Nick and Stephanie were traveling to South Florida looking to get away on vacation. While doing so, hunting down a peacock bass sounded like an adventure. While visiting the upper Florida Keys, the Aerojet Canal System was the best option for them. Captain Robert Miley had the ultimate pleasure of getting the chance to spend 6-hours on the water with this lovely couple.
The bite was slower than normal as there was a large front coming through. The summer months can be a tough time to fish as the weather is constantly changing. This is one of the many reasons to explore the waters with an expert. They can get you on fish no matter the conditions. Windy conditions also did not stop the big peacock bass from biting.
Nick caught a trophy Florida peacock bass on this fishing trip weighing in at 5-pounds. Stephanie also came in strong with a nice largemouth bass to top the day off. The bite was steady and the most productive baits were domestic shiners. You were hardly able to feel the bite. Nick is going to make a replica mount of the beautiful fish he caught.
Captain Miley had a great time fishing with Nick and Stephanie. He is looking forward to their next adventure on the water!
It was not long after this fishing trip that Captain Miley was back on the water. This time, Jacob and his father Scott along with his brother Kaleb explored some Miami peacock bass fishing.
The Miami Falls Canal System brought them a true adventure while they were visiting from Texas. They were fishermen looking to experience something unique right here in the United States.
The Fun Continued
Before exploring Miami, they were offshore fishing for the many species of the deep blue. Jacob, Scott, and Kaleb had a strong start to the day with several nice peacock bass in the morning. As time went on, the bite continued. Captain Miley moved to his big fish spot after getting them warmed up. Luckily, the stars were aligned and the big bass were out to play.
When it comes to catching exotic peacock bass, live bait is most certainly the best method. You have to be patient to catch the big ones but they are there. The biggest bass of the day weighed in at 6 pounds and was caught by Jake. As the day went on, the fishing got even better. These gentlemen caught fish on live and artificial top waters and jerk baits.
Captain Miley is looking forward to getting this family back on the water soon!
