Catching Bass Using Spinner Baits On The West Side Of The Lake

This is Capt Mark Rogers with the Lake Okeechobee fishing report.

Today, we fished out of Harney Pond and the north shore. We were out on the water before daylight, expecting a great topwater bite from the prefrontal conditions. As it turned out, the morning was very slow. We only caught a few small fish, and they even ignored the shiners.

The afternoon turned out to be a lot better, though, with a little bit of cloud cover and a little bit of wind, and the bite on the spinnerbaits turned out to be very good.

We didn’t catch any monster fish, but we did catch some very good-quality fish, and we had a lot of fun.

Later this week, we are going to have a full moon, so we are planning for a lot of big fish to move. Let’s get your favorite bait for largemouth bass and catch that fish of a lifetime.

That’s it for now. For all your fresh or saltwater fishing adventures, go to BassOnline and start the new year with a bass fishing trip on the famous Lake Okeechobee. This is Capt Mark. Until next time, tight lines, everyone.

For most of my life fishing has been a passion. Over the years I have fished bass tournaments across Pennsylvania and on lakes and rivers up and down the East Coast. I have participated in B.A.S.S., FLW Stren Series, Walmart BFL’s, and ABA tournaments along with finishing 2nd in the 2012 Keystone Bass Classic on Lake Erie, to name a few.

Bass Fishing On Lake Okeechobee With Capt George

Hi everyone, Joe here, out on Lake Okeechobee with Capt George, We went fishing out of the south end of the lake today.

the weather was beautiful and little windy out, and the water was quite clear, besides the ripples everywhere.

we fished for a couple hours and caught quite a few fish and a hand full of nice large Bass, I was fortunate enough to catch my personal best at 7 and a half pounds.

when it hit I knew I was in for a fight, I set the hook and my drag screamed and I thought for sure it was going to get off, but by slowly working her in closer and closer I was finally able to get her in the boat.

we released her back into the water, to live to fight another day.

this was an experience of a life time and I’m hooked on Okeechobee and hope to do it again someday soon.

Any ways if your looking for a guide service that goes above and beyond the call of duty give BassOnline a call you cant go wrong with them.

May 23 – 25 fish report – Lake Erie on Fire

Lake Erie is on fire, Todd and Lori from Ft Lauderdale, Florida, come up to cash in on Lake Erie gold, and they crushed 100 plus smallmouth. A fantastic three days on #lakeerie with Capt Mark Rose. We save the best for the last day, ten over 4lbs, five over 5lbs, and countless 3lbers. This was the biggest at 5.8 lbs. A great city and experience highly recommended to all my angler friends. Columbia Sportswear, Abu Garcia, Minn Kota.

Explored last by Europeans. Louis Joliet, a French explorer, is credited with its discovery in 1669

The water temp is generally in the low 70s in the summer, which makes Lake Erie on fire and quite a popular area. While in winter, the temperatures drop to freezing, and the water freezes over more than any other of the Great Lakes because of how shallow it is. The average depth is around 62 feet the maximum depth is 210 feet.

In the lake’s shallowest area, Water is around 25 to 30 feet, which allows strong winds to kick up powerful waves.

Lake Erie on Fire Continues

The Lake draws many sports anglers and has a large walleye fishery. guide boats take visitors out onto the lake to catch the smallmouth bass. Once frozen over, Ice fishing becomes very popular.
The Lake has its own legendary monster Bessie most likely a massive sturgeon.

The lake invaded by mayflies in 99 was viewed as a sign of the lake’s returning health and a balance of nature.

Its rich soil causes the region to have many concord grapes. Lake Erie itself also has algae blooms once in a while.

Lake Erie is a tail-like shape, and that is reflected in its name, which is erie lhonan, the Iroquoian word meaning “long tail.” The lake is around 241 miles long and 57 miles wide and has 871 miles of beautiful shoreline, including its islands.

Lake Erie on fire was formed by a receding glacier making it relatively young — around 4,000 years old.
