Florida Bass Fishing Tour

This is Capt Mark Shepard with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report.

Well folks I just got off the water, kinda cool I like taking people from Florida that live down here that have never fished on the big O out on the lake.

I fished with Vanessa and her boyfriend Warren, we did 4 hours of fishing and she never caught a bass before, well today they both got a taste of the action.

We put the hammer down on them and that’s all I can say, we smoked through the bait, caught a lot of great quality fish and a few smalls, it was an incredible day, the females are moving in, the season is beginning and the females are really packing it in.

Its going to be exciting, do not miss out on the opportunity to fish the big O, it is beautiful, alive and well, Capt Mark Shepard, all the best everyone.

Well, folks, it has been a crazy weekend with tons of wind, rain, and clouds. It got really cold on Friday but it turned around on Monday. It cleared up, the water got calm, the lake was rough and it just laid down and just absolutely beautiful, it was as calm as it can be with some light clouds.

We were able to get out to one of my favorite spots on the outside edge and bam, we just smacked them, had one of my favorite clients out, his names Russ a lot of fun to hang out with and we just had a ball.

We caught some great quality fish, the numbers were fantastic, couldn’t ask for a better day, we had a little 6-hour trip and it was on fire.

This is Capt Mark Shepard, we are looking forward to a great season doesn’t miss out.

Well folks, a lot of you know him, been watching him for a long long time, we go fishing sometimes 20 to 30 times a year, Jim Robertson.

He is back and we are having a lot of fun getting out here on the big O mixing it up, did real good on top water, soft plastics and just having a ball kicking with some live bait too.

Numbers have been fantastic, still hunting them big ones, going out again tomorrow so we will see if we can catch some better ones but the weather is going south, big front coming in, massive winds and its going to be cold.

We are going to have to dress warm but overall fishing has been really fun and the bite has been on and we are going to hunt for some big ones.

That’t it for now for all you freshwater fishing adventures go to BassOnline, thank you.

Two Day Fishing Trip On Lake Okeechobee

Two Day Fishing Trip On Lake Okeechobee

SGT Bryan Larson; US Army

BassOnline was fortunate to work with VetTix.org to provide a couple of days of fishing experience on the world-famous Lake Okeechobee for a wounded veteran.
Through this partnership, we were able to make this dream come true for Sgt Brian. Who has a true love for fishing and had always wanted to experience Lake Okeechobee. Here’s a little about Sgt Brian Larson and how his two days went on Lake Okeechobee.

SGT Bryan Larson was deployed to Iraq with the 3rd Coscom in 2005-2006 and was a Gunner on a HUMVEE. He has been awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was wounded by a roadside bomb in Taji, Iraq. Since Iraq, he has returned home to Minnesota and married his wife, and had two beautiful children. He went through a medical evaluation process and was medically discharged from the army. He has always found peace in fishing and has always hoped to be able to fish on the famed Lake Okeechobee.

Read along to experience his two days on the water…

First Day Fishing With Capt Dave Lauer

Hey, this is Captain Dave Lauer calling in, fishing out of Belle Glade, the southeast corner of the big Okeechobee. I had the pleasure to fish with Sergeant Brian Larson Out of Minnesota and his longtime friend been buddies ever since they’re little kids, I call him iron Mike because his hook set is so hard that it rips the lips off the fish. Anyway, These guys came down for a 2-day fishing trip on Lake Okeechobee We started off with a little artificial we ran into some schooling fish in one of the cuts of the rim canal fish busting all over.

Then we went out to the lake to the outside grass line and threw shiners. Ended up having to call shiner catcher to get some more. We started off with 5 dozen and picked up another two dozen. Had a good bite going from 8-1:30 and just had a good time with those guys and they caught some big ones. Not including, the big ones they lost. The fishing was pretty much steady all day long till about 1:30. Then the heat got to them and they went on strike, just turned off. It was a pleasure to fish with a Hero, an Iraq veteran protecting our liberties so that we can fish down here in Florida. So say thanks to a veteran. This is Captain Dave signing out, tight lines.

Second Day Fishing With Capt Mark Shepard

This is Captain Mark Shepard with your Lake Okeechobee update. Well, folks out on the water with Brian and his friend Mike. Brian is a wounded warrior He’s been torn up pretty bad there is a war, and it was a great honor to be able to take him out on the water. It was kind of spotty at best, fishing all over doing some light tackle fishing, but what fish we caught was a lot of fun. We were catching them on that light line light tackle, We went around to a lot of different areas and picked up Just a little bit here and there. Hit one good Spot and put quite a few numbers in the boat with one decent fish about 4 pounds.

It’s always an honor to be part of these trips and to get these guys out on the water. It means a lot and for the service they’ve given us, It’s great to give back. This is Captain Mark Shepard all the best.

Tour of Celebration Leads To Lake Okeechobee

This is Capt Mark Shepard with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report I’ve been out on the water for the past couple days with George and his brother Rob.

Two super great guys doing a tour of celebration for retirement and we had a lot of fun.

Yesterday it was brutal hot blue bird skies out but we got to this one little area and we just caught the fire out of them nothing super big though.

Today we tried to get a top water bite going and as soon as we got there we started catching them and we caught over 40 fish.

We also threw swim jigs and BassAssassin lures. the water is coming up i don’t know whats going to happen then but right now once you find a little group its on.

That’s it for now for all your freshwater fishing adventures go to BassOnline thank you.
