Captain Joe had the pleasure of bass fishing with Steve Matera for three days. Steve was traveling from Iowa looking to explore the waters of South Florida. His goal was to catch largemouth bass and peacock bass while on a visit. The first destination Captain Joe adventured out with Steve was on the Miami Airport Lakes. This is a fantastic fishery for peacock bass.

It did not take long for Steve to get hooked into his desired fish. When you explore Airport Lakes, you do not have to go far and wait long to catch peacock bass. Steve caught his within the first 10 minutes of the fishing trip. The bucket list trip was accomplished and the rest of the time was a lot of fun for Steve.

Fishing conditions were not ideal for peacock bass fishing but that did not stop the bass from biting. Temperatures on this fishing trip were at about 70 degrees with strong winds coming out of the east. Steve caught 7 peacock bass and 3 largemouth bass in his quick 4-hour fishing trip.

Steve’s next adventure with Captain Joe takes them to the Everglades along Alligator Alley. The Everglades is one of the TOP BASS FISHING DESTINATIONS in Florida. You truly can’t beat the action for largemouth bass with artificial lures. Steve went out in the glades throwing soft plastic worms, topwater baits, jerk baits, and much more.

The action was fantastic with over 33 largemouth bass in the boat. Conditions were perfect for most of the trip until the thunderstorms rolled in. As well, one of our many Florida cold fronts was rolling in but that did not stop the bass from biting strong.

Finally, we come to the last and best day on the water with Steve. Captain Joe took Steve back out to the Everglades for an artificial fishing slugfest. It was non-stop action from the first cast. Steve put over 135
