East Lake Toho, on the other hand, is exceptionally clear, often with great visibility to depths up to 10 feet. It contains much less vegetation than West Lake Toho and, with the exception of its northwest corner, the existing growths are basically confined to a narrow band of perimeter reeds and Kissimmee grass. While water-color is still the same tannic acid rain color common to most of the lakes, rivers, and canals of Florida, the lesser vegetation results in only a noticeable color rather than a dark stain. East Lake is nearly circular in shape and covers approximately 12,000 acres. It is a perfect example of what is often called a `soup bowl’ lake. There are no continuously flowing tributaries, which helps the lake level by maintaining the influx of water to the upper watershed lakes. [READ MORE...] or reserve your trip below.

Construction of the Kenansville Re-diversion Project by the St. Johns River Water Management District and the Army Corps of Engineers commenced this May. It consists of a large weir and flow-way constructed in the levee east of the boat ramp and the plugging of the canal in the northeast corner of the lake. The purpose is to provide hydrological separation of Kenansville Lake from the C-40 canal draining Blue Cypress Lake. Kenansville Lake will then drain into the marsh to the north, where vegetation will extract much of the nutrient load known to exist in these waters. Construction is expected to be completed in mid-June with plugging of the canal following soon afterward. Anglers should be aware that they will no longer be able to run from Blue Cypress Lake to Kenansville Lake. [READ MORE...] or reserve your trip below.

Lake Kissimmee fishing trips specialize in catching largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, and shell cracker. This Lake is the southernmost lake on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes. Expansive stands of native aquatic grasses at Philadelphia Point, North Cove, and Brahma Island provide anglers with cover to flip plastic baits or slow-troll golden shiners for spawning bass during the winter and spring. Rattling crankbaits, soft jerk baits, and Texas or Carolina-rigged plastic worms fished in open-water or along edges of vegetation are productive during summer and fall. Fly fishermen have good success wade fishing along the miles of shoreline on Lake Kissimmee. Lake Kissimmee is rich with wildlife, including bald eagles, white-tailed deer, bobcats, turkeys, and big alligators.
