Top Water Lake Okeechobee Fishing Frenzy- Clewiston, FL

This is Capt Brian Brown with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report.

John came all the way from Missouri to have a Top Water Lake Okeechobee Fishing Frenzy in Clewiston, FL. We had 8 hours to find quality largemouth bass with artificial baits only. We were destined to have a great day with calm and warm conditions. I did not expect the day to start the way it did.

Since we were out on the lake so early, we had to start off with top water. The topwater bite was on; we caught a bunch of fish right off the bat. John caught a really nice one weighing 5 3/4 pounds. That is an exciting fish to get on a topwater bait. That fish put on a show for us, smacking it three times before she ate it. We kept walking those baits away until this happened!

The bite slowed down, and we had to start fishing, throwing different patterns and techniques to find the next bite. A few key patterns worked: a stick worm, chatter bait, and swim jig. If you want some Lake Okeechobee Fishing Frenzy action, I recommend throwing those baits.

Today wasn’t one of those days that we piled them in the boat, but we had a much more steady bite. We consistently caught fish; to me, that was a super productive trip. The weather was perfect, with a little fog to start, but the sun burnt it away once it came out.
