After seeing all the incredible action on TV, it was a must to get out there and experience it for themselves. They wanted to fish Lake Okeechobee with all artificial baits. Anglers travel around the world to come to fish and explore this amazing place.
This wonderful group adventured out of Okeechobee City, Florida. They spent two great days on the water with a lot of excellent action. The North end of Lake Okeechobee is the perfect destination to set the hook into several-quality largemouth bass.
Great Fishing Trip
Captain Robert Alfano had the pleasure of fishing with Andrew and Gil. Captain Brian had the pleasure of fishing with Anna and Kim. Both boats had a blast catching over 30 largemouth bass. These were great numbers for the conditions that they faced. Unfortunately, this time of year in Florida can be highly unpredictable. Cold fronts consistently move in and out making for rapid changes.
If you stay patient, you can be located and catch quality largemouth bass. The key is to listen to your captain and fish much slower than you are used to. Most of the bass were in the 1-3 pound range. Captain Rob put Gil on a beautiful spawning female weighing 7.5 pounds. It was the biggest largemouth bass that he caught.
Captain Brian Brown had a lot of success as well on his boat. Anna was the star of the show with light tackle and smaller baits. They brought along some of their own equipment on this fishing trip. It was awesome to be able to experience this journey and adventure with them.
One of the best parts about this fishing trip was that the wildlife was abundant. The alligators were out sunbathing and the birds were soaring. It always makes for a true Okeechobee experience when you get the full adventure.
Captain Brian and Rob are looking forward to the next time they visit Florida! They will be back for more action on Lake Okeechobee.
