Middle Lake is a 200-acre freshwater Fish Management Area in Pasco County, Florida, near Dade City and San Antonio. The lake is managed in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and is accessed from Middle Lake Park, also known in FWC ramp records as R.H. Pless Park.
Middle Lake Fishing
Middle Lake supports a managed freshwater fishery. Florida fish-consumption guidance specifically lists both largemouth bass and bluegill from Middle Lake, while FWC’s regulatory history also documents the lake’s black crappie fishery. Current Fish Management Area rules include special limits for bluegill and redear sunfish.
Watercraft on Middle Lake must be operated at idle speed only. Current FWC rules set a combined daily limit of 20 bluegill and redear sunfish, and bluegill or redear under 8 inches must be released immediately. Anglers should review the current FWC Fish Management Area regulations before fishing because rules can change.
Middle Lake Park and Boat Ramp
Middle Lake Park is located at 18620 Townsend House Road in the Dade City area. Current FWC facility notices state that the boat ramp and park are open to the public, while the fishing pier is closed until further notice. The park has historically provided a boat ramp, canoe/kayak access and picnic facilities.
Within 150 feet of the boat launch site, swimming, camping, open fires and taking fish or wildlife with firearms are prohibited. The lake is a Fish Management Area, so anglers should also confirm current license requirements and posted site rules before a trip.
Middle Lake should not be confused with other Florida waterbodies that share the same name, including a Middle Lake associated with the Conway Chain near Orlando. This page covers the Pasco County Middle Lake near Dade City/San Antonio.
For current rules, see the FWC Fish Management Area regulations. For current facility notices, see FWC open/closed notices.
