Captain Mark had the pleasure of fishing with two young hockey players looking to cash in on the action. John and his friend Braden were traveling from Pittsburgh. They were looking to tangle with some big smallmouth bass. Lake Erie did not disappoint them and produced an excellent day on the water. Conditions were great for bass fishing which always helps.

Cooler weather and water temperatures have stirred up the action. Smallmouth bass love the cooler temperatures. They become more active and in a stable feeding pattern during these times. Presque Isle Bay on Lake Erie is a great place to come and experience smallmouth bass fishing. Most of the bass were between 8-20 feet of water. You can catch most of them in locations from the cribs to the hammermill stacks.

John and Braden caught several quality smallmouth bass. The biggest bass weighed in at 5.5 pounds. Many also came in the 4 pound range. They were ecstatic to land the big bass they did. If you are looking to catch some smallmouth bass this fall, Lake Erie is the destination you want to fish.
