Captain John Leech had the pleasure of fishing with long-time repeat clients, Barry and Millie. They are locals to Florida and love to go bass fishing. Once a year, they choose 5 days to explore the endless waters of Central Florida with Captain John Leech! This will be their 26th year fishing with Captain John, now that’s something incredible.
When you spend this amount of time with someone, you no longer are clients, you become friends and family! Luckily, they came during a period of time that the fishing was spectacular. All year long you can experience this kind of fishing. They spent 4 days on Lake Jackson and one day on Kenansville Lake. Lake Jackson has been an amazing fishery to explore. If you are looking to catch more bass than your arms can handle, this is your destination.
On each trip, Barry and Millie ran out of their live bait. The action was fast and furious from the moment they made the first cast. Lake Jackson was all about putting large quantities of bass from 3-5 pounds in the boat. After several days of this action, they wanted to explore and catch a trophy largemouth bass. Kenansville Lake was the place to visit for this. They caught 25 largemouths with the biggest three weighing 7 pounds, 7.9 pounds, and 8.4 pounds.
Nothing beats Central Florida fishing and catching largemouth bass all trip long. Barry and Millie will be back for more action next year and Captain John is looking forward to their next adventure while Lake Jackson Shiner Fishing!
Just shortly after this set of fishing trips, Captain John was back out on the water with Frank and his brother Jim. They were exploring Central Florida and more specifically Lake Jackson on a two-day fishing adventure. Captain John contacted them the day before and confirmed they had a high pain threshold because the action was red hot.
Lake Jackson calls for large quantities of live bait. If you love to throw live bait, come to Central Florida. In two days of fishing, they went through 18 dozen wild-caught live shiners. A majority of the bass caught were within 3-4 pounds and they were stacked up in one location. The biggest bass of the fishing trip weighed in at 6.5 pounds.
Frank and Jim had a great time fishing on Lake Jackson. They will most certainly be coming back to explore what Central Florida has to offer. Captain John is looking forward to their next fishing trip in the near future!

Captain John had the pleasure of fishing with Skip and Carl. These clients were traveling to Florida to getaway. Bass fishing is also a major part of the plans. Captain Brent suggested Kenansville Lake for two amazing days of fishing. The action was non-stop both days on the water.
Skip and Carl had a blast catching big numbers of fish. They landed over 85 largemouth bass in two trips. Skip caught the largest one weighing 8.1 pounds. The bass are in a post-spawn pattern making them hungry and aggressive to eat. Wild-caught live shiners were the most effective method on this fishing trip.

Just shortly after this fishing trip, Captain Brent had the pleasure of fishing with repeat clients Dave and his friend Joseph. They were traveling to Florida to enjoy some time in the outdoors. Captain Brent took them to two incredible fishing lakes in Central Florida. Kenansville Lake and Lake Jackson are big bass factories in Central Florida.
The first day was spent on Lake Jackson and it was a good one. At the start of the day, the bite was slower than normal. When the sun came up, the action started to get good. Dave and Joseph caught over 20 bass on this fishing trip. Three of those fish were over 7 pounds. The shallow water near Lillies was the most productive area to fish with live bait.
On the second trip, Captain Brent took these great friends to Kenansville Lake. The action was stronger on this lake. Dave and Joseph caught a larger number of bass than the last trip boating over 40. Most of the fish caught were solid bass weighing from 3-5 pounds. The two biggest bass weighed in at 6.12 pounds and 6.9 pounds. Most of the bass were caught on artificial speed worms and swim jigs.
Dave and Joseph had a blast catching all those fish with Captain Brent. Captain Brent is looking forward to their next adventure in the near future!
It wasn’t long after these trips that Captain John Leech explored the waters of Central Florida. He had the pleasure of fishing with Ken and Ty who were traveling to Florida for some big bass. Well they got what they came for catching more bass than they thought on Lake Jackson.
Captain John brought out 8 dozen shiners and they were throwing them in 4 hours. Ken and Ty caught over 50 largemouth bass with the biggest weighing close to 7 pounds. It was a great day on the water. You can’t beat steady action and big bass! The conditions were perfect with a cool breeze and slight cloud cover.
Ken and Ty had a fantastic time fishing in Central Florida. Captain John is looking forward to fishing with these guys again in the near future!

Fishing is still red-hot in Kissimmee. I took Gary Carpenter who’s a buddy of mine from down in the Ft Myer area. Comes up fishing with me on a regular basis, carried him fishing and we had about (45) forty-five fish. We caught the liven day lights out of them, he had a good enough time he’s coming back again this Tuesday.
Lake Kissimmee covers some 38,000 acres from the mouth of the Kissimmee River on the north end to the exit of the river near US Highway 60 on the south end.
Specializing in largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and shellcracker. Part of the Kissimmee Chain of lakes. Expansive stands of native aquatic grasses at Philadelphia Point, North Cove and Brahma Island provide anglers with cover to flip plastic baits or slow-troll golden shiners for spawning bass during the winter and spring. Rattling crankbaits, soft jerkbaits and Texas or Carolina-rigged plastic worms fished in open-water or along edges of vegetation are productive during summer and fall. Fly fishermen have good success wade fishing along the miles of shoreline on Lake Kissimmee. Lake Kissimmee is rich with wildlife, including bald eagles, white tailed deer, bobcats, turkeys and big alligators.
Caught about (40) Forty Fish in Six Hours in Orlando

We had a great trip again today and I just wanted to give you a little update of the current fishing conditions. The fish today were caught on buzz-baits first thing in the morning and on a Bass Assassin worms 7-1/2″ junebug color with a 3/16″oz weight after the sun got overhead.
We had a great time and caught about (40) forty fish in six hours, it was pretty stead all day as long.
Just had Phil Powers out fishing, he got a real nice fish it was just over 7 pounds. I’m going to put him on the phone,
“Hey, I had a great time fishing with Captain, John Leech we went to a lot of places on the lake and we had good luck today. I caught a (7) seven-pounder and I had a really great time, he did a good job helping me find the fish.”
