First Time Bass Fishing on Lake Okeechobee in Florida

First Time Bass Fishing

If you travel to Florida often and have never fished Lake Okeechobee, it is a must. First time bass Fishing is one of the most exciting outdoor activities you can partake in while visiting the state. Lake Okeechobee is very well-fished.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Randy and his wife Carol. They were traveling from North Carolina to fish on Lake Okeechobee for their first time. It was a great day out on the water for them.

Randy and Carol wanted to catch bass on artificial baits as well. The most effective baits were spinner baits, flukes, and stick baits. Clearwater and hydrilla were the main focus of fishing structures and conditions on this trip.

Fishing pressure was high but we still managed to catch several quality largemouth bass weighing up to 4.75 pounds. We had an amazing first time bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee, and I am looking forward to doing it again.

For most of my life fishing has been a passion. Over the years I have fished bass tournaments across Pennsylvania and on lakes and rivers up and down the East Coast. I have participated in B.A.S.S., FLW Stren Series, Walmart BFL’s and ABA tournaments along with finishing 2nd in the 2012 Keystone Bass Classic on Lake Erie, to name a few.
