Epic Northern Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Epic Northern Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Smallmouth bass are a species much different than largemouth. These northern bass are about to turn on as the water and weather begins to warm. One of the best locations to catch them is on Lake Erie. Pennsylvania is known for its Epic Northern Smallmouth Bass Fishing.

Today, I had the pleasure to fish with Mike Mercer and Andrew from Michigan. They are traveling for the smallmouth bass fishing and were in for a great charter.

Even though the conditions were not in our favor, we had a great trip out on the Lake. Water temperatures are right at 57 degrees. As it begins to warm with the summer months coming, the smallmouth will start to feed more aggressively.

We caught right around 50 bass on Jerk baits and tubes. The tubes we were using was a pattern of green pumpkin with a weighted head. The jerk baits that suspend to 8 to 10 feet in a perch pattern are the ones you want to throw this time of year.

Mike and Andrew caught some really great quality smallmouth bass all weighing 2 to 3 pounds. The smallmouths are holding on ledges and if you are not on those ledges it will be increasingly more difficult to catch them.

Do not miss out on your opportunity to catch a trophy smallmouth bass this summer. I am looking forward to fishing with Mike and Andrew.
