Lake Ida Peacock Bass

Lake Ida Peacock Bass

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking out Eddie Krovits of North Andover, MA. Eddie was in town for a short time and wanted to try his luck at the hard fighting peacock bass. I met Eddie at the ramp in Lake Ida park, shortly after launching the boat we went in search of the mighty peacock bass. Boy, oh boy, did we find the fish today. Eddie boated 18 fish in a short 4 hour period, and all the fish where 2 to 4 pounds. It was really a great trip for Eddie.

I am looking forword to fishing with Eddie in March once again.

Today I met up in the afternoon with Willy and his friend John. Willy is a fly fishing instructor and stuck to fly fishing all day, while John was pitching live bait to the key areas. Willy was putting the fly every where I asked him, I said…put it under the tree, he did it.

In just four short hours I had these two guys out they caught 17 fish, with a mix of peacock bass and largemouth. Willy is planning on being back next month.

South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Today I took Julie Futscher and her son Robert from Moores Hill, IN out for some hard fighting fun in the sun. It was a great day on the water, they boated 21 bass in a 6 hour super half day trip. Robert had one on about 6 pounds and it went around a piling and broke the line, what a heart breaker. But that’s what fishing is all about, you catch some and loose some.

All said and done it was another great day on the water.

Florida Peacock Bass Fishing

WOW…is the first words that come to mind when describing this trip, I think the picture puts it all in perspective!

Dave Harmond from Palm Beach had family in from England for the pass two weeks and have been Florida fishing with very little success. Dave got referred to us and called wanting to get the family out “catching” fish, as they were leaving town the following day.

Dave brought his father, brother-in-law and his two kids out on two of our boats for a super-half (6 hours) day of fishing. I explain to Dave about the fishing conditions and what was going to be needed, he then explained to me that his dad and brother-in-law were avid fishermen, but the rest of the family had never fished at all.

With that in mind I decided to take the kids and brother-in-law, while Capt Tony took Dave and his father. The day started out right on time and quite well for Tony and his crew with about 10 fish in the boat with in the first hour are so. Mean while I realized it was not going to be as easy with my crew, giving credit to those guys they were much more experienced and the technique we were using was a little difficult for beginners to pickup on right away. But as I have away said, this is what being a excellent fishing guide is really all about, so I continued to support them as I nodded my head and laughed as another fish got away.

I then decided to yelled out, let the challenge begin. They replied, what are talking about? A friendly competition among us, as I explained and the youngest that had never caught a fish in his life, but is very active in Football (Soccer in England) said okay. The game worked, there competitive spirit seem to take over and at the same time take the focus away from needing to catch a fish, to wanting too.

I think sometimes we can just simply try to hard and goof things all up. It seem like just minutes passed by and they started catching bass, one by one, we worked together. Wouldn’t know it, that Trever the youngest, would catch the most bass and anchors his 10 bass with a 7lb large-mouth bass, the biggest fish of his life and the day.

When it was all said and done, both boats boated over 50 bass a combination of largemouth and peacock bass and again I thing the picture is worth a thousand words.

Florida Freshwater Fishing Trip Bachelor Party

Florida Peacock Bachelor Party

Today we had the pleasure of taking out a bachelor party for a Florida freshwater fishing excursion. With the storms in the area, they did not want to risk an offshore fishing trip and have it spoiled by large seas and no fish. So, they called us with the idea of hosting there bachelor party for 7 people guys who love to have fun. We suggested  with strong winds to focus on the South Florida canals, they agreed. They decided to hire three of our guides to go bass fishing for the day, so Capt Brett , Tony and Bobby decided to take them to Lake Ida in Palm Beach County.

What can we say that the picture doesn’t, other then these guys ended up “stroking” the peacock bass, there group ended up catching over 70 peacock bass. As they said, it would of never happen like this offshore!
