Searching For Quality Rodman Reservoir North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing
Here is your Searching For Quality Rodman Reservoir North Florida Largemouth Bass Fishing report. I had the pleasure to fish with Austin and his brother, Chops. The Rodman Reservoir in North Florida is beautiful this time of year.
We were searching for quality largemouth bass that live here. We had a late start to the day because one of the main roads getting to the reservoir was blocked. It produced some traffic but, we finally made it and it turned out to be a really nice day.
Temperature played a key factor to the bite today. We fished right before a front was rolling through, which I thought would produce a better bite, but it did not. The water temperature was still lower than normal in the low sixties.
We started off throwing some artificial baits, since the top water bite is usually on early in the morning. Today, it wasn’t.
So, I had to throw on a shiner for them. It did not take much time after the shiner hit the water for it to start enticing the big fish. That action it produces always attracts fish. I told Austin to get ready, and gave him the rod. The fish swarmed the shiner and busted out of the water. Austin was ecstatic. It was right around 5 pounds, one of the better fish we caught today.
We ended up having a great day with the shiners, especially since we had one over 6 pounds. Luckily, we did got some quality fish with those pre-frontal conditions. We just could not get the artificial bite going.
