About Everglades Fishing Guides
The opportunities are endless when fishing in South Florida. The canals for peacock bass, the weedy banks for Snakehead, deep holes for Clown Knife fish, and the shallow flats of the Everglades for trophy largemouth bass are just some of the opportunities. Fishing with a South Florida fishing guide will yield numerous peacock bass and largemouth. These species are plentiful like Oscars, so going on a half-day charter will get you great action for the whole family. If everyone is enjoying themselves, extend the trip by an hour or two!
The numerous area around South Florida boasts great convenience and opportunity for anglers. Aside from the great freshwater, there are great offshore species like Mahi Mahi, tuna, grouper, snapper, and amberjack, while fishing inshore for snook, tarpon, redfish, and other sport fish.
South Florida is the mecca of fishing, and you’ll have no trouble finding a fishing guide to take you out. Fishing charters are like a 7-11, there on every corner, so you can’t use that excuse. But the question is, who do you hire? How do you know?

What to Expect on Your Charter
Get ready for an action-packed day on the water! Our Everglades fishing charters are designed to maximize your fishing time and provide you with a truly authentic experience.
Look for this in a Fishing Guide
Don’t use a booking service; the captain is paying them a commission. Use companies like Bass Online, where we all fish! We’re a group of South Florida fishing guides that have gotten together as a TEAM. Under the best conditions to provide you the customer, the most satisfactory service in the area that the South Florida fishing industry has ever seen.
The finest bass fishing guides in South Florida on “the Everglades, Lake Ida, Lake Osborne, Markham Park, Sawgrass, and Miami area for hard fighting Peacock bass,” you have come to the right place, Florida’s most extensive and #1 rated Guide Service.
We specialize in working with new anglers and experienced bass anglers looking for prime waters and modern techniques. Bass anglers who are out for an authentic, fun learning experience. But what we enjoy the most is getting those first-timers “hooked” on fishing. We provide everything you need for that big day.
Best Practices of a South Florida Fishing Guides
When taking a group of people fishing, the objective is safety first, fun, and education, especially if kids are onboard. It is not just about fishing, conservation, and the outdoors because they are future fishing guides.
This goal is to catch fish and create an atmosphere of fun and intrigue on the water. It should not be just about fishing; you should see lots of different fish and wildlife. The ecosystem depends on us promoting conservation, which starts where necessary with catch-and-release.
When being a South Florida fishing guide, we take the novice, amateur at best, and hard-core anglers and adjust our style and techniques for them. We get anglers that want to target specific species, like the Clown Knife Fish, and that okay as well.
The Everglades is a hidden gem in South Florida; it is located between Naples and Fort Lauderdale and South of Lake Okeechobee. The water flows south into Everglades National Park, where it becomes salty. You can sight-fish on the flats for Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, and Sea Trout.
When you’re ready to embark on your next fishing charter, be sure to contact one of our South Florida fishing guides for their expert advice.
Rules & Regulations
Florida fishing licenses are not included in freshwater charters, but saltwater they are. This is not a choice of the captain but a way for Florida to get additional money for its resources. Making sure you get the proper license is the guide’s job, but actually getting it can only be done by you. Specific regulations are in place, and reputable captains will ensure you’re fishing within the laws of South Florida.
For detailed information on Everglades National Park fishing regulations, including licensing requirements, bag limits, and permitted fishing areas, please visit the official Everglades National Park fishing regulations page.
Our experienced fishing guides are knowledgeable about all applicable regulations and will ensure you have a legal and ethical fishing experience.
Learning About the Area
As mentioned, South Florida is located from Naples to Fort Lauderdale and from Okeechobee South. So that puts Miami, Palm Beach, and Ft Lauderdale in the heart of Florida’s healthiest fishing locations. Because of this, there is plenty of fishing locations. Remember, if it’s posted no fishing, then cast a line!
Fishing is a family activity; there are plenty of fishing lakes, ponds, and canals in the area that can keep them happy and outdoors.
Everglades Fishing Guides: Tips and Information
Planning your Everglades fishing adventure? Here are some insider tips to help you make the most of your trip:
Best Time to Fish
Year-Round Fishing: The Everglades offers excellent fishing year-round thanks to Florida’s warm climate. However, certain seasons are better for specific species:
- Spring (March-May): Tarpon season is in full swing, and largemouth bass are actively spawning.
- Summer (June-August): Excellent for peacock bass, snook, and redfish.
- Fall (September-November): Cooler temperatures bring out the big largemouth bass.
- Winter (December-February): A great time to target sheepshead, redfish, and speckled trout.
- Tides: Pay attention to the tides, especially when fishing in saltwater or brackish areas. Incoming tides often bring baitfish and active feeding fish.
Fishing Tackle
- Rods and Reels: Medium-heavy spinning rods with 20-30 lb braided line are a good all-around choice for most Everglades species.
- Tackle: Pack a variety of hooks, weights, and swivels to adapt to different fishing conditions.
- Essentials: Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and insect repellent.
Lures/Live Baits
- Topwater lures: Poppers, frogs, and buzzbaits are effective for exciting surface strikes, especially for peacock bass and largemouth bass.
- Subsurface lures: Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and plastic worms can entice a variety of species.
- Jigs: Bucktail jigs and soft plastic jigs are versatile choices for snook, redfish, and tarpon.
- Shrimp: A universal favorite for many Everglades fish.
Shiners: Excellent for attracting largemouth bass and peacock bass. - Mullet: A good choice for snook, redfish, and tarpon

Excellent service oriented guide I booked three days of Peacock Bass fishing with Captain Tim Nichols out of Fort Lauderdale, FL in Nov., 2021. There were two of us, my adult (not teen) daughter and myself. Despite a passing cold-front, we had a great time. We boated 54 fish, mostly all Peacocks and some of them were over five pounds. We also saw lots of alligators one day which was cool. Capt. Tim is very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Unlike some guides I've had, Capt. Tim did not fish. He spent his time keeping the boat in position, netting our fish, and quickly rebating our hooks. He never complained when an errant cast caught a tree. He just motored over and got us unhooked and ready to go again. The furnished rods and reels worked flawlessly. So did his motors and other equipment. His boat is fast and there is a cooler with ice onboard. He knows the waters and even tells you which areas to focus on. One more thing, he enjoys what he does. I felt like a friend, not a customer. I have no complaints and would use Capt. Tim again, without hesitation. It is my pleasure to give him the highest review - five stars.

Capt Brett Isackson Is the Best!! Amazing trip!!!Capt Brett Isackson is not only a professional in his field, he is truly a professional with his customers. Catching Peacock bass was a bucket list of mine. My wife and I were fortunate to have Brett take us out on the everglades.
He put us onto a load of fish. He also helped my wife tremendously as she never fished before. He taught her so well and with politeness and patience. We had such a great experience that day that we decided to go out two days later with him and he made himself available for us!. What a great guy. It was some of the best fishing ever! Both days!

Peacock bass in Florida with Wayne Fellows Wayne Fellows We originally booked a six hour trip on Lake Ida. Captain Wayne Fellows suggested we change the location to the Everglades, and we are certainly glad he did. Our goal was to catch a lot of Peacock Bass, and we did just that. We also caught plenty of Oscar, Cichlid, Largemouth Bass, Gar, a couple of Pickerel, and few other types of fish too. We are definitely happy with our day on the water.

A good experience My cousin and I had planned this fishing trip for about 15 years. While we would have liked to have landed more fish, we understand that we have no control over wind speeds and fish dispositions. We fished 2 days, once with Brett Issacson in the glades and once with Bob Miley in the Falls canals. Both these fellas are top-notch—-friendly, knowledgeable. Very accommodating. Would love to fish wifh either captains a yrime

Some of the best fishing I've ever done in my life!! My favorite part of the trip was catching so many fish was Captain Mark Rose. I caught so many peacock bass that my hands were sore and my arms were tired. Captain Mark Rose is a master at his trade. He knows where to find the fish and what to use to haul them in. I will definitely be back to fish with him again and again. He's a great guy, he's really easy to get along with, and fun to fish with.

Great 1/2 day of Fishing on the Water My six year old and I enjoyed a great 1/2 day of fishing on the water with Captain Wayne Fellows. We caught 9 largemouth bass and 6 peacock bass. Wayne was friendly, knowledgeable and put us right on the spot to catch fish.
Captain Wayne and Bass Online Saves The Day A life-long friend of mine was in town for some military training and he flew his son in from Indiana for the sole purpose of Deep Sea fishing. The day before the outing the forecast called for 8ft seas and 25 knot winds so our charter canceled at noon the day before. I found Captain Wayne and asked about fresh water charters. He said that he was booked (of course) but when he learned about the situation, we worked it out somehow and took myself, my son, my buddy and his son on his Bass Tracker out to Holiday Park. He provided EVERYTHING and we each caught OVER 10 bass each and we couldn't have had anymore fun! I HIGHLY RECOMEND Bass Online and Captain Wayne. I'm booking that Salt Water Trip with Captain Wayne too!

Awesome time with Captain Mark and Brett Took a short trip to Fort Lauderdale to do some fishing . Spent a great great day on the water with captain Mark Shepard. Not only did I catch my personal best but between me my wife and Captain Mark we solved all world problems lol. Then Kim and I spend a day In The Everglades with Captain Brett Isackson. The weather was not in our favor that day but we still caught fish. Captain Brett did everything he could to get on on the bite. But bad weather is something even he can’t control.
Looking forward to fishing with both captain again. Thanks guys

Don't hire anyone else! Capt Mark Rogers made sure I had a blast! He called the night before to let me know where the bite was best, and let me decide if I wanted to keep the trip the same or change it up.Bite was tough, which is to be expected in late August. We still got into plenty of peacocks, a couple largemouth and a huge Mayan.
I can't say enough good things and I'm already trying to plan a return trip to fish with him in better weather!

Peacock Bass Adventure! My buddy and I did a trip with Captain Nick Pasquarello. We told him that we really both wanted to catch a peacock bass. He then decided to change our location to the everglades as fishing at our original location has been weak lately. I lost count of how many fish we caught and we each got our Peacock Bass. He was a great guide and I learned some new things about fishing.

Markham and Everglades trips We took 3 trips with Captain Mike Groshon and Captain Wayne Fellows. All three trips were great with excellent catches. Both captains are outstanding and went out of their way to assure we had a good time. This is the second year I've used Captain Mike and will always request him and Captain Wayne on future trips. They can't be beat.

Everglades Peacock Bass Ttip. We had a great trip fishing the canals off Alligator Alley. Me and my two teenage sons fished on Fatherâs Day and caught at least 4 Peacocks each, a ton of large mouths, and several other fish. Captain Tim was great. Put us right on them.
Most fun you can have with your pants on! Great day fishing for largemouth bass in the Everglades captain joe gruny was great to work with and helped my inexperienced wife catch more fish then she could count. He was very patient with her the whole time. Rebooked for another day this week because it was such a great time!

Bass Fishing; Florida Everglades If you are a fishing enthusiast then this is one for the books. Outstanding bass fishing as you watch alligators pass you by. The captain was outstanding and made the trip a memorable one to say the least. Much more concerned about catching fish then how many hours we had left to fish. 4 hour excursion should be upgraded to a 6. 8 hours is just too much.

First trip in the Everglades Brett was a great guide. Nice Sterling w/a Suzuki 250. Caught some largemouth, peacock and a bunch of hard fighting cichlids in 5 hours. Perfect weather, lots of birds and a few Gators as scenery. Looking to book a trip next April on Okeechobee.
Joe Gruny: Consummate Professional with a Big Heart It was to be an outing to the Stick Marsh, but, remarkably, three guides ended up canceling in the space of three hours due to illness. With my scheduled trip less than 12 hours away, Things were looking very dire. Fortunately, Lori at iOutdoor Adventures Florida, worked overtime to connect me with Joe Gunny, who, miraculously, was still available at that late hour. Joe persuaded me to opt for an outing at the Sawgrass Recreation Area, less than a third of the distance to the Stickmarsh. Upon arrival, Joe was utterly unfazed by halting progress from my car to his boat. A stroke had left me with profound left-side weakness, leaving me no choice but to hobble about on a cane. Joe effortlessly helped me into the boat, and we were off! As panicked wading birds took wing ahead of us we motored down the canal, arriving at Joeâs âsecret spot.â While catching and releasing numerous scrappy bass, Joe and I developed a quick rapport. He knew exactly when to switch from topwater lures to weighted worms to maintain consistent action. We swapped stories and learned much about each other. If learned anything about Joe it was that that his passion was to put clients onto as many fish as possible. Man, did he deliver! I look forward to speaking with Joe again!

Captain Wayne Fellows Charter We booked two charters with Captain Wayne Fellows and thoroughly enjoyed both. The first was a 4-hour charter in the Everglades and our arms were sore after pulling in over 75-80 large mouth bass. Having two boys (ages 14 and 16), we hoped to stay active despite the unseasonably cool weather that we had experienced a few days prior in FL. Wayne was great in getting us set up and fishing right away and we were busy! My boys have experience in fishing and Wayne was great in coaching them up on technique in an encouraging way. The second charter was in the Miami area with Captain Wayne as we were fishing for peacock bass. The cooler weather unfortunately did hinder our success but that was not unexpected. Captain Wayne guided us to a few spots where we could find the best success and while we didn't pull in as many as we would have liked, my boys did enjoy landing their first peacock bass and have great memories. We would definitely return again with Wayne and try our luck again in some other great spots.

Bass Fishing the Everglades This was an awesome trip. Capt Wayne Fellows did an excellent job.. We had a blast. We caught a couple Peacock Bass.. some largemouth.. what a great trip.. A big Thank you goes out to Capt Wayne.. What a great guide and personal... We really did have an amazing day.

Dino and Enzio Figaretti Had a great trip caught a lot of largemouth bass Captain was on time very cordial. Enjoy the Everglades fishing but looking to get into some bigger fish or next trip. Possibly snuck in Tarpon something where we donât have to go far out. Enjoy intercoastal fishing. Please send me updates on fishing conditions and catch rates. The fishing is extremely strong will make a special trip to Florida and go.

3 days of fishing in Miami and the Everglades Caught nearly 200 fish in 3 days with Capt.Wayne Fellows, it was fantastic! We caught multiple species and fished a different location every day. Never a dull moment and would do it again in a heartbeat. Wayne was great company and knew the spots! A most do event and go for more than a day as weather is a big factor.

Incredible Day Of Peacock Bass Fishing!! My 13 year old son and I spent an amazing day in the Everglades with Capt Brett Isackson. Capt Brett put us on peacock after peacock all day long (with several in the 4-5lb range) and couldnât have been a better host. Good instruction and assistance and great conversation only helped a day that was already something that we will remember the rest of our lives with over 50 peacocks being caught along with too many Largemouth, Oscars and Mayans to count. Will definitely be booking with Capt Brett next time we are in the area.

Everglades bass fishing Had a great time with Capt George Mro. I had my 2 teen daughters with me and George was absolutely great with them. Gave them options and instructions and everyone caught fish. Plenty of fish in the Everglades and as a nice side excursion there are plenty of alligators to view as well. From novice to expert this trip would be great. Looking forward to booking again in the future.

Everglades fishing Captain Dave was a absolute blast to fish with, he had us reeling in bass all morning. He was very knowledgeable about fishing and geting them in the boat , I highly recommend if you are looking into going on a fishing adventure that you request Dave you wonât regret it!

glade fishing This was a last minute trip as I was in Ft Lauderdale on business and wound up with an extra day, so when I called on Tuesday for a Thursday trip I was pleased that they could accommodate me. It would have been nice if a little more information on how fishing was on the initial call or more timely call back from guide would have been nice, but overall trip was good. I caught as many 1-2 lb. fish as I cared to and wound up quiting a little early (which never happens) but due to time of year and fishing conditions there appeared to be little chance of catching anything bigger than 2 lb. and there are only so many of these mostly pound or less fish one can catch. Would be a great experience for young or beginner fisherman. Saw lots of Alligators!

Captain Wayne Fellows - Bass Fishing Capt Wayne was a great gudie for largemouth bass fishing and peacock bass fishing. We have fished club tournaments for years and were very impressed with his knolwedge and guiding. Catching over 100 fish in a single day was fun too :)
St. Valentines Day Bassacre A friend and I booked Mark Rogers on February 14 (expensive bail-out dinner with wives followed). I spoke with Mark 2 nights before and he recommended the Everglades, saying 50 to 80 bass days were not uncommon of late - unusual for a guide to set such a high bar, but he seemed confident. Mark delivered. We easily caught over 100 bass. Mark provided a perfect balance of direction and giving us the space to let us fish. He assisted when necessary and gave polite suggestions when our skills lacked. I have been out with Bass-online a number of times and all the guides have been great. Mark is a great guy, and delivered a great day!

Bass fishing in alligator alley It was extremely difficult fishing in heavy cover. Did not meet my expectations or my Wife's in that we did not catch anywhere near the amount of fish the guide promised and that no bathroom breaks were provided for my wife as promised. Also the trip seemed short and rushed.

Bass fishing everglades with Wayne My wife and I had an awesome bass fishing trip on the Everglades with Wayne Fellows! We originally booked 4 hours and he kindly obliged to a 6 hour trip and boy did we catch fish. He was extremely helpful with tips and a great guide. Unfortunately our fish counter stopped at 80 so our total was unknown but we caught A LOT! Thanks again for everything and we will definitely return!

overcharged As I had said to the general manager and guide after the trip. You overcharged me for bait. The bait for the 4 hour trip for myself (I consider myself a pretty good angler so I wasn't wasting bait) was $60 dollars. At first they tried tell me it was $20 a dozen, but I purchased the same bait for $10 dollars a dozen the next day and i'm pretty sure they pay less. I may have used 3 dozen.

Worth every penny! We took a 4-hour trip with Tony Masiello early in the morning on Father's Day. It was a last-minute thought and we were happy to be able to book the day before the trip. We thoroughly enjoyed Tony's experience, attentiveness, knowledge and friendliness. My husband and I easily caught 10 fish each and, as experienced fishermen, enjoyed every minute! If you're afraid of alligators, though, this trip may not be for you. We saw many up close, one even followed the boat and came up to the side a couple of times trying to get the fish we caught. What a thrill! We highly recommend this. Next time we're in Fort Lauderdale, we will definitely do this again and consider a longer trip.

Wonderful time in the Everglades My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic morning with Capt. Tim Nichols on the Sawgrass canals in the Everglades. All gear was provided, and travel time to/from our meeting place (BJ's Bait shop) was NOT included in our fishing time - we got four full hours on the water. Saw lots of alligators and herons, as well as a gazillion gar who were totally uninterested in our bait. Caught and released many bass - they put up a good fight! Tim was quiet but personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the area - in short, the perfect guide. We felt our morning on the everglades canals was well worth the price, and I wouldn't visit Florida without doing this again. It was a great way to see Florida's ecology at its best.

fishing the canals with roger hernandez hello folks, im just your basic 57 yr old "good ol boy" from alabama. i have fished in and off shore most of my adult life. my wife and i had the pleasure of a 6 hour trip with capt. roger gonzales. i really didnot know what to expect, he (roger) drops a 21 ft ranger in a canal behind a shopping center!!! my first thought was here we go!! roger is the ultimate professional. he put my wife and i at ease, and we were catching peacocks within the first five minutes!!! what a wonderful afternoon !! we actually caught around 20-25 fish, with the the highlight of the day being back to back 5 pounders!!! if you have never fished for peacocks, imagine catching a 5 ib amberjack on 15 lb test... they just dont stop fighting or give up! my highest praise to capt roger, if i am ever back in the miami area i will definetly fish with him again!!!

At moment for some reason it will not let me see all my photos so I will upload as soon as I can.

Awesome Peacock Bass Fishing Captain Mark Rose spoiled my son and I on the Everglades Peacock Bass trip. He put us on the fish and we had a blast. Mark was very knowledgeable and willing to answer all my rookie questions. Captain Mark is really fun to fish with as you can tell he still loves the action. We will be back. Thanks Captain Mark Rose!

Both days!
