Hey, this is Captain Dave Lauer on July 23rd, today I took out Matt day and his wife Tracy and Tracy’s father from Meramec Oklahoma.

The weather Lake Okeechobee was sunny, with a nice lite breezy. We got a little bit of a late start, we got out there about 45 minutes to an hour after the sun came up. We started out fishing with mostly top water, we throw some Hollow body frogs , swimbaits from gambler the Big Easy and the little easy mostly in a shad pattern and also buzzbaits.  In the first hour we had, maybe 15 to 20 bites and landing. 6 or 7 fish. We had a lot of blowups, but they just weren’t taking it. I think if we would have gotten there earlier, the bite would have been better. But after that sun came up the topwater bite typical Okeechobee summertime pattern slowed down, so we pulled out the golden delicious shiners in head into a dynamite hole in the south end.

And there we proceeded to catch them really good, I think we went through 6 dozen shiners today catching fish up to 5 pounds and I had a really fun day.

Pictures will follow, this is Captain Dave signing out!
