I had the pleasure to be invited to a one of a kind event in Miami last weekend. The first annual “Vamos a Pescar Miami” at Tropical Park. The event was presented by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), in partnership with Miami-Dade Parks; VamosAPescar.org; Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida; U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; Guy Harvey Oceans Foundation; Pescando en los CayosTV show; and Mira TV.

It was a day of free recreational and educational fishing and boating activities and outdoor skills taking place at the park’s north lake. The FWC enriched our knowledge with a law enforcement presentation, Bass Pro Shops associates helped kids fishing by giving them tips and teaching them how to do it, Dais Inflatable BB Gun Range and Sport Shooting gave us a fun experience in order to educate people in what shooting as a sport is all about, Food trucks provided excellent food and Live Music by “Havana Soul” definitely was the cherry on top.

As a hispanic descendant, I find these activities as encouraging and motivational for my culture. It is so incredible to see how latinos form part of this big fishing community. We hope to see everybody again next year!
