Clewiston fL Fishing
Welcome to Clewiston Fishing & Tours
Clewiston Fishing is the most famous location on Lake Okeechobee for several reasons, but no other than its home of Roland Martin. Even with his enormous notoriety, the size of 730+ square miles of the lake is bigger. Clewiston is a small town known as America’s sweetest because of the rich history of Sugar farming. You can find some shopping in urban culture; beaches are about 1-1/2 hours away from where you can get fine dining.
But second to none is the Clewiston fishing…who needs that stuff at the lake. You recognize that Clewiston on Lake Okeechobee is as unique as the lake itself. Our Okeechobee marina is convenient no matter where you visit or drive from the east or west coast. While other fishing services sell you on their location and why it’s the best…we’re here to serve you at the best place!

He was right. He was smart about not getting too far out and onto fish. His boat was amazing. Large Ranger that was the most stable, smooth running fishing boat I have ever been on. I never once felt we were in an unstable situation despite the high winds.
Mark got us onto big bass…every bass was the size you might catch once in a week in lakes in Canada. My forearms hurt after reeling in these bass!!
Mark has the boat, gear, and knowledge to put you in a position to catch amazing smallmouths. It’s up to the fisherman from there but he puts the odds of success in your favor!

Our Best Bass Trip! I've been lucky to fish with some good guides in my life and Capt. Mark Shepard moved to the top of that list the other day (1/13/21) when he took us out on Okeechobee. We caught more bass than you'd believe so I won't disclose the number but as important we had a great time. Captain Mark has some stories he likes to share as well as accurate information about the big O and surrounding environment. You can't go wrong with Captain Mark Shepard. Book it!

Ripping lips all day! I had an amazing time Bass fishing with Captain Mark Rose and Mark Shepard. Both of them are true professionals. We fished 2 days back to back each 8 hour trips. We were hooked up on Bass right away and it lasted ALL DAY! They did NOT disappoint! I canât wait to come back.

Awesome time with Captain Mark and Brett Took a short trip to Fort Lauderdale to do some fishing . Spent a great great day on the water with captain Mark Shepard. Not only did I catch my personal best but between me my wife and Captain Mark we solved all world problems lol. Then Kim and I spend a day In The Everglades with Captain Brett Isackson. The weather was not in our favor that day but we still caught fish. Captain Brett did everything he could to get on on the bite. But bad weather is something even he can’t control.
Looking forward to fishing with both captain again. Thanks guys

Bass fishing at it`s best Captain , Mark put me on the bass . Had a great 6 hour trip caught 12 bass and 6 other fish . I fish a lot but you can always learn from a pro. Bring a camera ,sun screen ,sun glasses and a big hat. Get ready to have fun.Out of Clewiston Fl.

2 Trips = 10 Stars I booked back to back trips with Bass Online. We fished two different lakes with two different guides but both were very professional. Both provided all of the tackle, bait, and necessary knowledge to have 2 very successful fishing trips. The number of bass we caught and the quality of bass we caught far exceeded my expectations considering we were fishing in late July in FL. I would absolutely use Bass Online again. Thanks for a great experience.

Bass Fishing Any day out with Mark Shepherd is a good day! Highly recommended as we are repeat customers An experience angler and former Pro like Mark is what you need when tackling the Big O! No matter the weather you will catch fish! Mark has always been professional, upfront and completely honest in the forecast. Trust no one else when making your selection

Mark Shepard Review I look forward every year to fishing with Mark Shepard. He is the ultimate guide; friendly, knowledgable, patient, great teacher and extremely hard working. He works tirelessly to put you on fish which is all you can ask for in a guide. I have fished with a lot of good guides but Mark is in a class by himself.

Outstanding Experience I took my 10 yr old son fishing.. I caught a 9-1/4 lb Bass first hit.. My son caught a 7-1/2 lb Bass.. Mark Shepard guided us, if you can book Mark.. A professional all the way.. He made it happen for us, my son went on to catch more than 60 lbs of fish.. I will definitely return and fish with Mark.. A crazy good time..

Dream come true Fishing Lake Okeechobee for giant largemouth bass has been a bucket list item of mine for a long time. Our guide Mark Shepard, was very honest and realistic of slow fishing conditions but gave us his very best effort and put me on an Okeechobee giant. It was a dream come true for me. We will be back in December.

Another Great Trip Shout out to Mark Shepherd for another great trip for my Dad and son!! They had so much fun and caught some great fish and will definitely be back for Trip 3 as soon as possible! Highly recommend a guided trip with this group!! Keep up the good work!!
Challenging but rewarding Captain Mark Rogers was great, he knew I preferred to fish artificial baits, and equipped with that information, he navigated us into the grass where the morning bite was good. When that began to taper, he was quick to move our location in an attempt to find the fish amidst the glaring mid day sun. He was a great source of knowledge and had no qualms about sharing it (I asked A LOT of questions). To wrap up the day, we spent the last hour or so winding down fishing shiners, while being accompanied by a family of Manatees, who seemed to be intrigued by our presence, as they were within inches of the boat at times. The day climaxed when I landed a monster 7.5 pounder! I will not hesitate to book with Mark again in the future.

Great fishing Lake O My wife, 2 teenage sons and I had a great afternoon fishing Lake Okeechobee with Captain Mark Rogers. He had a nice boat that fit us all and he was very fun to fish with. We fish for Bass in Michigan, but mainly with artificial bait. We fished Lake O with Live bait. It was different, but fun. Capt Mark took time to teach us how to hook the big bass. We fished multiple spots to keep the action going. We caught enough to make us want to go back and we will definitely go with Capt Mark again.

FANTASTIC ADVENTURE with Cpt. Shepard We are family with relatively no fishing experience. For his 10th birthday, my son asked to go fishing. He'd been fishing but no luck catching any :-( He brags to anyone who will listen how he caught multiple fish on his birthday. My 11 y/o daughter who swore she was not going to fish, couldn't resist getting in on the action. Cpt. Shepard was awesome, very professional with a great sense of humor - WE SHALL NEVER FORGET OUR 1st FISHING TRIP on Lake Okeechobee or OUR 1st FISHING CAPTAIN!

Cold front was'nt a problem. On the morning of my fishing trip it was only 41* even a little cold for this Minnesotan. But that wasn't going to be a problem, not much different than springtime fishing at home. I fished with guide Mark Rogers. He was everything anyone could ask for. On time, very friendly and most of all knew where the fish were. (I did get a giggle about all the clothes he wore to go out, bibs parka, hat and face mask) But he isn't from Minnesota so he gets a bye on that one. His boat and gear were all in perfect working condition. We fished with live shiners. I had never fished with them before, this also was my first time in Florida and fishing the BigO. The action was almost nonstop. I caught a lot of bass and I even caught a 5 lb. catfish. My biggest bass was a nice 5+ not really what I was looking for but two of the fish I lost coming to the boat were sure the ones I was looking for. Mark was great to fish with very knowledgeable about the lake and things around the surrounding area. I would recommend using him for your fishing adventure. Thanks again Mark for making my adventure all I could ask for.

amazing two days of fishing!!! Captain Mark Shepard gave my two 14 year old boys two amazing full days of fishing! They caught so many fish down in Clewiston Florida that we lost count! Captain Mark kept these boys laughing and entertained and gave them 100% of his attention! Both boys caught their personal best 8 1/2 and 7 3/4 lb bass! I highly recommend bassonline! This is our 2nd year with them and will definitely use them again! We were not even out of the parking lot and these boys were begging me to plan another trip here with them! Thank you Captain Mark for making this trip an amazing one!

Best Guide Bass Online's Mark Shepard is the best guide I have ever used. I have been fishing for 65 years. I've been using guides for 30 years. Mark is by far the best. He knows Lake Okeechobee like it was his living room. When conditions are bad Mark will figure out something different to find the fish. Last week I fished with Mark on Okeechobee for 3 days. I had a friend with me for 2 of the days. In total my friend and I caught 202 bass in 3 days. The biggest was 8 pounds and we had several 5-7 pounders. There was a big tournament on the lake on the first day. Most of the tournament anglers were fishless. Mark figured out what to do and we caught 57 bass that day when most people never got a bite. Too bad we weren't entered in the tournament.

Awsome Trip Spent a Great day on the water with Captain Mark Shepard. This is my second trip with Mark. Always a fun time. Mark is very knowledgeable about Okeechobee. Mark is one of those guys who takes care of the client. Itâs your day on the water, you do the Fishing and Mark makes you feel right at home. Canât wait for the next trip. Everyone at bass online thank you for putting it all together. 5-STARS.

Great time I Fished with two different captains for two different types of fish, captain Mike Groshon for peacock bass on lake ida, and Captain Mark Shepard on the big âoâ ( lake Okeechobee) they both worked hard to put me on the fish and it was two great days on the water boating lots of fish

Honeymoon Fishing Capt. Mark Shepherd was great, he was really friendly, courteous and put us on the fish even just after hurricane Irma and was really impressed on his professionalism and would recommend to any fisherman wanting to fish lake okeechobee, thanks again Mark you guys are awesome

Okeechobee 6 hour fishing with Captain Mark Shepherd everything went off on time, equipment was up to date and performed well. Our guide, Captain Mark Shepherd put us on big bass in hot August and we caught several fish, which is unusual in August. Captain Shepherd worked very hard at baiting and netting our catches. I heartily recommend him for a successful fishing venture.

Best Guided Trip Ever! I'm writing this review on behalf of my dad and my teenage son⦠I booked them a three day guided fishing trip with Mark Shepard and he was beyond amazing with our family! My dad had always dreamed of fishing on Lake Okeechobee and it finally came true and he cannot stop talking about how awesome this trip was! Mark was be on what we could ever ask for on a fishing guide, lots of fun, very helpful, the list goes on and on! I can't say enough good things about Mark and his personality and his guiding abilities! If ever in doubt don't be and just book this trip he won't be disappointed! We are already planning a trip back for January or February maybe next year the next!

Mark Shepard the best guide in the world I have been bass fishing for 60 years. I have fished all over the world. The best guide I have ever used is Capt. Mark Shepard. He knows how to find the bass on Lake Okeechobee. On my 69th birthday he put me on an 11lb 3 oz bass, the biggest of my life. I have used mark for 10 years and will continue to go to Florida every year to fish with Mark. I should'nt give him such good reviews so he would be available more often for me but too many people already know how good he is.. If you call BASS ONLINE and can't get Mark don't worry. Ask your guide to call Mark to find out what the fish are doing. All the guides at BASS ONLINE work together to make sure you have a great time.

Probably my best day of fishing ever -- No REALLY -- ever. I've been using Bassonline for many years now and their guides have always put me over fish every single time. Not every trip produces the kind of numbers and bag weight i enjoyed this trip but every trip is pure joy for the serious or even just recreational bass fisherman. This trip Captain Mark Sheppard showed his skill and experience finding not just lots of fish but big ones. had over 75 fish in the boat with half a dozen over 5 pounds, at least a dozen over 4 and just a handful under a pound. This while others fished around or near us getting next to nothing. Captain Mark gets full credit for this marvelous day of fishing. I will definitely be back!

The BEST Bass guide on the Big "O" We've fished with Capt. Mark Shepard for years and had our usual terrific outing on Feb. 16th! Fishing was challenging, but our 5 dozen shiners yielded over 40 fish - many in the 4 to 8 pound range. Mark seems to know the Big "O" like the back of his hand and some unbelievable bass highways! In addition to his bass expertise, Mark is an entertaining story teller and a genuine nice guy! We'll keep on booking him for future trips. You cannot go wrong with a bass fishing trip with Mark!!!!

Good 4 hour Tour We had Captain Mark Shepard and he was great. His boat was great too! He put us on the fish right away and we caught some decent fish. The service is great but you also have to factor in fishing license for each person as well as live bait. 6 dozen shiners are not cheap. All in all my wife and my son (me too) had a great time. We did have to drive about an hour to get to the fishing. We met at the marina and parking was perfect. Captain Mark recommended a small town restaurant that was good.

Bass online.com Two friends and I contacted Bass Online and chartered a boat and fishing guide to take us Bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee. The guide we had was Mark Shepard. He was as good as they come. Besides taking us to the perfect spot (my friends and I must have cost at least 50 bass) he was both courteous and professional. We could not have asked for anything more that what was given to us.

ABOUT OKEECHOBEE FISHING IN CLEWISTON FL
Clewiston fishing has been the most famous location on Lake Okeechobee for several-reason. For no other than it’s the home of Roland Martin. Even with his enormous notoriety, the size of 730+ square miles of the lake is bigger. Clewiston is a small town known as America’s sweetest town. Rightfully so, because of the area’s rich history of Sugar farming.
You might not know about Clewiston, Fort Myers, the closest town from the west coast, and Palm Beach, the leading destination from Florida’s east coast, contenting to Lake Okeechobee. Many forget about the spectacular freshwater fishing in Clewiston. So while your friends are out cruising around in the ocean getting sunburned, you will be enjoying the sights and sounds of the world-famous Lake Okeechobee in the sweetest town around!
You can find some shopping in urban culture; beaches are about 1-1/2 hours away from where you can get fine dining.

Okeechobee is home to a wide variety of beautiful locations to fish. When fishing in sunny Central or South Florida, a destination is always near you. There is excellent fishing on both the east and west coast, whether deep sea or inshore fishing. Species like Big Snook and Redfish, and you can expect almost everything on Lake Okeechobee.
But hold on; freshwater fishing also has its share of exciting species. The trophy bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee is still quoted as the #1 bass fishing in the world. And while the local area has its share of trophy bass fishing lakes, it has several other species that may pique your interest. Okeechobee fishing trips are also home to the excellent-eating black crappie, or speak.
With some luck, the boat ramps will stay open and maybe even get rebuilt. Still, we wouldn’t bet on anyone reducing the airboat operation.
Clewiston Fishing Techniques
The best times to fish the Clewiston area of Lake Okeechobee are from December to June. This time of the year offers quality-sized fish in the 3-12lbs range, and significant bass numbers are caught daily. Mainly because December starts the first Spawning month and continues for almost six months; this is what makes Okeechobee so good; you can fish for pre-spawn, spawning fish, and post-spawning fish all at the same time.
On weekends, boat traffic can be a problem, but mainly at the boat ramp and parking lot. It is so big once out on the water that sometimes you may never see another boat.

Lake Okeechobee is legendary for the number of bass, most of which are caught on swimming baits. This could be in the form of a Lizard, Swimbait, or Swim jig, and they continue to produce year after year. It is ranked consistently as one of Lake Okeechobee’s top lures, a full water, precisely a walking bait. The Zera spook, by far, is the local favorite. It produces, to this date, the best for big fish.
The good thing about Lake Okeechobee fishing is you really don’t have to be a professional angler and know all the specifics about the lures mentioned. Best of all, go fishing; take what you have; it will probably work. You can enjoy fishing with both artificial lures and live bait.
Wild-caught live shiners are ultimately the bait of choice everywhere when looking to catch that trophy bass. Bass anglers can also successfully use deep-diving crankbaits and Carolina-rigged worms in deep river channels. Early morning and late evening topwater bites can be right near the flats along the creek channels.
Cichlid fishermen can enjoy catching on live minnows or jigs along the edges of the dropoffs. The action is red hot almost all year round.
Clewiston Boat Ramps
The City of Clewiston boat ramps is minutes away from U.S. Highway 27. Turn north on Francisco Street, the last street light in town, when exiting to the east. Continue straight past Roland Martins Marina. You are then left at Hoover Dike Road, the first turn after the fenced-in area with boat storage on your left. Follow this road, it curses to the right, and the four ramps and two floating docks are on your right side.
The ramp is in a basin outside the lake or Hoover Dike, requiring you to travel through the Clewiston lock. You must idle through the safety to access the lake from these ramps. Clewiston does not own the boat ramps; they are FWC boat ramps.
Use this ramp if you have your boat or rent one of ours. This is the most popular approach if you do not choose to rent but meet a local professional guide. Enjoy the area without limits; under regular hours, this location is open 24 hours a day to enjoy the amazing Lake Okeechobee. Lake Okeechobee is a fun family trip. A fishing day is a unique way to enjoy the outdoor wonders – quiet, calm, peaceful, and relaxing.
The beauty is fantastic, and you will undoubtedly encounter a few wildlife surprises during your adventure.

Okeechobee Fishing Tips for Clewiston
While Clewiston is on the Southwest corner of Okeechobee, it is not in Palm Beach but in Hendry County. It is situated only 75 minutes away from North Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. But it is the most popular choice for customers traveling from Fort Myers, Naples, and Port Charlotte.
Lake Okeechobee’s reputation has continued for many years as producing the biggest and best largemouth bass fishing in South Florida. On Okeechobee, the two primary ways to fish are with artificial lures or wild shiners. Why are these the two most popular? Let’s not overlook fly, shoreline, and even night fishing for many.
Bass fishing on the “Big O” with wild shiners is the preferred bait for most anglers for the opportunity at a trophy bass. It just happens to be the natural food that they feed on daily. Wild Shiner fishing became very popular many years ago when anglers fishing Okeechobee for largemouth bass would see their feeding habits.
It has become an increasingly popular choice because once you’ve experienced this style of fishing, you’ll quickly recognize that it’s much more than just sitting and watching bobbers.

We use a special kind of tackle and secret hooking and rigging of shiners that make it unique and productive. Like some of you, we also prefer to fish with artificial lures as much as possible. When fishing Lake Okeechobee with artificial, you will choose spinning, baitcasting, or fly fishing. Flipping and pitching on Okeechobee is always really popular; it’s still an excellent lake for topwater plugs due to its shallow depths. We are open to any techniques you’re interested in learning about; just let us know.
You have available everything you need, including tackle; all that is missing is you. Fishing Lake Okeechobee is genuinely the ultimate fishing experience. Before you leave for your next trip, make you read an updated Lake Okeechobee fishing report to cut down on the learning curve.
Another favorite among local ways to catch Okeechobee fish is on a fly rod, using any topwater bug, fly, or lure. Seeing the bass come to the surface and suck that fly is something you won’t soon forget.
