Two Day North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing Adventure

North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing

This is Capt Steve with fishing report for the St Johns River.

Martin, a Virginia native has come down to take a North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing Adventure. This was a last minute trip since the weather was great and he wanted to escape to this amazing state.

The first day we went out of Lake Monroe, on the St. Johns River. I picked him up at his motel that was relatively close and we dropped the boat in and off we went.

He wanted to start out throwing top water. Martin had this modified frog that he threw on top of the abundant Florida mats. It wasn’t so long before he crushed it. It has produced quality fish for him and did today as well.

After that bite died down, we ran some shiners up under the mats. It is one of the most effective methods for fishing for massive largemouths.

The fishing conditions were great but we only caught about a dozen fish. The biggest fish weighed 6 pounds. For a spontaneous fishing trip, I think that’s a solid fish.

What a great day fishing on the River. The best part about fishing Florida is the abundance of lakes and body of water that hold quality fish.

The second day, we moved our way south to Lake Toho. Martin was persistent with his frog with no luck. We caught quite a few fish on the shiners using one of my favorite techniques on the lake, trolling.

What a great North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing Adventure. I had an amazing time with Martin and he sure is jokester. We had lots of great laughs and he is planning on coming back down next year.
