Captain First Peacock Bass in Naples Florida on Golden Gate Canal

Captain First Peacock Bass

Sometimes the best fishing trips are those that are close along. On this amazing trip, we had a Captain First Peacock Bass with one of our fellow Captains on Lake Okeechobee. Naples was the perfect place to experience it.

I had the pleasure to fish with Captain Brian Brown and his son Hunter. They wanted to come over to Naples and fish the Golden Gate Canal System for the first time.

It was an exciting trip for everyone on board. Nothing beats the action that we have been experiencing this time of year. You can catch some nice peacock bass and largemouth bass in many locations in Florida.

Captain Brian and Hunter caught several quality peacock bass. They even caught some better ones in the 3 pound range. Also, we experience several keeper largemouth bass. One of the more exciting parts was trying to target surfacing tarpon but had no luck.

There is nothing like catching your first peacock bass and they both got to experience that on this trip. It was an awesome day on the water and I am looking forward to doing it again in the future.

For most of my life fishing has been a passion. Over the years I have fished bass tournaments across Pennsylvania and on lakes and rivers up and down the East Coast. I have participated in B.A.S.S., FLW Stren Series, Walmart BFL’s, and ABA tournaments along with finishing 2nd in the 2012 Keystone Bass Classic on Lake Erie, to name a few.
