Finding Some Spots and Catching some Bass on Okeechobee

Finding Some Spots and Catching some Bass on Okeechobee

Hi this is Captain Mark Rogers and today we were fishing at Lake Okeechobee.

It is a couple days after the cold front, the waters are still a little chilly and it was about 60 degrees in the morning.

We started out and tried an area with some artificial lures to see what was going on and couldn’t get any real action, so we moved out and tried some shiner areas, and we slowly picked away at them.

I stopped at a couple spots and we would catch two or three fish in each area, then about noon I figured we could try going back in the shallows again and try fishing with some artificials, the water warmed up a few degrees, wind was blowing about 10 to 15 out of the east so that helped relax the fish a little bit and we started catching a few fish on worms back in the grass flats.

We moved around to a couple different areas caught some more fish on artificials, and then we ended up Shiner fishing a little bit more, and picked up a few more bass doing that, so it was a little bit better day.

The waters are warming up slowly, so I think once it gets back up to 66 68 the bass are going to really start biting and the fishing should get better.

Well that’s it for now, this is Capt Mark Rogers, keep searching for those big ones.
