Latest Lake Tarpon Bass Fishing Report with Local Expert and Captain Bill Goudy Jr:
First Trip of this Report:
“I had the pleasure of fishing with David on Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs, FL. He was traveling to west Florida from Philadelphia looking to escape the northeastern weather. While doing so, he wanted to explore what Florida bass fishing was all about.
As a result, he went out fishing on beautiful Lake Tarpon. The action was steady all trip long with several-quality largemouth bass in the boat. Key structures on this trip were hydrilla and Kissimmee grass around docks. Throwing wild-caught live shiners around these areas really helps stir up a good bite.
David caught over 15 largemouth bass on his quick morning fishing trip. The biggest bass caught was right around 4.5 pounds. He was excited to see the quality of fish that he did as you just don’t get the opportunity to land fish like that up north.
David had a great time on the water and is looking forward to getting back down here soon for more action!”
Second Trip of this Report:
“Anglers, travelers, and visitors from across the globe travel to Florida to search down some big Florida largemouth bass. Alan was no different! I had the pleasure of fishing with Alan, my new friend, who was traveling from Toronto, Canada.
While down here, Alan wanted to catch some Florida largemouth bass. We went out on Lake Tarpon and had a blast all day long catching fish after fish. Alan did not expect to land his personal best largemouth bass while here. This fish weighed in at just over 5 pounds. He also lost an even bigger fish around 7 pounds right by the boat.
Fishing can be fishing sometimes, but in those moments we get addicted to the endless possibilities of what will bite the end of the line next. Live bait was the most effective method to help Alan land some beautiful largemouth bass on this fishing trip.
Cloudy but calm conditions made for a great day on the water. It was a really good experience to fish with Alan. He was a great guy to fish with and I am looking forward to getting back out on the water again soon!”
Final Trip of this Report and Video:
“Being a father and a family man, some of my favorite trips are the ones that I have father-and-son duos on the boat. I had the ultimate pleasure of fishing with Josh and his six-year-old son Ryan. They were traveling from Ohio and loved bass fishing. While here in Tarpon Springs, we adventured out on Lake Tarpon and had a trip they will never forget!
This trip was post-frontal conditions which had it windier than expected. Fortunately enough, I had several spots that have been producing and knew they would continue to. When we pulled up to the first spot, the action was red hot from the first cast to the last.
The young angler Ryan caught his personal best rather quickly weighing in at 4 pounds 4 ounces. Shortly after that catch Dad, Josh landed his personal best largemouth bass weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces. After picking away at several other fish, it started to slow down.
It was nice to show Josh and Ryan around the lake further. We pulled up on another spot, where they were bedding, and caught several more quality largemouth bass. It was a solid day of catching numbers of bass in the 2-4 pound range keeping everyone on board excited.
Josh and Ryan had an amazing experience on Lake Tarpon. They are looking to come back and explore the waters again with the whole family. I am looking forward to showing them around in the near future!” – Captain Bill Goudy Jr
