Derrick and Marie were traveling to South Florida on their honeymoon. After spending some time in this beautiful destination, they wanted to spend some additional quality time on the water. They were traveling from Virginia and never caught an exotic species before. Miami’s Airport Lakes was a great first destination to do so!

The action started out slow but as the heat picked up so did the fishing. Summertime fishing can get hot but if you can bear the heat, the rod will start bending. That is exactly what happened for Derrick and Marie. It was right around 12 PM that the bite picked up.

These honeymooners caught a mixed bag of cichlids, peacock bass, largemouth bass, and jaguar guapote. It is in these catches that you truly get to realize the power of South Florida fishing.

You can stay busy all trip long catching numbers of different fish. Marie and Derrick had a blast putting fish in the boat with some beautiful and quality peacock bass.

It was not long after this fishing trip that Captain Miley was back out on the water. This time, he had the pleasure of fishing with Avery and Dominick on a 6-hour fishing charter. They were traveling from Dallas, Texas looking to catch some peacock bass. Captain Miley took them on an adventure through the Aerojet Canal System.

The action was steady all trip long with several nice peacock bass to the boat. Avery and his friend Dominick did not catch any giant peacock bass but never got bored from the action. Most of their fish were in the 1-2 pound range with the biggest weighing in at 3 pounds. They also caught Mayan Cichlids that were in full force.

Honeymoon Fishing Charters 2When the action gets finicky, the best method to catch peacock bass is on live bait. You can also enjoy a day catching them on artificial lures but it gets harder if you are not an experienced angler. Captain Miley will get you on the fish either way.

Avery and Dominick had a great time catching peacock bass on this fishing trip. The weather was hot and the bass love it. It is the time of year that the bass move up on the flats making them even harder to catch. All-in-all, these guys had a great time catching peacock bass on this fishing charter.
