyed the wildlife and diversity we encountered. Thatâs a very respectable day on the water no matter where you are fishing. We are going again the next time we back to south Florida!!

Fishing trip My 7 year old son, my best friend, and I booked a fishing trip with Mike Groshon to do some peacock, and large mouth bass fishing. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and safe. Did his very best to make our trip , what we expected. Did his best to make sure my son got the trip of a life time! I definitely recommend this company, and definitely Mike !!! Thanks again Mike !

Peacock Bass Fishing on a Canal I never leave any kinds of reviews. I must say this has been the BEST fishing Charter I went on. Captain Wayne was beyond accomadating towards my kids and really made the trip very memorable for us. He really knows all the spots and knows his fishing. 5 Stars and He also does deep sea fishing as well.

Peacock Bass Fishing Went with Capt. Mike Groshon. Mike is a true professional. I highly recommend Mike. If I am in the Ft. Lauderdale area again, I will definitely fish with Mike. Caught 20 Peacocks. If you donât fish with Capt. Mike, youâre making a mistake.
Great father/son trip Great South Florida fishing trip with Captain Brett Isackson. He put us on the fish and kept us there for two days straight. We had a wonderful time. If you've never caught peacock bass, there's nothing like it. Book a trip - you won't regret it!
Peacock Bass Fishing Our guide was knowledgeable. He put us on fish that we normally don't catch in the midwest which was awesome. A few of us tournament bass fish pretty regularly. We just wish we were given options to use artificial lures instead of being told to purchase $140 worth of bait. We hooked up on 6 peacocks that day along with a bunch of cichlids, and oscars. Nothing big, but we enjoyed the experience.

Trip to be remembered I had Captain Mike Groshon for my Peacock Bass charter. Mike was professional and put me on the fish all day. He was exceptional from start to finish. Mike was very hands on in terms of helping and making sure you get your targeted specie and having fun. He takes pictures for you to make sure you can take home the good memories. He handles bait and fish and give you pointers to hook more fish. Fishing Peacock Bass was quite an experience and this was my first time experience.... Won't be my last. Thank you Captain Mike!

Peacock Bass and MORE My friend and I fished with Capt. Wayne Fellows for two days. My goal was catch some Peacocks and Oscars. That goal was reached in the first hour of the first day. Both of us caught well over a hundred fish that included lots of peacocks, Mayan Cichlids, Oscars, and Largemouth Bass. A trip to remember Thanks Wayne

Peacock Bass with Mike Groshon Had the oppurtunity to fish with Captain Mike February 22nd. I love to fish and, being from the Northwest, I thought I would give Peacock Bass a try. Capt. Mike was super knowledgeable about the fishery and he knew how to put me in the fish. The boat and gear were top shelf. This was one of the best guided trips I have ever been on. Mike you made my vacation a 10. Thanks!

Captain Wayne knows how to fish!!!!!!! Weâve been out with Captain Wayne many times and he always puts us on the fish!!! Heâs very well prepared and knows right where the fish are. You canât go wrong fishing with Captain Wayne, he is awesome. We catch more fish than our arms can take with him. He is a great captain also!!! He is always willing to help and always has different baits to try. We always fish with him when we are in town. If you like catching fish, call Bass Online and ask for Captain Wayne.

great service reibale and knowledgeable guides i fished for many years all over south florida, lake 'o' and northern lakes with this company i have fished extensively for exotic species with their main sth florida guide, capt Brett Isaacson. his knowledge of the fish and waters, his patience, reliability, and cordial approach is unmatched. if you fish the lakes, canals, or the evergaldes, or lake 'o' , you should fish with capt Brett and learn all you can

Peacock Bass Went out with Captain Wayne Fellows this morning to fish for Peacock Bass, per his recommendation. Never heard of that type of bass. We used live bait and they put up a good fight. Loved it. Captain Wayne knows the hot spots and does everything to make sure you're happy. I recommend requesting him.

Peacock Fishing with BassOnline This is a great outfit and guide Mike Groshon is top notch. He worked hard to put us on fish for two days and we wound up catching 35-40 Peacocks on artificial and live bait, as well as a Snook and other species. I would highly recommend this outfit and Capt Mike Groshon.

Peacock bass trip with Capt Wayne Fellows This was my first trip targeting peacock bass. Captain Wayne said he would put me on them and he did. We hit several spots he knew were producing and I probably caught 20 to 25 peacocks. It was a great trip with a knowledgeable captain and I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Clowning around Capt. Dave Manack is absolutely the best guide I have ever fished with. This was my 5th trip with him and it just gets better every time. He makes sure you get to the fish and makes sure you have a great time as well. I've used him for family trips with kids to guys trips just out to have fun, and he understands the difference. This trip was one of the best yet, mostly due to the fact we landed an elusive Clown Knife Fish. Awesome trip, thanks again. We had a blast.

Peacocks! My wife and I both grew up fishing and go every chance we get now. Thanks to captain Mike Groshon we had the best day fishing we have ever had! We caught well over 50 fish mostly Peacocks. We're already planning our trip with him again next year. Absolutely amazing fishing trip!!!!

Top water bass and snakehead Went out with Capt Wayne for some top water action. He had me on fish within 15 minutes of being in the boat. I was able to catch multiple peacock bass and snakehead both of which I have never had the opportunity to catch before. We brought plenty of fish in the boat including a few large mouth as well. We fished top water the whole time and they were blowing us up, right up till the moment we left. Capt Wayne is knowledgeable, professional, and will put you on fish. Thanks for the great trip.

Peacock Bass Fishing My husband and I booked a 4 hour trip with Capt Wayne to go peacock bass fishing in the canals off of Lake Ida. This was a âbucket listâ trip for our 15 year old fish loving son. Our 10 year old son who doesnât love to fish also came along. Capt Wayne was very knowledgeable and was a great guide. Although the fish werenât biting real well the day we went, he still made sure we caught several and took pictures of us with the fish. In all, it was a great trip and I would highly recommend using this guide service and Capt Wayne!

Bucket List Trip Capt. Joe Gruny was a knowledgeable, patient guide for our trip today. My 15-year-old son has always wanted to catch a Peacock Bass and this trip did not disappoint. We used live bait and it was worth the extra cost. Joe definitely knew every spot where they were biting. Bass Online seems to have really high standards and multiple required certifications for their guides so your family will be in good hands!

Huge Peacock Bass Bass Online ROCKS !! Fished with Captain Robert Miley at Lake Ida 6/8/18 and caught double figures peacock bass, the two largest 3.5 #, and 4#. Robert Miley is a true professional with years of bass fishing experience. I have fished with him over 20 times the past 3 years and we always catch fish.Going back to Chicago next week but I can't wait to go bass fishing this coming November.Go with Laurie @ Bass Online.

bass fishing lake ida our guide was the best I have ever had ! he put us on the fish right away and my wife caught the elusive clown knife fish ! dave manack knows how to treat customers and makes your fishing trip a fantastic day you wont forget. OLD GUYS RULE !!!
Captain Wayne was awesome! We went peacock bass fishing on lake Ida with Captain Wayne for my sonâs 10th birthday. Captain Wayne was very knowledgeable and prepared and patient! He had everything we needed and he knew exactly where to go to find the peacock bass. Every line we threw in the water came up with a fish on it. My son had a great experience and accomplished his dream of catching a peacock bass! It was a great day! We will definitely return to bass online for our next fishing trip and we will for sure ask for Captain Wayne again. Thanks again Captain Wayne!

Peacock Funday-Friday Went out to Lake Ida in Delray, had such a great time with Capt. Wayne, he was able to set me up exactly where these beauties were at. Caught my 1st peacock EVER within 15 minutes of my trip, it was the best feeling ever. Truly recommend BassOnline.com if you're planning on visiting Florida. They have the best & most important knowledgeable fishing guides in South/Central Florida.

Ida lake peacock 4-2-18 Guide was excellent, Mike did a great job and worked hard for us. Fishing was tough. If I had k own from the reports I had seen on line with bassonline that there was a winter kill and numbers were down I would have tried a lake further south with bassonline. I wish that would have been better explained on the website. 3 of us caught 4 peacocks, size was small, say 12in in a 4 hour trip. He did explain they were on the beds and far enough along that the bite wasn't great and I get that. Like I said, he worked hard for us and did what he could considering condutions.

Captain Wayne worked hard to ensure my kids had a memorable trip My kids were eager to catch some Peacock Bass given the we're from the midwest and have never seen one first hand. We came in on a cold front but Captain Wayne used his experience and work ethic to ensure he found fish for my boys. Wayne knew where to find fish on a cold day and treated my kids like they were his own. Wayne was all over the boat working his butt of to ensure the kids had a successful and memorable trip. We caught 20 fish on a cold day including 9 Peacock Bass. Vacations are expensive and we covered a lot of territory that week but fishing with Wayne was by far the most memorable for my children. Some of our family took another boat with another Captain and they caught 10 fish while we caught 20, enough said. Very hard working Captain that made sure our money was well spent.

Peacock Bass Fishing They could have told me before that I needed to come later in the year when water was warm. Spent around $2400 just to come fly to Ft Lauderdale to fish for peacock and our guide was rather rude. We had no other plan so it was not what we expected, we didn't catch many or very big ones either. Learning experience for sure and a expensive one at that.

Easy Fishing - Great Results - Professional, Friendly, Sincere and Experienced Guide Fished Lake Ida with Captain Wayne Fellows. You immediately feel his friendly, accommodating and earnest knowledge and experience. My brother-in-law is a novice fisherman and was impressed with Captain Wayne's patient instruction. Lake Ida offers Peacock Bass, Largemouth Bass and the rare, tropical Clown Knife fish. The day we fished was less than perfect. Water had cooled due to a cold front and it was windy making catching Peacock Bass very tough. Captain Wayne worked very hard to find suitable areas and we caught Peacock Bass, Largemouth Bass too. Good size fish! And, most impressive is he knows the lake, knows where and how to present bait in all conditions and does not rely on a fishfinder. That is impressive. Highly recommend. We've booked a return trip in two weeks.

Captain Wayne didn't Disappoint! My husband and I had a great time with Captain Wayne fishing Peacock bass. The weather was a bit cold for the bass, but Captain Wayne still put us on some and we had a great time fishing with him. We would highly recommend Capt. Wayne and Bass Online Fishing. If we are back in the area, we will definitely request his services again! He even helped us out with recommendations for the remainder of out trip to the Keys. Thanks Captain!! You Rock!

An excellent week I first want to thank Captain Bret and Captain Bob for making my week. Despite the tough conditions, both were able to get me on many peacock bass. They expertly put the boat where I needed it to be able to cast a fly to some really great fish. The front office moved my days around to ensure I had the best possible opportunities. I would go with them again this week if I didnât have to work.

Great Fishing for Peacocks with Capt Fellows Had 2 great days of fishing with Capt Fellows on Lake Ida, scored 30 combo of peacocks, large mouth and knife clownfish the first day and then went looking for big fish second day and caught 21 almost all peacocks. His Ranger bass boat was an excellent platform and his gear all top notch.

BEST father daughter fishing trip EVER !!!!! Thanks to Wayne !!!! cant begin to say enough good things about my experience with my guide through bassonline.com.. I was taking my dad for a suprise father daughter fishing trip to florida to target a few different species on a few different locations and they were able to not only set me up with idea locations, give me ideas on where to stay that would be centrally located, and even got me a guide that was able to stay with us for the whole trip. they set me up with wayne and it was instantly like fishing with a long time friend!!! He was easy to communicate with even before the trip via text ( my preference) he was not only an absolute blast to fish with, but he was knowledgeable about each of the various locations but was able to not only take us freshwater, but also saltwater fishing. He was honest and never tried to upsell me on the day / time, and in fact even suggested that because of the rough weather to be able to book half days and as long as he remained free we could " upgrade" to full days if the fishing and conditions were holding out. He was the best thing i could have asked for in a guide and made the trip with my dad something we will never forget. There are not too many chances in life to make such awesome memories and I am so glad that he is a part of this one for us... We actually hit it off so well, we have become friends that keep in touch and I cannot wait to return and do some fishing with him this winter!! He will forever be the guide I use and will recommend to everyone I talk to!!!

World class experience with Bass Online and Capt. Mike Gorshon! We recently did a 4 hour trip with Captain Mike Gorshon on Lake Ida, Florida. The weather was crappy, but the experience was amazing. Capt. Mike knew where all the fish beds were and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We had a ton of fun, caught a couple of peacock bass and learned about fishing in south Florida. We definitely recommend Bass Online and Capt. Mike G. He knew his stuff and took care of us from the dock to the trailer.

Lake Ida for Peacock Bass Tony Masiello did a great job of putting me on the Peacock Bass and knew when to make a move when the sun came up. He was very helpful and taught a seasoned fisherman a new technique about Peacock Bass. We had a great time and Tony is easy to get along with even if the fisherman is stubborn in his ways. LOL....

Peacock Bass fishing trip Had an awesome time with my son fishing for and catching a lot of not only peacock bass, but also largemouth bass and knife clownfish! Cpt.Wayne Fellows is the Bomb! He knows his stuff when it comes to finding these fish! Thanks Cpt.Wayne!!! We'll see you on our next trip!

Peacock Bass Fishing on Lake Ida With Captain Wayne Fellows Captain Wayne was a great guide. He was extremely knowledgable of the area and constantly put us on the fish. He was patient, funny, and very helpful. He gave insightful tips based on his experience of the area and fishery. We caught about 40 fish on our trip and had an absolute blast! I highly recommend booking a trip with Captain Wayne and I can't wait until my next visit to Florida to fish with him again as my guide.

Capt Wayne Capt Wayne was awesome. I booked two trips with him for large mouth bass and peacock bass. I was not disappointed. We caught fish at every spot, nice size fish. The 4 hours went by too quickly. Capt Wayne will put you on the fish. He knows how to catch them.
Great bass fishing with Captain Wayne Fellows This is an easy, fun, and productive outing. Laurie and I fished for 1/2 day. We met Wayne at Lake Ida boat ramp and he took us to specific spots where the big bass lurked. We fished with shiners and they were very effective. The lake is known for largemouth bass and peacock bass. We caught so many we lost count. Along the way, Wayne pointed out the many wildlife species that can be found in the sprawling canal system. Wayne was an excellent captain. Aside from knowing where to go and what to bring, he did a great job assisting us with all aspects of the fishing. Charlie and Laurie

Best Peacock Bass and Largemouth Fishing in SoFlo. More than an Excursion, it's an Experience...Bravo, Capt. Wayne!! I was in Fort Lauderdale to host some clients/friends onboard a cruise ship leaving out of Port of Glades, but, as a crazed angler, of course I went down early to get some fishing in. I called last minute, yet Bass Online was able to set us with what was an experience of a lifetime, with a highly skilled and seasoned Captain, who put us on the fish immediately. I booked a 6-hour trip with Captain Wayne Fellows, for myself and a client, close friend, and fellow fisherman from Washington (Accustomed to catching monster King Salmon)...little did he know what to expect from the Peacock Bass, which we now refer to as: "Pea-Hog" Bass, due to the size and ferocity of the fish that Capt. Wayne hooked us up with...His boat, tackle, and equipment are flawless, and when he wants to rip it, he opens her up! He knows the waters of SoFlo so well, he could navigate at high speeds through narrow waterways/shallow bridges, and backwater canals with ease. That made the trip that much better. Not only was this an amazing fishing trip (see pictures), it was also a raw glimpse into the ecosystem of Southern Florida, and the wildlife that calls it home...Imagine fishing with a friend who knows exactly where to go, what to use, and who can anticipate your level of experience, and customize the trip accordingly...That's what we were fortunate enough to experience with Captain Wayne Fellows. Thank you Captain Wayne and BassOnline for an amazing trip. We'll certainly be back!

Great bucket list fishing trip For my Dad's 60th birthday, I planned a 2-day fishing trip with BassOnline. We spent day one fishing Lake Okeechobee with Captain Dave Lauer. Dave knew this lake like the back of his hand. It was a tough day with sunny skies and 30+ mph winds but he found some good spots. We caught roughly 50 fish that day including a couple of 5+ lb. largemouth bass. On day 2, we fished Lake Ida for peacock bass with Captain Mike Groshon. This was very different from Lake Okeechobee in that we were fishing canals. Again, tough weather with 30+ mph winds. But Mike put us on about 40 fish that day including one 7+ lb. largemouth and one 6+ lb. peacock bass. The best part is that my Dad caught both of them. Great trip!

Peacock Bass, brewskies and a whole lot of fun! Two good ol' Nebraskan boys come down to Florida to take in a football game and hoping to do some bass fishing. We decided to use Bass Online and hire Captain Brett to show us the local fishing hot-spots and catch something we've never seen before. What we got was two outstanding days of fishing, few beers drank, some bull shot, and a whole lot of fun! Brett catered to our needs and got us on fish in a very stylish boat. I was using a fly rod and had success both days and caught many species. One thing, STAY OUT OF MIAMI! The place is unwelcoming, especially to white folks. The scenery and fishing is much better North in Fort Lauderdale. We plan on visiting again and will be utilizing Capt. Brett's awesome guide skills. If you've never caught a Peacock, use Bassonline. Both the fish and guides will not disappoint.

Where is Lake Ida Florida?
Located in Boynton Beach, Florida, Lake Ida resides in the beautiful Palm Beach County. Lake Ida is 189.26 acres in size and has truly breathtaking views of the Florida wetland landscape and urban development and aligned north-south with interstate 1-95.
How big is Lake Ida?
Lake Ida has over 2240 feet of dedicated shoreline. Top that off with the maze of intersecting canals and this is some of what makes Lake Ida so impressive and one of a kind. Lake Ida is almost 200 acres in size and active 7 days a week and a favorite to local realtors and sellers.
How do people dress for fishing charter?
In layers is best, but fishing is casual. A sundress for ladies with bikini underneath is not uncommon. Khaki shorts for guys is as dressed up as anyone ever gets, long pants work if you’re not using to the sun. In the same vein, there are no “styles.” Get comfortable with whatever dress code is the norm. But always try to wear light colors as they are cooler.
Where can I park my car at Lake Ida?
As all the boat ramps are in City or County parks, they are very secure. All the parking lots have parking for boats and trailers and passenger cars as well. Currently, there is NO parking fee. You can also find local nearby parking, many places are city meter parking. Your captain can tell you the complete cost, if you use Uber or Lyft there is no cost to enter.
Lake Ida area Piers
look north of the Lake Ida boat ramp to find the closest fishing pier and open to the public for fishing. Additionally, Pioneer Park on the Boynton Canal east of the boat ramp on Lake Osborne is a very exciting and popular pier for shoreline anglers, and directly next to the boat ramp is a convenient pier for anglers.
We might add, the associated bodies of water receive a lot of fishing pressure. So we recommend when possible that anglers catch and release what they can. Especially the largemouth bass and butterfly peacock, as they are great sport fish for many anglers. If anglers don’t release most of the sport fish they catch, these high-quality fisheries will deteriorate rapidly.
Lake Ida Fishing Report
Many of the exotic fish including the peacock bass expanded to Lake Ida after several backs to back warmer than average winters. The butterfly peacock is a world-renowned gamefish successfully introduced by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in the mid-1980s. An investment was made to eat undesirable exotic fishes and provide more sportfishing opportunities for anglers near southeast Florida canals.
Cooler water temperatures below 60 degrees make Butterfly peacock more susceptible to periodic winterkills in the E-4 Canal system. To keep up with current fishing reports read them here.
