Bass going Crazy right now on St Johns River

This is Captain Steve Niemoeller fishing report for the St.Johns River, where the bass going Crazy right now. I had Andy and Julie, who are from England, and they’re the guest of Robin and Carolina, who live in Florida. We went out on the St. Johns River, originally scheduled to go out on Rodman Reservoir, but Rodman right now is a little bit hard to get in and out of doing to its being drained down, and they don’t have a ramp built.

We had to change things around a little bit to get in off the dirt, but we had a fantastic day! After yesterday’s trip getting over 30 fish..going out today with these folks…I was hoping we would do half as good in 6 hours, and we ended up catching a couple of dozen Bass today!

I had Caroline catch a Bass up it four and a half pounds..they had another Bass four seventh of a pound. The river is just incredible right now…we have had an awful lot of rain this summer, so the water is getting backed up really high, and now it’s starting to come back down.

The fishing is just phenomenal! Glad to have these folks on the boat today…it was a lot of fun…I hope they’ll come back and see me sometime…when Andy and Julie get married next year, hopefully, they’ll come back and go back out..we’ll do it again. It’s just too great out there right now on St. John’s River! We’re fishing with wild shiners, which makes the Bass go crazy right now!
