I had the pleasure of fishing for both species of bass on two separate bodies of water. Lake Ida is a beautiful place to catch peacock bass, and Lake Okeechobee is world-renowned for its largemouth bass fishing.
They are both located in beautiful Palm Beach County. Lake Ida resides in Delray Beach. Take a break from their beautiful beaches and enjoy the outdoors uniquely. Lake Okeechobee is also encompassed within the borderlines. When visiting Lake Okeechobee, come experience Slims Fish Camp for a warm welcome to the Lake.
Coach Ramsey fished with us on Lake Ida with members from their fishing team out of Mississippi. This was their first peacock bass fishing trip, and they wanted to travel to Florida to experience the excitement.
This trip was a reward for them after a successful season of tournaments. They qualified for Nationals, and I wish them all the luck in their upcoming tournaments. The male peacock bass was protecting beds, but we caught some good numbers.
Coach and his team caught over 20 peacocks in a short trip ranging from 2 to 3 pounds. Next time they come down, they want to experience Lake Okeechobee.
WOW…Continued Success
I had the pleasure of fishing with the Lewis Family traveling from Tennessee. This was their first trip out to Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing, and they had a blast. They loved to experience the beautiful Slims Fish Camp as well.
We fish in many lake areas, but the outside edges produce the best bite. Winds coming from the southeast helped push fish on these edges.
The Lewis family caught over 30 largemouth bass and was highly impressed with the action and quality. Most fish ranged from 2 to 3 pounds, with the most significant weighing close to 4 pounds.
I can’t wait for them to return and fish with us again. Both trips were incredible; everyone enjoyed catching Florida Bass in Palm Beach County. I look forward to creating more memories, one fish at a time!
