Kingsley Lake is a nearly circular North Florida lake in Clay County, about six miles east of Starke. It is commonly described as a roughly 2,000-acre lake and is known for clear water, a sandy basin, substantial depth, and the round outline behind its “Silver Dollar Lake” nickname.

Kingsley Lake lies beside Camp Blanding near the headwaters of the Black Creek system. Boat access around Kingsley Lake can be limited or privately controlled. Before towing a boat, confirm permission and current conditions through local access providers and FWC freshwater sites, forecasts, and public boat-ramp resources. Camp Blanding occupies much of the east and south side of the lake area, and access rules can change with training schedules and security conditions.

Kingsley Lake History and Setting

The lake sits on Florida’s Trail Ridge in an area with a long military and settlement history. Camp Blanding became a major training installation during World War II and remains an important Florida National Guard facility. Residential development is concentrated mainly around the north and west sides of the lake.

Kingsley Lake forms part of the headwaters of the Black Creek system, which ultimately connects with the St. Johns River. Its circular shape, clear water, and deep basin distinguish it from many shallower marsh lakes elsewhere in North and Central Florida.
