Florida Keys To Peacock Bass Fishing Miami Falls
Hello this is Capt Robert Miley here with your fishing report for The Falls.
Our day began setting out on an adventure to do some Peacock Bass Fishing Miami Falls with Deborah Barry and her son Elliot. They traveled all the way to Miami from Madison County, Wisconsin. The weather in Florida was extra appealing since its snowing back home. The Miami Keys is a great vacation spot during these winter months.
Freshwater floods South Florida with the ever elusive peacock bass ruling those waters. They are hard fighting and are irresistible when given the opportunity to fish for them. The bite came on slow, but once it was on, it was on.
The air temperature was right around 58 degrees to start, which is cold for Miami. The peacock bass were forced down in deeper water. Once the sun pushed away the clouds around 11:30- 12:00 is when everything turned for us. That is also when the water temperature rose to 73 degrees.
The fishing trip was a success. The largest peacock bass was 3 1/2 pounds. We could not find a giant but we caught plenty of bass. We also caught a variety of different fish. We caught an exotic species to Florida, the Plecostomous. It was like 5 pounds and it sure was long. We also caught some largemouth and a cat fish. It was a great day with no big ones on the boat but we did encounter one.
As I was helping bait a line, I had one rod hanging over the side with a shiner on the surface. All of a sudden a Big Peacock Bass comes up and slaps it real hard. She then sucks it under and the rod flung up and hit me in the arm. I was kinda startled since she made a big commotion on the water.
What a great time. Deborah and Elliot were really pleased with their trip. They are headed back down to the Keys to finish up their vacation.

Eastern Division, for the past 7 years. He also is the Bass Pro Shops Pro Staff representative for South Florida. Versatile in that he fishes for Peacock bass as well as trophy largemouth on Lake Okeechobee.
