TIPS FOR Everglades
There is no “special” magic bait for the Florida Everglades bass fishing. The live bait, or what the locals refer to as shiners, will always work best. Always start your morning with a topwater lure, spinnerbaits, and chatter-baits when the wind is blowing hard. Plastic worms are a go-to all the time, especially on those hot, calm days.
Double-digit bass is not typical for the Everglades, but the average bass gets pretty fat, and big fish are around 8lbs. Use floating lures near a structure (lily pads, sunken trees, etc.), commonly known as hollow body frogs, and hold on tight. Be sure to compensate with line size and use braided lines to get them out of the Lilly pads; generally, 30lb to a 60-pound braided line is best.
MONEY TIPS
You have available everything you need, including tackle; all that is missing is you. Driving down the Florida Everglades canals is genuinely the ultimate fishing experience before you leave for your next trip. Make you read an updated Everglades fishing report to cut down on the learning curve. Another favorite among local ways to catch Everglades fish is on a fly rod, using any topwater bug, fly, or lure. Seeing the bass come to the surface and suck that fly is something you won’t soon forget.
An excellent location to teach yourself fly fishing or someone else. You’re able to catch a lot of fish and experience what it’s like to fight a fish on a fly rod. For beginners, start with a long rod; this is a starting point to get the basics of casting down. Then work on accuracy and distance, which will help you land more fish. Everyone wanting, knowing, or with interest in bass fishing, it’s the place that is magical over other locations.

Everglades FISHING TECHNIQUES
The best times to fish the Broward County Holiday Park are from May to July. This time of the year offers quality-sized fish in the 3-8lbs range, and significant bass numbers caught per day. On weekends, boat traffic can be a problem, but mainly at the boat ramp and parking lot. It’s known to Floridians and quoted by the Fish and Wildlife Dept as the #1 fishery in Florida for the number of fish caught per hour.
Everglades is legendary for the number of bass caught per outing; plastic lures are the most successful. It could be in the forum of a Senko, Lizard, Swimbait, and they continue to produce year after year. Ranked consistently as one of the top lures for the everglades is a topwater lure, and the Zera spook by far is the local favorite and produces the best for big fish.
The good thing about Everglades fishing is you don’t have to be a professional angler and know all the specifics about the lures mentioned. Best of all, go fishing; take what you have. It will probably work. You can enjoy fishing with both artificial lures and live bait. Wild-caught live shiners are ultimately the bait of choice everywhere when looking to catch that trophy bass, but domestic shiners also work very well in the Everglades.
Bass anglers can have success also using deep-diving crankbaits and Carolina-rigged worms in deep river channels. Early morning and late evening topwater bites can be right near the flats along the creek channels. Cichlid fisherman can enjoy catching on live minnows or jigs along the edges of the dropoffs. The action is red hot almost all year round.

Broward County Holiday Park BOAT RAMP
Broward County Holiday Park airboat vendor does not own the boat ramps; they are FWC boat ramps. However, the FWC and Broward County work together to keep access. It is not the best place to use, and NOT at all angler friendly; minutes after arriving, you understand the people running the park don’t care about boater access. The complete focus is on big Airboat operations and selling tickets.
With that said, you have the same right to the boat ramps as anyone. There is a new double boat ramp to the west of the front parking lot, very easy to use, and has good docking. Based on the time of day, it can be a mess getting in and out of the ramp due to tour buses and people for the airboat tours. Located rear of the main building in a field, in the parking lot for your truck and the trailer. Again an attempt to get anglers not to use this location.
More on Holiday Park Boat Ramp
The fishing in this area, especially when water levels are lower, is fantastic and worth fighting with the airboat operation. But the poor access and rude airboat drivers will make your trip, not the most satisfying experience. We highly recommend calling FWC by clicking here if your experience is less than pleasant due to the airboat operation.
Enjoy the area without limits; under regular hours, this location is open 24 hours a day so you can enjoy incredible Everglades fishing. The Everglades is a family fun trip, a day of fishing in the Everglades at Broward County Holiday Park is a unique way to enjoy the wonders of the outdoors – quiet, calm, peaceful, and relaxing. The beauty is fantastic, and you’re sure to encounter a few wildlife surprises during your adventure.
