Captain Joe Gruny grow up in Medford, New York, although I grew up surrounded by salt water, fresh water bass fishing was my love and passion. I would spend the summer days fishing the lower Yahpank Lake exploring every bit of the lake. Captain Joe began following his passion to fish at an early age of 4 years old, my earliest memory was fishing with my father and uncle for Blue Fish in the Great South Bay. Dad wasn’t interested in bass fishing at the time, he still always encouraged me to fish and enjoy wildlife, he was my biggest influence.
Later in life finding himself in Lake Worth, Florida it was Lake Okeechobee where Joe caught his personal best bass of 12 Lbs 4oz largemouth bass. Joe fishes Lake Okeechobee ,the Florida Everglades, Lake Ida and the Miami canal system for Peacock Bass. Joe has become a well-established guide of these waters and his family without question is his biggest supporters.
Captain Gruny is also a avid tournament fisherman with several trails with countless top ten finishes and several wins.
Many people wonder why they should use a guide, it’s simple. Children of all ages like feeling as though they are included in the family’s plans and activities, a fishing trip with a professional fishing guide is a great way to teach lifelong skills, to instill some responsibility in children while having fun. Children will not remember their best day of TV, but they will never forget their best day of fishing while on a family vacation.
