Once the water temperatures rose as the sun started shining, the bass began to bite. Sandy and Steve caught 6 quality peacock bass with two very nice ones weighing 5 pounds. The others were in the weight range of 2-3 pounds. Captain Miley had to work for the bass and moved around quite a bit with these difficult fishing conditions. Sandy and Steve were satisfied with their day on the water and will be back for more action in the near future!
Captain Joe Gruny had the pleasure of fishing with Jose and his son Leo. They were traveling to Florida on vacation and wanted to try something different. Miami peacock bass fishing was most certainly on the list of things to do. Conditions rolled in that made fishing slightly more difficult than normal but that did not stop Captain Joe from working hard and getting this father-son duo on some fish. It was not long after this fishing trip that Captain Miley was back out on the water. He had the pleasure of fishing on a two boat fishing charter with Captain Kirk Osborne. Captain Miley had the pleasure of fishing with Chan and his son out on Miami’s Airport Lakes. It was one of the coldest days of the year with the wind blowing. Luckily, the conditions cleared up and the bass began to bite in the later afternoon.
Chan had on a big bass but he missed it as it ran into the structure and got off. Shortly after, Chan landed his first peacock bass along with his son. They had a great time but were hoping the conditions were going to be better for them. Next time, we will get them on some more action and Captain Miley is looking forward to it.
No Matter the Captain
Captain Kirk Osborne had Chan’s co-worker and friend Neil and his son Charlie on the boat. Chan and Neil work for the House of Raeford out of South Carolina and wanted to come back and go fishing for peacock bass. Last year, they came down and fished on Lake Okeechobee. Before their largemouth bass fishing trip this year, they wanted to squeeze in the exotic peacock bass.
Charlie had never fished in Florida before and this was his first time. His goal was to catch a peacock bass but the weather was not very cooperative. After the first 15 minutes into the trip, Charlie hooked into what he was looking for. Shortly after that, Neil hooked into his first peacock bass as well. The bite slowed down quite a bit, so they moved on catching an additional 4 peacock bass in their quick 4-hour fishing trip.
Neil, Charlie, Chan, and his son had a great time fishing for peacock bass. They will be back for more action next year and hopefully, they get nice weather. Captain Bob Miley and Kirk Osborne are looking forward to their next adventure!
