Chris and Tony were traveling from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania looking to catch up with some Lake Erie Smallmouth. It was their first time fishing with us here at Bass Online. Captain Mark Rose was going to put them on some quality bass. Conditions were just right for a great morning of fishing.

Always Changing Conditions

The main lake was the area that fished the best. Water temperatures were holding at 68 degrees. Most of the bass came on fishing tubes, jerk baits, and drop shots. If you focus on the Hammermill Plant through Shades Beach, you can find some quality bass.

Chris and Tony caught two of their personal best bass when Bass Fishing Lake Erie. Chris caught a 5.5 pounder, and Tony landed a 4-pounder. There is nothing like catching big bass and big numbers with 45 smallmouths in the boat. They had a fantastic time fishing on Lake Erie and are looking forward to coming back and doing it again!

Not long after this great day on the water, John and Bruce adventured out with Captain Mark. They were traveling from Cincinnati, Ohio, to get out on the great Lake Erie. It was an eventful 6-hour fishing trip with lots of quality bass in the boat.

Slightly windy and overcast conditions promoted an excellent bite. John and Bruce fished the main lake from the Hammermill Plant to Shades Beach. The most effective baits were senkos, tubes, drop shots, spinnerbaits, jerk baits, and galidas grubs, which of course needed to be put in the best fishing holes. Water temperatures vary from 62-67 degrees. These gentlemen boated 60 bass in those 6 hours making for another great day on the water.

The trip doesn’t end at the dock.

Travis and Brandon adventured out on Lake Erie shortly after this fishing trip. The weather was not cooperating, and they asked Captain Mark if they should cancel, but he advised that it would settle and they would catch them up. They were traveling from Ohio looking for some big smallmouth bass, and they got what they were coming for.

Travis and Brandon boated over 70 smallmouths, with three over 5 pounds. It was another trip with two personal best bass. The action is hot and heavy and will only improve as summer rolls on. They threw everything from jerk baits to tubes and drop shots while fishing the main lake again. Water temperatures were holding in the 65-67 degree range, which helped promote an excellent bite.

Lake Erie is one of the best smallmouth bass fisheries in the nation. You truly can’t beat the action here.
