Two Days with Keith and Steven Schwab from Louisiana
Peacock Bass Fishing Two Days with Keith and Steven Schwab from Louisiana
Hey, good afternoon ladies and gentleman. This is Captain Roger calling back for another fishing report for Bass Online!
Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Keith Schwab and his son Steven on September 12th and 13th. We had a couple of great days of fishing, these guys are from Louisiana. Steven is down here doing the physical therapy school, he is going to medical school down here in St Augustine Florida. Things started on Friday we went out of Airport lakes or Blue Lagoon known as a good, good fishing spot for Peacock bass. Based on the weather this week, we had a kind of front moving in from the Bahamas.
It was a pleasure to fish with this couple, they were tremendous avid fishermen real nice and funny people. The fishing on Friday, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t that good like I was expecting it to be. We ended up catching only (17) seventeen peacocks the biggest one probably about 4 pounds. But we had to work pretty hard for them. But at the end of the day, we were only fishing for 6 hours, and let me tell you. At the end of the day we only had (6) six fish in the boat with (1) one hour left in the trip. We ended up catching (10) ten fish back to back, close to the boat ramp and it saved our day-to-day.
On Saturday, I took the same guys back to a private place I got and let me tell you guys. That’s where everything started it, we to a place called the pits and the day started a little slow again. It was raining and blowing, blowing like crazy in the morning. But all of sudden the sun came out and that was the action we needed. We ended up with (35) thirty-five Peacock bass, we caught about (10) ten Peacock bass on top-water, (5) five on jerk-baits and caught a few peacock on shiners.
Let me tell you guys, these guys were all pumped up the adrenaline was rushing. The smallest fish we caught on Saturday was (2-1/5 lbs) two and a half pounds, the biggest was five pounds and it was a blast!
