Family Day Bass Fishing
This archived Lake Okeechobee report preserves three family-focused trips with Captain Brian Brown.
Ray’s Family Trip
Ray fished with his son-in-law Craig and granddaughters Logan and Jordan. The group caught more than 20 largemouth bass, mostly in the 2- to 3-pound range, using live shiners.
They also enjoyed the wildlife around the lake, including birds and alligators, making the trip about more than the catch alone.
Father-Son Artificial-Lure Trip
Kelvin and his son traveled from Canada and focused on artificial lures. They caught more than 30 bass on a mix of swim jigs, topwater, Senkos, swimbaits, and other presentations.
The biggest fish was a little over 3 pounds, but the steady artificial-lure action made the trip memorable.
Three-Generation Family Trip
Troy fished with his son-in-law Brandon and grandson Spencer. Half the day was spent with live shiners and half with artificial lures.
The family caught strong numbers of largemouth bass, with the biggest fish over 5 pounds.
The lasting value of these reports is the family experience and the variety of ways Lake Okeechobee can be fished. Current trip results depend on weather, water level, vegetation, fish position, and the group’s goals.
