Capt Mark Rose is a full-time fishing guide on Lake Okeechobee and surrounding lakes. Do you want to explore catch fish right-a-way? Based in Clewiston, Florida, Capt Mark is from Pittsburg, PA with over 20+ years of fishing experience.

Hop on board his 22’ Ranger bass boat that can easily accommodate groups of up to 4 anglers on board and fishing at the same time. The boat comes equipped with full safety and navigational features so you can fish with peace of mind.
A major highlight to fishing in South Florida is for trophy largemouth bass and peacock bass and Capt mark can help you catch either or both. You can sight cast for peacock bass with artificial lures, all of which the captain will provide. Whether you want to throw grubs, drop shots, jerk baits, or topwater baits, you can have a fishing trip you’ll never forget – and don’t worry, you’ll know what all of these are after a trip with Capt. Mark.
Capt. Mark will let you know about changing regulations for what you can and cannot keep if that is of interest to you. These are not a trips for filling up the freezer, but for catching the most popular sportfish in the country. When you explore the South Florida waters, expect tired arms from catching so many bass.

We also fought some huge drum and had fun catching large mouth bass at the end when the weather turned bad. Mark is a great and knowledgeable Capt. and his new boat rides like a "Cadillac" over the water and is a beauty with lots of room to move about and loads of places to pick a spot to fish from. We motored over in his new "Cadillac" to some really great areas on the South side of Lake Okeechobee. Within 5 minutes, we had bass in the boat on both a top popper and dancing fluke. “ I took my 2 brothers with captain mark rose on an Erie trip. Mark was very honest about the conditions which were not yet gavorable for a consistent smallie bite but our plans weren’t flexible so we went. Mark has a beautiful comfortable 23 foot ranger boat w a 350 outboard that got us to the fishing area 5 miles offshore very quickly. He had state of the art electronics and excellent rods and reels. We made multiple drifts over s reef where there were many marks in the graph and we caught 30 or 40 sheepshead up to 9 pounds. Not exactly what we were aiming for but lots of fun nonetheless. My one brother caught a ob smallie over 5. My other brother lost a larger one when it took to the air. Overall it was a great trip. I would highly recommend a trip with mark to sample the amazing fishery that is Lake Erie and would try to arrange a spring or fall fishing trip for more consistent smallie action. I have been on many guided trips and this was by far the best equipped boat and the best equipment I have have ever sampled. The prices are reasonable and booking thru the website was very easy.”

“ I booked a four day fishing trip with Cpt. Mark Rose through Bass Online for June. I came from across the country for this trip (I'm from a western state), and I was really excited to fish with him. Unfortunately, I elected to only fish 3/4 of my days, and cut my charter short due to a poor experience with Cpt. Mark. I would like to start off with the positives, as I would like this review to be balanced: - Cpt. Mark kindly agreed to a reduced rate for the trip, given that I booked multiple days. - I was somewhat unprepared for the weather one day (steady rain), and Cpt. Mark let me use an extra set of rain gear that he had, which kept me dry during the day. - Cpt. Mark is clearly a knowledgeable guide, who knows Lake Erie well. - Todd, Cpt. Mark's supervisor, was extremely accommodating when I brought issues to his attention. He was non-defensive, constructive, and friendly. Now to the negative, which unfortunately there were several: - I flew in from the other side of the country and burned a day just traveling as Erie is a smaller airport. Upon arrival, I had still not heard from Cpt. Mark on details of the trip (where we were meeting, etc.) into the evening. I texted him to ask him about details, and he called me at around 9 PM the evening before. When I asked him about the specific hours on the water, he said we would be stopping at 2 pm, as he had "other priorities." - From the outset, Cpt. Mark appeared preoccupied, anxious, and somewhat distant as he was coordinating the purchase of a boat. I certainly understand when captains need to conduct some business on the water, but he spent at least 2+ hours on the phone (on speaker, at times), each day on the water. This led me to listen to hold music for the companies he was calling and hearing him complain for an extended period of time about his financial situation. - Although I had paid my full fee for the trip already, he asked me on the first day how I wanted to "settle up." When I told him I had already paid, he still asked at the end of the first day if I wanted to "square up now" implying that he was speaking of his gratuity. Although I had planned on providing Cpt Mark with a handsome gratuity (around 25%), I felt there was an undercurrent of focus on money and tipping, and less on my experience on the water. - While the weather and fishing conditions were not ideal on most of my days on the water, and Cpt. Mark did move to spots that looked quite promising, he fished for extended periods of time on my third day. I understand when captains need to do some fishing to help locate fish, teach a technique, etc, but it was quite frustrating when he was clearly outcatching me on day 3 (he probably outcaught me by a ratio of 4:1). At times, this interfered with my experience, as I would cross his line at times, and it did become frustrating because it took away from the focus of me catching fish. - Cpt. Mark complained about simple requests, such as changing the retrieve on his spinning reels to the side I preferred and loss of soft plastic lures. He had me pulling his trolling motor several times for him. - Cpt. Mark complained about his personal life situation repeatedly, and at times it felt far too personal. I did not need to know about his credit score, political views, relationship, or his debt situation. A little conversation like this is fine, but when it extended throughout the trip, it created a negative, unpleasant atmosphere when I was just there to catch fish and relax. When I brought these issues to Cpt. Mark's manager's attention, Todd was extremely kind and helpful, and he agreed to refund my final day on the water or send me with a different guide. I do appreciate the great customer service on the administrative end - it is clear that Bass Online cares about their customers and their experience, even when it is not great.”

Mark called us the night before and spoke about the plans for our 2 day trip. The possibly largest bass boat on the market was really nice with upgraded electronics that helped the Captain get us on fish quick. Being that our trip was planned right at the end of the smallmouth season, Capt. Rose tirelessly fought to get us on many smallmouth bass. More actually than I was expecting. I have used other guides in the past along the east coat and this trip was by far the best we have been on. And the fish were really good sized. Overall he was very easy to work with and worked hard to make us have a memorable trip for the 2 days we were with him. We do plan on coming back in the fall or spring when smallmouth is at its peak. In the 2 day, 6 hour daily, trips we were out. We caught about 40 fish, with 30 plus of them being smallmouth. The others were 3-4 largemouth and 5-6 drum. And 1 bowfin. Several of the smallmouth were easily in the 4# plus and a couple over 5#. I would highly recommend Captain Mark Rose if you are looking for a guide for smallmouth in the Lake Erie, Erie PA area. I know he fishes many other areas, but this was the area we used him in.”
