Saint Johns River Fishing Report

This is Capt Steve with fishing report for the St Johns River.

The Saint Johns is looking very healthy this time of year. I had the pleasure to fish with Mark and Sean today. They are traveling from Virginia to come catch these North Florida St. Johns Largemouth Bass. This Saint Johns River Fishing Report is one for the books.

Live bait is always the recommended technique when you want to catch big bass. If you want to target bass this time of year with artificial, I would advise you find staging fish getting ready to spawn. Throwing artificial through out the trip led to a couple blow ups but nothing would connect.

Shiners will always be the key to catching the big bass when it comes to mat fishing. Letting those shiners run under the mats really brings out the big females. Mark let the shiners run and caught him a big bass weighing 6 pounds. Later on, another one was caught weighing 6 pounds 6 ounces.

The second day also brought us luck. Catching about a dozen quality largemouth bass with the best right less than 6 pounds. The rest of the fish that day were in the 3-4 pound range.

The St. John’s River is highly effective this time of year. If you have not experienced a North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing Adventure and want to, contact us and we will provide you with a trip of a lifetime.
