Peacock bass fishing in Maimi, Florida

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with repeat customers of mine Jim Cain from Cahokia, TN. They have been fishing with me for the last four years and it’s always great to see them. We went out to seek the mighty peacock bass today, so we headed to the Miami area due to the resent cold fronts. It always good to move further south for the warmer water.

Fishing today was good, but you had to work hard to catch them…it’s called fishing to most of us, in most case it makes the reward of catching them that much better.  James and Jamie caught peacock bass, a tarpon, a snook and a big jack. All of these were caught on one fishing trip today!

Thank you for the good time guys, looking forward to seeing you again…

A Dream comes true for a PA fisherman…

Monday, November 24th, 2008

This week Devin Cole of Holitong, PA spent 4 days with us fishing for the mighty  Florida peacock bass. I had the pleasure of spending 3 of the 4 days with Devin in search of this hard fighting speices.

Devin is just recently starting to get into the sport of bass fishing and as his knowledge exspans so does his experiences. Devin replies, “I always wanted to catch a peacock bass.” So we gave him the chance to catch them in 4 separate locations and 4 different ways. All 4 areas were planed out with awesome results.

While some days are always better than others, but we all know (THAT’S FISHIN). I would say we boated 70 plus peacock bass in 4 days from 1 to 5 pounds. It really was a very exiting venture, Devin had such a great time he’s already planning another trip with his son anf friends in March.

We are looking forward to fishing with him again, it will be a blast once agian.

Good Fishin,

Peacock Bass in Florida

Today I  took out David Irving all the way from the United Kingdom(UK). The day started a little slow due to our first cold front of the year, once the sun broke it started to pick up rather quickly. It ended up being a very exciting day of

peacock bass fishing here in South Florida.

David is an avid fisherman and once he figured out how the where biting there was no stopping him. By the end of the day, he boated 32 fish up to 4 lbs and a couple of really nice pictures to take back home.

What a great day on the water it was today, it was amazing how well David adapted to the Florida Peacock bass!

chevron-and-phillep-002.jpg

Today I met up in the afternoon with Willy and his friend John. Willy is a fly fishing instructor and stuck to fly fishing all day, while John was pitching live bait to the key areas. Willy was putting the fly every where I asked him, I said…put it under the tree, he did it.

In just four short hours I had these two guys out they caught 17 fish, with a mix of peacock bass and largemouth. Willy is planning on being back next month.

Phillip is back for revenge from Switzerland

Monday, October 27th, 2008

chevron-and-phillep-001.jpg

Phillip is back for another four days of peacock bass and largemouth bass fishing, we met up early in the morning hours for our new adventure and long drive to Miami. When we got to our location we launched the boat in the water, as we tied on our plugs for the day which consided of topwater and sub surface lures made by luckycraft.

The first fish of the day was caught by Phillip it was right around 3 pounds, it was a peacock bass. As we moved on in the day we went back to Phillip’s favorite spot and the bite was on. We caught over 15 fish in that one spot, all largemouth bass. By the end of the day we caught over 60 fish on artificial lures made by lucky craft. Phillip will be gone for the next two days with his girlfriend, he will be back for 3 more days starting Thursday.

The Purina “Bass Fishing” Boys fishing in Florida

Monday, October 20th, 2008

purina-boys-and-philep-008.jpg

What a good group of guys, they all work for Purina Pet food company. If you like the outdoors and have animals give Purina a try, the folks there love the outdoors.

Mark, Rob, and Chris called me up just to make sure they where not using live bait, they fish tournaments back home and wanted to use artificial lures only. Of coarse, I said no problem lets go fishing and see what you can do. It did not take long for me to realize these boys are some serious tournament fisherman.

This was going to be adventure for sure, they had scheduled a sunrise to sunset trip so I know we were going to  have a long day of fishing.  The day went a little better then expected and it was not without the highs and lows a long day provides, but we managed to have another great day in October which considered by most to be one of the worst months of the year for bass fishing. By the end of the day we caught 17  good solid large mouth bass and peacock bass, up to four pounds.

The fish were caught on swim baits, top water plugs and hard jerk baits style lures.

South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Today I took Julie Futscher and her son Robert from Moores Hill, IN out for some hard fighting fun in the sun. It was a great day on the water, they boated 21 bass in a 6 hour super half day trip. Robert had one on about 6 pounds and it went around a piling and broke the line, what a heart breaker. But that’s what fishing is all about, you catch some and loose some.

All said and done it was another great day on the water.

Day Three with Phillip from Switzerland

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

purina-boys-and-philep-006.jpg

On day 3 due to the moon cycle the fishing slowed down a little, we were still catching a lot of little fish, but only in the one and two pound class.

We moved around a lot and had to cover a lot of water, our bigger fish came right at sunset and that’s when Phillip caught this nice peacock bass on the 4th day. I asked Phillip if he wanted to fish his first tournament and he said, yes so we are off to fish Lake Okeechobee tomorrow.

Peacock Bass Fishing with the Mitchell’s

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Florida Peacock Bass Picture

This week we had Joe and Athena Mitchell from the Bronx in New York fishing with us, I had the pleasure of spending the last 2 days with them. Day 1 with me we went down to Miami for the hard fighting peacock bass.

This couple are long time repeat customer and a blast to fish with, we had a pretty good day boating about 16 peacock bass. Right at the end of the day Joe hooked into a tarpon that was about 25 to 30 pounds, he got to fight this fish for about 5 minutes. Just when the fight was about over, the line nicked the prop on the outboard and  broke off.  The tarpon jumped 4 times and gave us a great aerial show.

On day 2 we went to Lake Ida to do something a little different. The day started of hot and ended pretty good, they boated 25 fish with a 6 pound kicker large-mouth bass. I think this was Joe’s personal biggest bass ever!

Lake Ida fishing

I’m looking forward to seeing them again in March, maybe Joe can break his record again.
