You may wonder how it is possible that a freshwater system can hold such excellent bass fishing. Colder water temperatures and an abundance of natural resources allow this Florida largemouth bass to grow to epic proportions. If you want to be put around these big bass, you need a local expert and professional. These Captains have put hours of their time perfecting their craft and learning the water. They want you to have the most impactful experience while bass fishing on the Rodman Reservoir.
Here is an insight look of a trip with Captain Ken Walker, one of the BEST to ever guide on the reservoir. Captain Ken had the pleasure of fishing with Rip and Marnie. They were traveling from Leesburg, FL in search for a bass of a lifetime. The Reservoir showed them a trip they will never forget.
One the very first cast using live wild-caught shiners, Rip landed a GIANT Bass. It weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces. One of the best parts about this catch was that it was right before sunrise. The picture speaks a thousand words and captures a true outdoor Florida bass fishing experience. This was a new personal best for Rip but there was more to come.
Shortly after catching this incredible fish, Rip landed another Rodman monster. When you are visiting Gainesville, you are hoping and praying to land the fish of a lifetime which generally sits over the double-digit mark. Rip landed this fish weighing in at 10 pounds 7 ounces. Along with these two fish, Rip and Marnie also caught 18 other beautiful bass.
Incredible Fishing Trip
At the last spot, Marnie found some success. The shiner was sucked under a mat and the drag was peeling off the reel before she could even set it. Marnie tightened up on that fish and set the hook hard. Her face lit up like the sky as that fish fought her all the way to the boat. Captain Ken came in clutch landing and netting her biggest bass ever. This fish tipped the scale at a whopping 10 pounds 6 ounces.
Rip and Marnie had a fantastic day on the Reservoir. They are looking forward to coming back in the future to land some more Florida Monster Bass.
Just shortly after this awesome fishing adventure, Captain David Lang another exceptional fishing guide had the pleasure of fishing with John and his significant other. They were traveling to the Rodman Reservoir in search for quality largemouth bass. Cold front conditions slowed down the bite but did not stop the action completely.
These awesome travelers and anglers landed 7 quality largemouth bass weighing up to 5 pounds. It may have not been the monster they were searching for but everyone had a great time. When you have the opportunity to kick back and relax while catching bass, every trip is a good one.
It was not long until Captain David was back on the water with another great client. He had the pleasure of fishing Sam and his three friends, who were traveling to Rodman searching for his biggest bass yet. Wild-caught live shiners came in strong on this 6-hour fishing excursion.
And it continued
Early morning conditions brought the fog and tough visibility. Sam was an experienced angler but his three friends were first-timers. It was not long until they were all hooked. Combined they landed 21 Florida largemouth bass. Sam caught the biggest bass weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces. Just shy of a true Florida trophy bass.
Everyone had a fantastic time on the Reservoir and is looking forward to another adventure with Captain David!
