13.2 with Captain Ken Walker

Rodman
★★★★★
We had an outstanding time with Captain Ken Walker. We caught 10 bass from 3 lbs to 13.2 pounds. We plan to make this a monthly booking. Couldn’t be more impressed with a guide or happier with the results

Hello "Mr. BIG!"....TIMES TWO!!

Rodman
★★★★★
This was my 3rd and 4th charter with Captain Ken, however, this was my 1st two-day, back-to-back charter. What made this charter extra special is taking my grandson, (that flew in from Virginia,) and introducing him to Bass Fishing. As usual, Captain Ken put us on the bite right away. Jason, (my grandson) stayed busy once he understood the guidance from Ken and began landing good numbers unassisted in the 3–5-pound range. Then he latched into a lunker that weighed in at 9lbs. 3ozs! (My personal best is 8lbs. 1oz.) We fished from 0700 until 1300 and called it a day. Returned the next day and picked up where we left off with one notable exception. Jason landed an 11lbs. 3oz "Behemoth!" To say we were overjoyed with the charter is an understatement. My grandson will be spoiled for life because this kind of success isn't normal for a novice fisherman; it is however standard operating procedure for our guide, Captain Ken Walker. As stated in my previous review, Ken Walker is the "MAN" and I cannot recommend him highly enough! (This is where I drop the microphone!)

Frequent Asked Questions of North Florida Fishing
What part of North Florida has the best fishing?

North Florida’s most appreciated fishing grounds, and one of the best areas in Florida. Nestled between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach is World Renowned St Johns River, and just east of St Augustine is a famed Rodman Reservoir. If you are more inland then look no farther then the Harris Chain of Lakes or a bit closer to Gainesville is Orange lake. All have the perfect mix of trophy bass and crappie fishing, and boy is it amazing what North Florida offers!

What is the best month to fish in North Florida?

North Florida is unique as it has the warm summer months, but also the very cool winters. This is because summer months bass seems to go deeper and be less active. In the spring and fall, you will find the most activity. The winter months are known for the big spawning bass, but also cold, windy seasonal days. More specifically, the best months are from late February to June (and, some years, even November) are when the weather cools off for an early winter.

What fish are biting in North Florida?
Here are the top North Florida fish to catch.
  • Largemouth bass. Sometimes called the “Black Bass,” the bass is highly prized for its fighting ability but not valued as a great food source.
  • Crappie…Sometimes called the “Speck,” the Crappie is highly prized for its taste and highly valued as a great food source.
  • Bluegill & Redread Panfish…Known as the original fish-eating table food. Simply called “Panfish,” the panfish is also highly prized for its taste and highly valued as a great food source.

How much is a 3 day fishing license in Florida?

The freshwater fishing license is available to Florida residents and Nonresidents alike. Anglers must purchase a regular resident or nonresident freshwater fishing license at $17 for three days, $30 for seven days, or $47 for one year, regardless of whether they fish from shore or a vessel.

Do senior citizens need a fishing license in Florida?

Florida residents age 65 or older only need a Florida Driver License or Identification Card to prove residency and age. They are not required to purchase the following recreational licenses and permits: Saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing, and hunting licenses.

Florida NonResidents are required to have a license, exceptions are only for full-time Florida residents.

How do people dress for fishing charter?

In layers is best, but fishing is casual. A sundress for ladies with bikini underneath is not uncommon. Khaki shorts for guys is as dressed up as anyone ever gets, long pants work if you’re not using to the sun. In the same vein, there are no “styles.” Get comfortable with whatever dress code is the norm. But always try to wear light colors as they are cooler.
