Our local South Florida fisheries are loaded with exotic species. The Florida peacock bass is the main focus here and is extremely exciting to catch. They fight incredibly hard and take long runs. If you have never caught one, it is a must, especially when visiting south Florida. The Lake Ida Chain of Lakes is the perfect place to do so!

Captain Mike Groshon had the pleasure to adventure out on the chain with the Capstone group. This was a large group that wanted to experience peacock bass fishing. You have to look into some of these exotics down here. Captain Mike had an amazing time fishing with Mark, Todd, and Keith. The other boats with Captain Wayne Fellows and Dave Lauer had the rest of the party.

The peacock bass was biting strong on this fishing trip. Everyone in the group was catching them up. Mark, Todd, and Keith caught several-quality bass from 2-3 pounds. When it comes to peacock bass fishing those are quality bass due to their strong body structure. It was their first peacock bass and they are extremely excited to come back and catch them up again.

Team Effort

These gentlemen had an absolute blast fishing on Lake Ida. The weather was beautiful making for a great afternoon. A nice breeze and bluebird skies truly made the trip even more special. Captain Mike is looking forward to fishing with Mark, Todd, and Keith again in the future!

Just shortly after this awesome fishing trip, Captain Mike adventured out on the chain of lakes again. This time he had the pleasure of fishing with Paul who was traveling from the United Kingdom. Paul was coming here to catch the exotic peacock bass. Lake Ida did not disappoint him on this fishing trip.

One of the blessings of fishing in South Florida is the great weather conditions, especially this time of year. Paul got some beautiful weather and a great bite from the peacock bass. Paul was thoroughly impressed with the fight of the peacock bass. He will be back for more action next time visiting the states. Now, Paul will have some great fishing stories to go back and tell his friends in the UK.
