First Trip with Captain Bill

“Cold fronts are inevitable during this time in Central Florida. Fortunately, spending days on the water helps figuring out the pattern during all conditions. Utilizing slow working artificial baits and live bait is an effective method of putting fish in the boat.  Winter Lake Tarpon Fishing 3

I had the pleasure of fishing with Jake and his good friends. They were traveling from Indiana on vacation searching for some warmer weather. Unfortunately, they brought down some cooler weather with them. Windy and cloudy conditions did not make for the best fishing conditions, but I made it happen.

During times like this, the largemouth bass finds a structure that will keep them warm. Generally, thick vegetation will retain heat to help them stay warm. Also, docks are a great place to retain heat. On this fishing trip, a mix of grass and docks helped put bass in the boat.

Jake and his good friends had a blast catching largemouth bass all trip long. They caught over 10 fish with the biggest weighing close to 3 pounds. Most of the fish were caught on live bait with a mix of artificial baits in between.

I am looking forward to showing Jake and his friends another amazing fishing trip in the near future!” – Captain Bill Goudy Jr

Second Trip with Captain Bill shortly after first:

Winter Lake Tarpon Fishing 2“Florida has been experiencing some winter weather on select days. The fishing though is still productive and can be enjoyed. I had the pleasure of fishing with Mike and Brian. They were traveling from Illinois looking to cash in on some freshwater fishing while visiting the west coast of Florida.

Lake Tarpon is an exceptional destination to catch big bass while visiting Tampa, FL. Within minutes, you can be catching some beautiful fish. Mike and Brian hooked into some quality largemouth bass. Live bait was yet again the most productive bait to reel this nice fish in.

The biggest fish of the day was a 5-pound largemouth bass. They also caught several 3-4 pound bass as well. Every trip can yield to you the fishing that you are after. You just never know what will happen on a Florida bass fishing trip.

Cloudy and breezy conditions with cool temperatures did not get the bass fired up, but it did make Mike and Brian excited to get back out on the water soon. Once the weather is warm, they want to come back to catch more bass.

I am looking forward to our next adventure!”

February Lake Toho Fishing 2“What a day on the water! Some days are just magical and a lot of fun to experience. I had the pleasure of fishing with a young lady, Katrina. She is in the Army and while taking a break wanted to go bass fishing. Lake Toho Bass Fishing was the perfect fit for her and we went out to see how the fish were biting.

Luckily, the bass fishing was on fire and Katrina caught fish all trip long. It was really nice to see someone have so much excitement when reeling in largemouth bass. We most certainly lost count of the number of bass we caught on this trip. The biggest fish weighed in at 5 pounds, which happened to be her biggest fish ever.

Most of the additional fish caught weighed in the 3-4 pound range. The quality of bass is most certainly going up. Katrina was a wonderful person to fish with and is looking forward to spending another day on the water soon!” – Capt John Leech

Fishing with Captain Brent Nelson

“Several places in the United States can produce exceptional fishing all year long. Lake Toho in Kissimmee, FL is most certainly one of them. One of my greatest pleasures in life is getting people on fish at this beautiful location.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Ed on a Lake Toho Bass Fishing charter. He was traveling from Pennsylvania looking to cash in on some Florida largemouth bass. Sunny and calm conditions made for a fantastic day on the water.

February Lake Toho Fishing 1Submerged vegetation was the main focus on this fishing trip. Wild-caught live shiners produced the best bite all trip long on the main lake. It surely was a productive day on the water for Ed for more than just largemouth bass. Ed caught largemouth, gar, chain pickerel, and bowfin. It was a blast to watch him reel in all these different species.

Ed also enjoyed catching a big beautiful female largemouth bass weighing in at 6 pounds. You truly can’t beat the action on Lake Toho on some trips. He put 47 bass in the boat on his 8-hour fishing charter and enjoyed every moment.

I am looking forward to fishing with him again in the near future!” – Capt Brent Nelson

Fishing with Captain Devin Dickerson

“One of the best parts about being a guide is getting out on the water with young kids. They soak up all the knowledge and experience that I can give them. I had the pleasure of fishing with two brothers, Ryder and Brenner. They were 12 and 14 years old looking to get out on Lake Toho.

Lake Toho Bass Fishing is starting to pick up strong during these prime months. Whether you want to throw artificial baits or live bait, you can really have a wonderful time outdoors. These brothers were traveling from San Diego looking to cash in on some Florida bass fishing.

Ryder and Brenner really knew how to fish. On their quick 4-hour fishing charter, they landed over 15 largemouth bass. The biggest bass weighed in close to 4-pounds which was a solid fish for the conditions presented to us.  February Lake Toho Fishing 4

Windy and cloudy conditions can most certainly slow the bite when combined with cooler morning temperatures. Even with all this, these boys had a fantastic time setting the hook into the bass all trip long.

I am looking forward to the next chance to explore what Kissimmee has to offer them next time!” – Capt Devin Dickerson

January Pontoon Bass Fishing 4“The new addition of our pontoon fishing boats made bass fishing in Central Florida a lot of fun. The repeats that have fished with me in the past are now coming back to explore the waters on this open boat. Luckily, I can take the pontoon boat up to the waters near Orlando as well.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Larry, Gene, and Phil. They were traveling from Wisconsin looking to spend some time on the water. While doing so, setting the hook into a largemouth bass was a must.

Breezy and Cloudy conditions made for an interesting bite. During these conditions, the live bait bite can be slower than normal. Luckily, throughout our 4-hour fishing trip, we found some nice fish.

Larry, Gene, and Phil caught over 10 largemouth bass on their quick fishing trip. Even though the numbers were down, they had a blast spending time with each other. It was their first time on the pontoon boat and they will most certainly be coming back for more action.

I am looking forward to fishing with them again in the near future!” – Capt Steve Niemoeller

Breezy and cloudy conditions this time produced a strong bite for this family. They caught over 20 largemouth bass on this trip with some big ones in the boat. Most of the fish caught were in the 4-5 pound range. The biggest fish caught by Dave’s daughter weighed in at just over 6 pounds.

There is nothing like getting out with the whole family and landing some big bass. Live bait was the perfect method for everyone to have fun and enjoy their time fishing.

I am most certainly looking forward to fishing with them again soon!” – Capt Devin Dickerson

Fishing with Captain Steve on Lake Toho:

“This trip, I had the pleasure of fishing with a wonderful family out of Colorado. Josh, Kelli, Sawyer, and Lane all joined us out on a pontoon boat on Lake Toho. Lake Toho Bass Fishing was a great way to get them in the outdoors.

While just looking to soak up some sun and explore the outdoors, this family really enjoyed their fishing adventure. Their 5 and 2-year-old got to get exposed to fishing at a young age that could have them addicted for a lifetime.

January Pontoon Bass Fishing 2Trips like this make my job as a Captain so amazing. I love sharing my passion for fishing with generations to come. Sunny and Breezy weather created a nice bite on this 4-hour fishing trip.

They put over 10 bass in the boat with no giant fish caught. It was less about the fishing and more about getting out on the water to see more of what Kissimmee had to offer.

Everyone, including myself, had a great time and I am looking forward to seeing them out on the water next time!” – Capt Steve

January Lake Toho Fishing Report from Kissimmee Florida

January Lake Toho Fishing Report

January has arrived and the bass fishing in Central Florida is starting to pick up. Travelers visit Kissimmee, Florida from across the globe to come experience what it has to offer. When visiting, most travelers and families explore the endless parks and outdoor activities. One of the best outdoor activities you can explore in Central Florida is bass fishing. This January Lake Toho Fishing Report can make open up a whole new world for your family.

Florida bass fishing, especially in Kissimmee is getting red hot. This time of year promotes some of the best fishing to be had. One of the main reasons is the largemouth bass spawn. During the cooler months and most certainly around full moon phases, largemouth bass begins their spawning process.

Now until May, you can explore any largemouth bass fishery and have the chance to catch a spawning fish. The most important factor to keep in mind when it comes to catching spawning fish is to never put too much stress on them. A big female, when caught properly, will return right back to her bed.

Our local experts understand the value of maintaining our fisheries. When you embark on an adventure with them, they will show how to properly catch large female bass and safely release them.

In this January Lake Toho Fishing Report, you will get a sneak peek of what is to come for bass fishing here in Central Florida with our local experts.

Fishing with Captain Brent Nelson

January Lake Toho Fishing Report 1“I had the pleasure of fishing with Ntxoovxeem and Mietrue, who were looking to cash in on some bass fishing here on Lake Toho. They were traveling from Clearwater, Florida wanting to get out and do some freshwater fishing. It was a fantastic day to do so.

This trip was a quick 6-hour fishing charter. It was split between wild-caught live shiners and artificial baits. When fishing both baits, it is crucial to find grass structures that hold fish. Sparse hydrilla in the shallow and open water made for a productive day on the water. Windy conditions helped stack fish up in pockets and corners of the grass.

Ntxoovxeem and Mietrue caught over 35 largemouth bass on their fishing trip. The biggest fish was caught on live bait weighing up to 5.95 pounds. Also, they landed 15 of these bass on artificial baits. The most productive baits on this trip were speed worms, flukes, and texas rigs worms. Shallow grass was the main area of focus.

This couple had a fantastic time catching some quality bass on Lake Toho. I am looking forward to seeing them back out on the water next time!” – Capt Brent Nelson

Fishing with Captain John Leech

“On this fishing trip, I had the pleasure of fishing with Tony on Lake Toho. He was escaping the cold from the northern part of the states with his family. While they were exploring Disney and the theme parks, he scheduled a day to go fishing.

Lake Toho Bass Fishing was the perfect option for him to explore. John and his family make an annual trip to Central Florida and bass fishing is a must. We had a great day on the water fishing with live shiners. Live bait is the way to go when looking to put numbers in the boat.

Tony ran out of bait in just a quick 2-hours of his fishing trip. The action, especially for male bass, is on fire. After going through the live bait, he switched to artificial baits. Soft-plastics including flukes, speed worms, and sencos were very productive for a short period.  January Lake Toho Fishing Report 3

Bright sunny skies with no wind did not stop the action on this fishing trip. Tony had a great time and I am looking forward to fishing with him again!” – Capt John Leech

Fishing with Captain Steve Niemoeller

“I had the pleasure of fishing with Linda and Bill. They were traveling from South Florida on a little Florida getaway. While doing so, Lake Toho fishing was on the menu. The action was slower than normal but everyone on board had a great time reeling in fish.

Unfortunately, this time of year can produce cooler weather in the morning. As a result, Linda and Bill were catching them steadily throughout their quick 4-hour fishing trip. Sunny and breezy conditions promoted a decent bite for them.

Wild-caught live shiners were the most productive method to catch bass on this trip. Most of the fish were males in the 2-3 pound range.

Every trip yields different results especially when cold fronts roll through. Linda and Bill enjoyed their time on the water and are looking forward to seeing what their next adventure can bring.” – January Lake Toho Fishing Report 2Capt Steve Niemoeller

Productive Kissimmee Bass Fishing 2One of the greatest joys I have is sharing along my passion for fishing. I had the pleasure of fishing with Ray and Joe. They were traveling from New England looking to cash in on some Florida Bass Fishing.

Lake Toho Bass Fishing was incredibly productive on this fishing trip. Ray and Joe enjoyed catching bass on artificial baits. The most productive baits were soft plastic worms, topwater poppers, swim jigs, flukes, and more.

When looking to catch bass on Lake Toho, focus on the thick grass structures including hydrilla. Ray and Joe caught over 25 Florida largemouth bass on this fishing trip. The biggest fish caught weighed in at 3.5 pounds.

Bob and Diane love action and will be back for more of it. I am looking forward to our next adventure in the near future.” – Capt Steve Niemoeller

It was not long after this fishing trip that Captain Brent Nelson was out on the water searching for some bass.

“Today, I had the pleasure of fishing with Michael on a solo fishing trip. Unfortunately, hot and calm conditions made for a tough bite. Michael was traveling from Sweden and came to experience what bass fishing was like. Productive Kissimmee Bass Fishing 3

All the action he could get was exciting for him, especially when traveling from Sweden. We could have used some wind but we made the best of it. Sometimes, you have to find pockets that hold fish on points or under mats.

The big fish were biting but could not stay on the hook. Michael managed several bass in the 3-4 pound range. He had two other fish over 5 pounds but they spit the hook before getting to the net.

Michael had a blast fishing on Lake Toho. He will be back on his next adventure to Florida. I am looking forward to fishing with him again soon!” – Capt Brent Nelson

Family Lake Toho Bass Fishing

Families travel far and wide to experience what Central Florida has to offer. After exploring the theme parks and on-land activities, most adventure out on the water. One of the best ways to do that is on a family Lake Toho bass fishing charter. You never know what you will catch and see while exploring what Kissimmee, FL has to offer.

Lake Tohopekaliga is located in Kissimmee, FL. Right now, this fishery is one of the most productive to experience. Our local experts, especially Captain Steve Niemoeller can get you around some beautiful bass.

Bass fishing in Central FL is a lot of fun. It is the perfect place to introduce family members to the great outdoors. Largemouth bass are the target species and grow quite large in Kissimmee, FL. Every trip can land you a trophy bass that you will never forget.

In the next several months, our season begins. Our season is the time when largemouth bass begins to spawn. When this occurs, males come off the main lake first. They prep the beds for the females to move in. When the females move in, they begin to feed heavily. This is a good time to cash in on big bass.

After fighting and catching them with conservation in mind, a quick picture with a release is always the best. Let that beautiful big bass go back to where she was.

The best time to catch bass of this caliber is from January through April. If you are looking strictly for big bass, plan your trips around the prime moon phases of each of these months. Largemouth bass may feed at night but the moon tells them when to spawn, along with many other factors.

Currently, the fishing has been fantastic. We have not seen any giant fish begin caught quite yet. Males are roaming around and feeding strong though. It is a good sign of what is to come.

Below, you will get to watch a wonderful family come explore Lake Toho. They wanted to get out and do some family Lake Toho bass fishing while visiting Kissimmee, FL.

Family Bass Fishing on a Pontoon Boat with Captain Steve Niemoeller:

“I had the pleasure of fishing with Leo, his brother Vic, their Mom, and good family friend Charlie. They were traveling from Bloomington, Indiana, which was close to where I grew up. It was neat to have this in common with this family. Leo’s Mom lives in Orlando and they were coming to visit!

Leo was a high school fisherman looking to catch some Florida bass. He had an absolute blast catching numbers of largemouth bass. One of my favorite parts of this trip was watching his face light up when the fish made it to the net.

After losing several bites due to the bass begin picky, Leo gave the fish more time. As a result, he landed even more bass on this trip. It was in the last moments that he caught his biggest bass.

Vic landed some nice bass as well on this fishing trip. He also caught a chain pickerel put up a nice little fight. This young man had a great time helping out and catching fish.

All-in-all, this family caught over 30 Florida largemouth bass on this trip. The biggest bass was caught by Leo weighing in at 3.24 pounds. A nice breeze and sunny skies made for a great day on the water.

Everyone had a fun time while pontoon vessel fishing and I am looking forward to seeing them back on the water soon!” – Captain Steve Niemoeller

Family Lake Toho Bass Fishing“Meet Brian and his good friend David. I had the pleasure of fishing with these two great friends traveling from Ohio and Washington DC. While coming to Kissimmee, FL on vacation, they wanted to go out bass fishing.

It was a quick 4-hour bass fishing charter on Lake Toho. The trip was split between wild-caught live shiners and artificial baits. The action was strong with both methods.

Brian and David had a lot of fun catching bass all trip long. They caught 27 largemouths in their quick 4-hour trip. The most productive artificial baits were chatter baits, zoom trick worms, and senkos.

The biggest bass caught on this charter weighed in at 6.70 pounds. It was a beautiful fish for this time of year. Windy points on the main lake pushed bait and attracted the fish.

After finding these points and the hydrilla around them, we put some fish in the boat. The bite was fast and furious from this point. Great times and views from the early morning skies made the trip complete.

I am looking forward to fishing with Brian and David again soon!” – Captain Brent Nelson
