Captain Miley had the pleasure of fishing with Paul, his son, and two buddies. They were traveling from Tampa looking to experience all that Miami had to offer. Paul also needed some well-deserved break from working as an engineer for John Deere. They had an awesome day on the water with lots of big bass in the boat.

The Falls Canal System has been the most productive fishery for peacock bass in South Florida. Live bait was the most effective method but they also caught them on artificial baits as well. Conditions were wet and rainy at times. This group of gentlemen caught over 30 peacock bass on their fishing trip with the biggest weighing up to 3 pounds.

Miami Continues its Success

Just shortly after this awesome fishing adventure, Captain Miley went out on another trip in the Falls Canal System. Santiago was a Miami native looking to explore something different. Peacock bass fishing was the perfect outdoor activity to do so. Santiago always wanted to catch peacock bass and this trip was the one to get it done.

Water levels rose in the canal system allowing for the bass to be deeper. When the fish go deeper, they tend to bite less. You have to be patient and allow your bait to settle to the bottom. Santiago caught 10 quality peacock bass with one weighing in close to 4 pounds. The bite has been amazing in Miami and is only going to get better!

Santiago had an amazing time on the water. Captain Miley is looking forward to fishing with this gentleman again in the future!
