Peacock Bass Fishing Report, Florida

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

South Florida Peacock bass Today I had out Meck Austin from Kansas City, Mo. Meck is here on business and staying at one of our popular Ft Lauderdale hotels and wanted to get for a half day of Peacock bass fishing.

We started around 6:30am and headed out to the fishing spot, knowing Meck only had a few hours we went right to the best fish I had. Once on the water and going through a few sample cast with Meck, he was all over the peacock bass. Almost four cast in a row, Meck had peacock bass on and was loving it!

About two hours into the trip Meck looks at me and says, “how about after the next fish we start heading back.” So, I looked up the bank and said, “cast right by that pipe.” and he did. Almost instantly he was hooked up for yet another Peacock bass fishing picture.

We boated 15 Peacock bass and spent less then 2 1/2 hours on the water. So, it’s safe to say, “if you have a few hours and your on business in the South Florida area” give me a call, let’s “hook up” for a few hours and go fishing.

Peacock Bass Fishing in Miami

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

frank-and-shawn-002.jpg Today I have the pleasure of taking Frank and Shawn from Philly, PA. They are fishing with us for three days, today they decided to go after peacock bass in Miami.

The early morning was the best bite on artifical lures, I have not seen it this good in a while. We caught a few peacocks in the lakes and decided to move to some other spot that I have been producing numbers for me. When we got there, the bite was on with shiners. As the day went on, the rains started to get really bad. So, we went to take shelter at a bridge and while we were waiting we decided to fish under it. Great move, first we hooked a snook and then tarpon. The rain never slowed down, so we decided to call it a day. I do have Frank and Shawn for two more days. Today we ended with 14 peacocks, 1 tarpon, 1 snook and 1 largemouth.

Check out our Florida Peacock bass website for more additional information.

2 Days Florida Peacock & Largemouth Bass

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Florida Largemouth & Peacock bassToday I had the pleasure of being with Erica & Rick Skier from Palmdale, CA for two days of South Florida bass fishing. The first day of two days we picked them up at the Hard Rock Casino and Resort and then drove to the dock. When we left the dock in Miami this morning we decided to fish for Peacock bass, this is why they traveled from California.

We ran way south of the boat ramp and fished around the mouth of mainly bridges and some canals. The bait we were using were live shiners and for artificial we threw top-water , jerk baits and rattle traps. Within minutes of our first cast Erica scored with a few nice Peacock bass. As the morning went on we caught several more with a few nice ones. This day of fishing in the Miami area was filled with a lot of stories and action.

After a nice lunch at one the local watering holes, we were back on the trailer and headed to the Hard Rock.Everglades Holiday park

On day two, I arrived at the Hard Rock Casino & Resort where they were right on time and ready to experience the Florida Everglades, as they have heard so much about.

We arrived at Everglades Holiday Park and headed out to my first location. being it was the weekend and fathers day there was a noticeable increase in boat traffic. So, we decided to make a few moves which paid off for the most part. Both, Erica & Rick caught fish at every location we stopped at, including a few bowfin which Erica seem to enjoy a lot.

Florida Peacock Bass Report

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Today we were very fortunate to have out the Powell Family which is based out of Austin, TX. There boys decided it would Florida Peacock bassbe a great fathers day present to take day dad to South Florida for Peacock bass fishing. Dad and the whole family were pretty excited about catching them, ever since they were in Hawaii several years ago and got a sample of the hard fighting Peacock. So, as a family they all decided Florida would be a great fishing vacation and a good place to catch more peacock bass at an affordable cost.

By the time they booked the trip, there ended up being four of them. The two boys and Mom and dad. Capt Brett and myself met them at the tackle shop and transported everyone to our first location for some Peacock bass fun. To our surprise the fishing started out slow, the water had risen from resent rains and the runoff created dirty water throughout the fishery.

After picking up a few small fish first thing in the morning, Capt Brett and myself decided to make a boldPEACOCK BASS FLORIDA move. From our past experience, the fishing does not get much better in these conditions and this family only had one day. So we needed to make some major changes. Off we went in to the jungle of South Miami, in and out of lakes and canals till we settle on a old spot we both had fished several times before in this situation. A motto of ours is, “A great guide, is a guide that makes a good day, out of a very bad day of fishing.” We felt like we accomplished exactly that on this day!

It’s safe to say, this was the right move on this day. Between the both boats we boated over 60 Florida Peacock bass with some real quality ones coming late in the day. It was “dad’s day” as he boated over 20 peacock bass by himself with several of them over 4 pounds. But, it was Mom that took the wind out of everyones sails by boating late in the day a Peacock bass weighting nearly 7 lbs.

All in all, it was a great day for the Powell family and for us a well. This is a true fishing family, they enjoy and truly know how to get the most out of a day on the water.

I look forward to talking fishing with all of you!
