We all know when the cold fronts come you have great days and  not so great
days. Well today was a extra great day for the Fox family.

The day started with the first bait in the water getting hit before the second bait got to
settled in the water. We had two boats fishing on Lake Toho for a total of 40 + fish.

A nice 9 lb. large-mouth Florida stain blank bass made up the kicker fish, followed by a 8lb beast and good looking 6.5lb trophy.

Not a bad day for a cold front!

On June 24, 2009 the Sandor family, Gary , Wendy and there son Travis set out for a Orlando fishing trip for six hours. What we reffer to as a super half day.  Travis started the day and trip with a real lunker, pictured above.

To catch such a fish in ones youth, sets the bar high for his next trip.

My name is Sean Kent, and on June 9, 2009 my son (7) seven year old Jacob and I had a half day trip with Captain John. Our morning fishing trip on Lake Toho could not have been any more perfect then it was. My son had only fished for trout in a small pond where we live in PA. He has caught some good size trout for his age group. This trip was his introduction into Bass fishing, and I was looking forward to seeing him catch some largemouth bass. I was not expecting him to catch the size of Bass that he did.

His first Bass was approximately 8lbs and his fourth fish of the morning was a trophy 11 pounder. I was so proud to see him fight the fish all the way to the boat and then when the Bass was in the boat for him to turn to me and say “that is a huge one, I won mine is the biggest” during the same time he was bring in the Big One, I was bringing in an 8 pounder of my own.

Since the day ended till the trip home on the 13th he has not stopped talking about how he wants to be a fishing captain just like Captain John. My son and I had a great time and we plan on returning and having Captain John take us on another great trip. Our next trip will have to include my father inlaw who is an avid hunter and fisherman who needs to see what it is like to catch an absolute giant of a Bass.

Thank you for a great trip and a fantastic bonding moment with my son that I will never forget and I am sure he won’t either. Captain John I look forward to doing this again next time I am in the Central Florida area.

Take a day to get off the beaten path with a trip to the quaint, brick-lined town of Winter Park. Stroll down Park Avenue with its upscale boutiques and restaurants, and be sure to sample the famous chocolate popcorn at Peterbrook Chocolatier. Have lunch at Caf de France, a favorite with locals who appreciate its authentic French food and excellent service.

After lunch, visit The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, which is home to the worlds most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including an elaborate chapel interior. End your relaxing day with a scenic one-hour boat tour on Lake Osceola.

Whether you plan to ride every theme park ride, explore the cultured side of the city or simply cocoon yourself at a luxury resort or enjoy a day of bass fishing on of the lakes, Orlando has it all!

Lake Toho and other Central Florida lakes have had there hot moments with bass up to 10 1/2 pounds over the past couple of weeks after a spotty stretch in May and early June.

Try Lake Toho, Lake Kissimmee and Cypress Lake for quality largemouth bass. Morning bite, useing plastic toads near reeds and hydrilla at first light. Zara Spook topwater lures will also produce big strikes. Switch to spinnerbaits with wind and plastic worms at mid-morning. The bite has been off in the heat of the day but picks back up in the afternoon and through the first few hours of darkness if you are interested in night fishing. Switching back to plastic toads and topwaters during this time will create more bites. . . . Use crickets, redworms and small poppers for bluegills, shellcrackers and bream.

Tournament fishermen and our guides are targeting pockets of clean water with fresh green hydrilla in the open water. There are massive spraying operation all over the lake, so stay away from the killed or freshly sprayed hydrilla. This pattern has lead to boating a large number of bass and several trophy bass 7 to 10 pounds. The bigger fish seem to be stacking up when you find the hydrilla clump there living in.  When fishing these clumps, searching with plastic worms seem to be the hot thing. The bigger the better, a 10″ or even 12″ worn seems to be the hot ticket in dark colors, like black and junebug.

Other variety affective techniques in the hydrilla include – lipless crankbaits, Horny Toads and topwater plugs. Some other bass are coming off of casting swim-baits. Seem the average bass is larger on swimbaits, but at times so are the strikes.

If I had to guess I would say, that the fresh green hydrilla is holding 50 percent of the fish in most of the Central Florida lakes right now.
