Great Six hours trip Really enjoyable 6-hour-plus adventure for novices. Very friendly and helpful captain, thanks Kayman! He provided useful tips and lots of background information about the area and the fishing. There may not have been many largemouth bass on this particular day, but that didn't spoil the enjoyment in any way. We will be back in 2026 again.
Tasty fish So many largemouth bass caught; excellent trip, great value for money. Kayman, the captain, was so friendly. Wonderful scenery. Thanks to Bass Online Fishing Guides for the best day of our holiday. This time 4 hr couple trip, next time 8 hr full family. Thanks, guys.
My enjoy all the time An amazing day today; the captain DJ was great. Showed us exactly what to do and even cut the fish up so we could cook it when we got home. There were 4 of us today, and between us we caught 15+ fish in 4 hours. and everyone came off the boat with the biggest smile on their face worth every single penny of it. Not many activities you can pay so little for per person. Thank you for our best day out since we have been here.
Amazing outing We had a fabulous largemouth bass fishing trip. The captain, Justin, was a lovely, friendly person who gave us all a warm welcome and lots of much-needed help. I would highly recommend this as a fun couple trip, and we managed to catch our own dinner too!
Our Sea Fishing Trip! My 15-year-old son and I had a great day out sea fishing with these guys on 15th Dec 2025. We went fishing out of the city and were so impressed with the trip that we felt we had to write a review. Paul, the captain, was very helpful and couldn't do enough to make sure that my son and I caught a lot of largemouth bass fish. We ended up catching 7 in total (and lost more!!!). The trip was not at all overcrowded. It was very relaxing and great fun! We genuinely felt Paul really wanted everyone to catch fish, and they obviously loved what they were doing. I think the trip is great value for money and well worth a trip; we will definitely be back to do this again when we are next in the area. Thank you to the Bass Online Fishing Guides for a great memorable day out, which was probably the best day of our holiday! Claud and Hank (From Katy, TX)
great value for money! We did the four-hour trip, which is done with Bass Online Fishing Guides. This is perfect for families, as the skill required is minimal. The team was friendly and helped out, and thanks a lot, Captain DJ. Everyone got at least one largemouth bass, and the view of Lake Okeechobee is stunning.
Lovely day fishing experience Our full family member went out fishing with captain Kayman on the lake okeechobee. It was a first for both of us and Kayman was so nice, super helpful all day with a lot of pointers and guidance. There are no words to describe my grandmother's joy upon catching a largemouth bass fish. It was a great day all around!

Fishing with great captain After months of the kids talking about fishing, we decided to give this a go. Kayman was fantastic captain calm, clear, and great with children. He guided them step by step, from handling to catching their first Largemouth bass fish. They caught plenty and learned so much along the way.Highly recommend for anyone wanting to start their fishing journey.
Nature and fishing combined with my family. We loved how this trip blended fishing with exploring nature. The All Day Lake Okeechobee Fishing Trip near Fort Pierce and it was really we enjoyed. The fishing was just as exciting, with plenty of bass to keep us busy. Out kids started strong, landing two nice ones right away, and I eventually caught up. Four hours was the perfect amount of time, enough to fish, relax, and enjoy the views without feeling rushed.
I have guide fished over a hundred times in my life and would put DJ’s trip in the top 5. Thanks DJ for a great day of fishing.

Utah man gets his bucket list filled. Captain Fellows was simply awesome. His knowledge was amazing. He was super nice and fun. Made the trip worth the money. When I told him a largemouth from Okeechobee was on my bucket list...bam, He fulfilled my dream. I'm from Utah.
Lake Okeechobee bass vs Captain Galen Today was a great day on world famous Lake Okeechobee. Fish were plentiful and so were the stories. Captain Galen Fugh was a great guide and outstanding “Wang” man! It was a day for checking off something on our bucket list and making memories. We highly recommend you let them hook you up with some bug bass!
He never disappoints! His knowledge and enthusiasm keep us coming back. Highly recommend.

He was right. He was smart about not getting too far out and onto fish. His boat was amazing. Large Ranger that was the most stable, smooth running fishing boat I have ever been on. I never once felt we were in an unstable situation despite the high winds.
Mark got us onto big bass…every bass was the size you might catch once in a week in lakes in Canada. My forearms hurt after reeling in these bass!!
Mark has the boat, gear, and knowledge to put you in a position to catch amazing smallmouths. It’s up to the fisherman from there but he puts the odds of success in your favor!

Highly recommend BassOnline! Captain Galen went above and beyond for us. Not only did he put my wife and I on bass ALL day, he had an amazing personality. Fishing with him was like fishing with a lifelong friend. We all spent the day joking, sharing stories, and catching fish. We had very tough fishing conditions for our outing, but his knowledge ensured we caught a lot of fish. Book your Okeechobee trip with BassOnline and request Captain Galen Fugh.
Mark is a true professional, highly competent, and is very personable. He is patient and provides great instruction and he provided us with the highest quality fishing equipment I have ever fished with and I’ve been fishing my whole life!!! Fishing with Mark is a guaranteed fun day and he will give you a real probability of catching fish. We highly recommend!!!! Jim and Kellie
Our Best Bass Trip! I've been lucky to fish with some good guides in my life and Capt. Mark Shepard moved to the top of that list the other day (1/13/21) when he took us out on Okeechobee. We caught more bass than you'd believe so I won't disclose the number but as important we had a great time. Captain Mark has some stories he likes to share as well as accurate information about the big O and surrounding environment. You can't go wrong with Captain Mark Shepard. Book it!
Ripping lips all day! I had an amazing time Bass fishing with Captain Mark Rose and Mark Shepard. Both of them are true professionals. We fished 2 days back to back each 8 hour trips. We were hooked up on Bass right away and it lasted ALL DAY! They did NOT disappoint! I canât wait to come back.
AWESOME!!! BOOK A TRIP WITH CAPT MARK ROSE! I booked a 2 day bass fishing trip on Okeechobee for my daughter and I and we had a great time catching large mouth bass. Mark knew exactly where to take us to catch them. The second day was forecasted to be colder so Mark offered to take us to the Falls near Miami and fish for Peacock bass. What a blast...he went above and beyond to make sure we caught fish and had a good trip. I highly recommend fishing with Mark. We will be back!
Captain Mark Sheppard was the best! Put us on fish during a very windy day. He knew the sheltered coves and grassy areas. We started catching fish almost the minute we dropped in a line. Captain Mark was great to talk to and gave us advice on catching the clunkers. I highly recommend him and certainly have a return trip!
We had a great trip with Captain Mark Roger's. He was a very thoughtful guide who was concerned about our success on the water. He worked to find us fish on a tough day. We ended up catching several nice bass. Had a great time and would recommend Captain Mark Roger's to anyone.
Bass fishing better from Dec - April at Lake Okeechobee very nice guy and tried his best to take us to places to catch some bass but it was the wrong time of the year and the wrong weather; nothing he could have done about it; but it would have been nice to have been told up front when booking that the fishing during June-Sep is really slow;
My husband and I have fished with Captain Mark several times over the last 15 years. He is very knowledgeable and a great at instructing. Mark is also a lot of fun to be with. Fishing with Mark is always the highlight of our trips to Florida. We can’t wait to go again!
Great first time on Okeechobee Very professional service, easy to reserve and very accommodating. Captain Galen had us on fish early in and my fiancé and I both caught 3 largemouth a few crappie and several mud fish and catfish. All in all in was a great day on the water and would highly recommended.
Awesome time with Captain Mark and Brett Took a short trip to Fort Lauderdale to do some fishing . Spent a great great day on the water with captain Mark Shepard. Not only did I catch my personal best but between me my wife and Captain Mark we solved all world problems lol. Then Kim and I spend a day In The Everglades with Captain Brett Isackson. The weather was not in our favor that day but we still caught fish. Captain Brett did everything he could to get on on the bite. But bad weather is something even he can’t control.
Looking forward to fishing with both captain again. Thanks guys

My husband and I came down for a two day fishing trip with Captain Mark Shepard at Lake Okachobee. The weather wasn’t the best but we had a blast. Mark called to talk with us the day prior. He picked us up at the hotel each morning. He took pictures of the fish we caught and sent them to us at the end of each day. We HIGHLY recommend!
Bass fishing at it`s best Captain , Mark put me on the bass . Had a great 6 hour trip caught 12 bass and 6 other fish . I fish a lot but you can always learn from a pro. Bring a camera ,sun screen ,sun glasses and a big hat. Get ready to have fun.Out of Clewiston Fl.
Annual Bass fishing David Lauer did a great job helping my 85 year old father onto the boat and finding the fish. The Bass online outfit is a top notch above board operation. No cash only policy and no overcharging for bait either like we have experienced in the past with other so called guides.I do think David was steering all the big bass towards my dad! LOL
My dad and I will be back again next year!

Okeechobee Bass Fishing My wife and I went out with Dave Lauer for our honeymoon and had a great time! Highly recommend it for people of all skill levels. Dave was great company and took good care of us out on the water. Caught about 20 fish between all three of us on the boat that day.
Excellent Experience Brian was awesome. Very knowledgeable. Definitely a true fisherman. Very personable and easy to get along with. We caught 4 species for the day including several nice bass. I recommend Brian and we will definitely be back to fish with him again.
2 Trips = 10 Stars I booked back to back trips with Bass Online. We fished two different lakes with two different guides but both were very professional. Both provided all of the tackle, bait, and necessary knowledge to have 2 very successful fishing trips. The number of bass we caught and the quality of bass we caught far exceeded my expectations considering we were fishing in late July in FL. I would absolutely use Bass Online again. Thanks for a great experience.
Okeechobee with Brian Brown Great day with Brian. Put us on fish in minutes and caught them all morning long. Gators made it interesting. Largemouth, Channel Cats, Mud Fish and yes a turtle made it a great morning trip. Have been guided by both Brian and Dave, both true professionals. Will book again!
Father Son Fishing Trip Dave Lauer was our guide and did a wonder job putting us on fish. We caught so many fish it wasn't even funny! Boat and gear were well prepped and ready to go. Will definitely know who to call when we go again. Thanks again for a wonderful trip! Brian
Bass Fishing Any day out with Mark Shepherd is a good day! Highly recommended as we are repeat customers An experience angler and former Pro like Mark is what you need when tackling the Big O! No matter the weather you will catch fish! Mark has always been professional, upfront and completely honest in the forecast. Trust no one else when making your selection
Good Trip, Great Captain Myself and two of my sons (15 and 19) went on a 4 hour bass fishing charter with Captain Rob on The Big O. Although we only caught 10 or so fish, the personality and knowledge of Captain Rob Alfano made it a good experience. He picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel we were staying at. He joked and chatted with my boys effortlessly and made the trip more enjoyable for them. He also knew the lake well and led us to fish, however the conditions were not in our favor as the water neared 90F and the wind made it difficult to fish the islands correctly. He even asked to pick us up at 6am rather than 7am as to allow more time for prime fishing. Great guide, would recommend Captain Rob and fishing Okeechobee to anyone.
Mark Shepard Review I look forward every year to fishing with Mark Shepard. He is the ultimate guide; friendly, knowledgable, patient, great teacher and extremely hard working. He works tirelessly to put you on fish which is all you can ask for in a guide. I have fished with a lot of good guides but Mark is in a class by himself.
Great guide. Solid service Fished with Larry Crossman. Great guide. Patient, professional and accommodating. Had the ability to slide one day for better weather. No hassles and Larry suggested going earlier next day. This really paid off as fishing was active but only for first 2 hours. We had a blast, learned a lot and recommend Larry highly.
Great May Trip! Caught around 20 fish in 5 hours. Mainly the standard 2-3lbers which to a yankee is outstanding. Captain Brian was awesome!!! Really knows his stuff and is a good guy to hang out with on a boat all day. Great time fishing Okeechobee! Iâll be back.
Outstanding Experience I took my 10 yr old son fishing.. I caught a 9-1/4 lb Bass first hit.. My son caught a 7-1/2 lb Bass.. Mark Shepard guided us, if you can book Mark.. A professional all the way.. He made it happen for us, my son went on to catch more than 60 lbs of fish.. I will definitely return and fish with Mark.. A crazy good time..
Bass in the Everglades Captain Mike Groshon is the man. We had a trip booked for Lake Okeechobee, but some poor fishing conditions came up in the weeks before our trip. Mike was honest and upfront, and told us that we would be better off doing an Everglades trip. So glad we listened, because between the three of us, we caught over 250 largemouth in 8 hours (and thatâs an honest count from everyone on the boat). Fishing was incredible, and on top of that, Mike was a pleasure to fish with. It was clear that he was committed to putting us on fish and having a fun day on the water. I canât recommened this trip enough.

Lake Okeechobee is the most “famous big bass body of water” in the fishing capital of the world, Florida, well-known for the quantity and quality of bass the lake produces. The Lake Okeechobee bass fishing reputation has continued for a long time as it creates the largest and best largemouth bass fishing in Florida and, by some standards, the world.
Lake Okeechobee is home to the most prized freshwater game fish and cooler-filling panfish, making it a top freshwater fishing destination to experience.
Why Lake Okeechobee is a Top Fishing Destination
Lake Okeechobee is known for having some of the best fishing, and below are some of the reasons this water body is so well-regarded by bass fishermen everywhere. Still, you need to experience the “Big O” firsthand to appreciate it fully. Lake Okeechobee is the biggest freshwater lake in Florida, sometimes called Florida’s inland sea, with a surface area of 730 square miles. Its priority is controlling water levels for flood control.
Most of the flow comes from the Kissimmee River and flows down the Caloosahatchee River because the Herbert Hoover Dike surrounds the entire water body. The primary natural tributaries are Taylor Creek, Fisheating Creek, and the Kissimmee River.
Lake Okeechobee is one of the United States’ most esteemed largemouth bass fisheries. Lake Okeechobee’s vastness also means that it has various species you can catch, but it also makes knowing where to fish a pretty daunting task. Knowing where to cast your hook and line would make Lake Okeechobee bass fishing more fun and a lot easier.
Top Fishing Locations in Lake Okeechobee
Below are some favorite tips on landing more fish using various techniques.
OKEECHOBEE CITY
The city of Okeechobee is the largest city on Lake Okeechobee, situated on its north end. It provides excellent access to the largemouth bass-filled waters and also the ever-popular black crappie. So if you’re a newbie or going fishing with your family for the first time in Florida lakes, Okeechobee might be an excellent spot to start.
BELLE GLADE
Belle Glade, also known as Bay Bottom by the locals, spans between Grassy Island and Torry Island. Lake Okeechobee is one great Black Crappie fishery; the most admired spots are in the southeast part of the lake. Its waters are comparatively calm, making it the perfect spot to catch fish from the shoreline.
CLEWISTON
Another fantastic area you can effortlessly fish from shore or by boat is Clewiston. Well-positioned on the Southwest shore of Okeechobee, directly between the East Coast and West Coast of Florida. You’ll enjoy fishing with a boat in the monkey box area. It’s a notorious largemouth bass location, so this might be the spot for you if you’re looking to get hooked up on a fish of a lifetime.
How To Fish Lake Okeechobee
When fishing Lake Okeechobee, the two primary methods used are artificial baits or live bait, typically with wild shiners. Bass fishing with wild shiners on the “Big O” is the most popular method for many anglers going after their personal best trophy bass. It just happens that it’s the natural food that the local largemouth bass feed on daily in the fishery.
Live bait
Lake Okeechobee bass fishing with wild shiners gained popularity many years ago when anglers fishing for largemouth bass would observe the bass naturally feeding in their habitat.
It has become an increasingly popular choice because once you’ve experienced this style of fishing, you’ll quickly recognize that it’s much more than just sitting and watching bobbers. The strikes on wild shiners made by these strong game fish is an experience like no other.
Like all fishing techniques, the season is crucial, and there are specific types of tackle and secret methods for hooking and rigging shiners to increase productivity. This comprehensive guide will cover the top tips for successfully fishing Lake Okeechobee. Still, your professional guide will be able to show you even more about the tips and techniques for the specific conditions on the day of your fishing trip.
Artificial
Many avid anglers prefer the method of using artificial lures to target trophy bass when Okeechobee fishing. When bass fishing with artificials, you have the choice of spinning, baitcasting, or fly fishing.
Flipping and pitching on Okeechobee is always really popular. Based on local fishing reports, Lake Okeechobee remains an excellent lake for topwater plugs, thanks to its shallow depths and weedy bottom, which are ideal for attracting big bass.
Tackle Recommendations
The local Lake Okeechobee bass fishing experts agree that you have different options depending on the time of day or year. Plastic baits continue to be number one for Lake Okeechobee bass fishing; they also report, more specifically, Zoom products, the fluke, the speed worm, and the Brush hog. In Bass Assassin, look at using the Die Dapper and Shad Assassin. A local favorite WOW Factor shallow crankbaits, rattle traps, Zara Spook for Topwater, or something similar.
Pitching baits into Lake Okeechobee grass is the most productive technique for trophy largemouth bass. You can stock up on all your needs locally at Walmart, Marinas, and local tackle shops around most Florida lakes.

There are numerous alternative areas for bank fishing, including grassy banks, concrete walkways, fishing piers, and more, which can be found by searching fishing reports online. Favorably for you, these points are accessible on foot and by bike. However, you should also be aware that fish aren’t the only things that inhabit Okeechobee waters.

About Lake Okeechobee
The Seminole Indian name for Lake Okeechobee means “Big Water.” A proper name for the largest freshwater reservoir in the United States, occurring entirely in one state. The Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission states, “There is no place that can compare with Lake Okeechobee, not only for lunker largemouth bass, history, and wildlife, but also for its size.”
History
Lake Okeechobee is about 37 miles long by 30 miles wide, with an average depth of only 10 feet. To fishermen nationwide, it’s renowned for the number of largemouth bass it has per acre. Lake Okeechobee produces more trophy bass over 7 pounds than any other lake in Florida and arguably the entire United States.
Lake Okeechobee is positioned in central southern Florida, north of the Everglades and south of Orlando. It links Florida’s Atlantic and Gulf sides via the Port Mayaca Lock on Okeechobee’s east side and the Moore Haven Lock on Lake Okeechobee’s western side. Drainage canals lower the lake and drain adjacent lands for farming. Agricultural activities in the Central Florida Okeechobee area include cattle ranching, dairy farming, and crop production of sugarcane, winter vegetables, citrus, sod, sweet corn, and rice.
Disaster Strikes
In 1926 and 1928, hurricane waters destroyed the dikes on the lake’s southern edge, resulting in thousands of deaths. As a result, the Okeechobee waterway was developed as a reservoir with canals and levees built. Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District direct the waters through dikes, canals, and floodgates to protect against flooding, prevent saltwater intrusion, and provide water for agricultural irrigation.
It also supplies drinking water to large urban areas in the State of Florida. Unfortunately, these water management activities have greatly encumbered the water flow from Okeechobee to the Everglades. Instead of alternating wet and dry seasons, which provided steady sheets of water, the Everglades now experience times of drought or powerful discharges of water.
This body of water supports a diverse range of waterway structures, from open water to narrow canals surrounded by hundreds of different types of vegetation and grasses, providing habitat for various fish species.
