Live bait is the best way to catch big bass here in Florida. We help anglers, travelers, and visitors land the bass of their dreams every year. There is an art and skill to fishing with wild-caught live bait. It isn’t the easiest thing to do. Our local experts can help you along the way, ensuring you bring it to the boat when that fish bites.

A local expert is essential to fishing Lake Okeechobee. The Big O is 730 square miles and has a lot of water that looks fishable. In reality, most water and areas are ineffective for catching fish. Your local expert will take you to produce spots that constantly change with the seasons. We want you to get on fish all trip long and never have to worry about if the next bite is going to come.

Captain Mark Rogers is an exceptional fishing guide on Lake Okeechobee. This is your captain if you want to land some quality fish from a pro. Spending years on the tournament trail and fishing his whole life has allowed him to gain much knowledge.

Capt Mark Produces

Captain Mark had the pleasure of fishing with Channing and his significant other, Stephanie, out of Okeechobee City. They were traveling to Florida from Louisiana, looking for a change of scenery. While doing so, a quick 4-hour fishing trip on Lake Okeechobee was a must. Lake Okeechobee was always a place they wanted to explore and catch a bass on.

Stephanie was coming into this trip never catching a largemouth bass before. If there is one place on earth you want to catch your first largemouth bass, it is Lake Okeechobee. This beautiful place is indescribable in words. You just have to experience it for yourself to get the full effect.

The bite was slower than average on this fishing trip. Warm weather can make the largemouth bass very unpredictable. Channing and Stephanie both enjoyed fishing with artificial baits and live bait. The best bite came on wild-caught live shiners. They started the day warming up, getting a feel for the bite.  Summertime Okeechobee Shiner Fishing 2

All of a sudden, things rapidly changed. After casting out a shiner, it started to get excited. Dancing on top of the water caused the feeding bell to be rung. Suddenly, the shiner was sucked down. Stephanie was patient to let the fish eat, then set the hook. The fight was something she did not expect from her first largemouth bass. Once Captain Mark got it in the net, reality struck. She just caught a summertime GIANT bass.

Stephanie did a fantastic job and was excited to land her first bass. It was a trophy largemouth weighing in at 8 pounds 10 ounces. You just generally do not see or catch the bass of this class during this time of year. Most large fish caught during summertime range from 5 to 6 pounds.

Yet Another Good Trip

Stephanie and Channing had a great time catching largemouth bass on their fishing trip. Captain Mark enjoyed getting this couple out on the water and showing them something they hadn’t done before. It is always nice to bring in a trophy bass while doing so.

Captain Mark is looking forward to seeing them come back to explore more of Lake Okeechobee in the near future!

Every adventure can bring you a different result, but you can be confident that you will have a blast along the way. Our local experts won’t only get you on the bass but also educate you on how to catch them.
