Two Big Bass Fishing Days
This archived Lake Okeechobee report follows Bob and Diane Moore on a two-day trip that compared Clewiston and Okeechobee City.
On the first day, the group fished a four-hour Clewiston trip and caught 10 largemouth bass. The standout fish was a female weighing about 8.5 pounds.
The second day from Okeechobee City produced more total action but less trophy quality. Bob and Diane caught 17 bass, many in the 3- to 4-pound range.
That contrast is the lasting value of this historical report. Different sides of Lake Okeechobee can fish very differently from one day to the next, and a higher catch count does not always mean larger fish.
Current anglers should choose location based on wind, water level, vegetation, water clarity, and fish movement rather than assuming Clewiston or Okeechobee City is always better.
