First Drift Smallmouth Bass Fishing
Lake Erie can provide exceptional outdoor activities this time of year. First Drift Smallmouth Bass Fishing is something worth experiencing when traveling to Pennsylvania this summer.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Dylan and his father Daniel. While they were traveling to Erie from West Pittsburg, they wanted to spend some quality time in the outdoors.
Incidentally, the weather was much better than it has been the past couple of days. At this point, the waves died down and we were able to get a couple of deep drifts searching for smallmouth bass.
The bite has been exceptional deep this time of year. Water temperatures are cooler which the smallmouth bass love. We targeted them in 40-60 ft of water as they were located on deep humps.
As a result, on our first drift, we caught back-to-back quality smallmouth. Both of them were right at 5 pounds. Dylan and Daniel were very excited to catch these monsters this late in the season.
In conclusion, they had an excellent trip out on Lake Erie and we look forward to their next adventure very soon.
