Today I took out Brian McCully and his girlfriend from Wallingford, Pa. Brian wanted to experience the Everglades flats fishing, so of we went way out in the everglades flats. Brian was mostly interested in try to get top water bites, so I we tied multi able different buzz frogs and some hollow body frogs as well..
Right at the very beginning Brian’s girlfriend had a “big” bass try to grab her buzz frog. This fish kept trying to get her bait all the way back to the boat, when it saw almost at the boat it turned and swam into a clump of weeds. Everyone got to see the fish turn and swim away, I would be guessing that it would have went 8 to 9lbs. The rest of the day was kind of slow but they wound up boating 5 or 6 largemouth bass.
With all of the recent rain the water came way up. I think once things stabilize out there the bite will be red hot in the flats!

Today I had the pleasure of taking out the Pagnotta family in the Florida Everglades. What a good day we had, we fished for everything that would bite from gar, bowfin, bluegill and of coarse largemouth bass. We caught it all, the kids were realy good at fishing and by the end of trip we caught over fifty fish of all types.
What a fun day of fishing with the kids I had!

Today experience was a really cool one, the weather was anything but cool with water temps at 89 degrees. The cool part was fishing with the Crocker brothers, Ben and Jon.
Jon lives in Massachusetts and Ben in Africa, both are doctors and oh I almost forgot to tell you, they are twins. Ben was on his way from Africa to a training class and called Jon to meet him in Miami for a few days of RNR.
Ben has fished in the Everglades before and really enjoyed it. Both brothers were good fishermen, as always it took them a few cast and bites to adjust to our fishing style. Unfortunately how many times has it happen, Ben’s first bite is his best opportunity at the biggest bass of his life. He had the fish on for a few minutes, then it gave him that traditional large-mouth bass wave as it shook loose and swam away. What a heart breaker, as everyone got to see the fish which was estimated to be in the 8lb class which only made things worse.
As all good anglers do, Ben had to just keep on casting in search of his next bite. His brother Jon on the other hand, proceeded to catch back to back a 4 and 5lb bass which for the moment made all of use forget about the monster that got away.
I would consister the fishing a little slower then I like to see it, with the day high and bright, blue bird all day, water temps at 89 and no wind. We welcomed the rain shower as we were pulled the boat out of the ramp.
Overall, the day was a success, as we had 2 fish estimated over 8lbs on and several in the 5lb class and only two fish caught less then 2 pounds each, did I mention we also got to solve all of the world issues at the same time!…. lol

Today once again, that’s right. Just here in May 2008 and back for more Mike Koziol all the way from Palos Park, IL. Mike and I had a great trip and swapped several stories last time he was here. I new he would be back, but never thought so soon.
With the water up in the Everglades most other guides services are complaining there not catching fish and believe me there not. So I really wanted Mike to have another great trip with Mike, I know the conversation would be good but I needed to locate quality bass to ensure our success.
Mike met me at 6:00am, actually his wife dropped him off, introduced herself and said, “you guys are crazy getting up this early.” Boy, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I would take everyone fishing for FREE…ha-ha.
As we headed out, I ask Mike if he was up for adventure and of coarse he yes…that’s all I needed to hear and we were off. After a nice ride and good conversation we got to the boat ramp put the boat in and away we went. A 10 minute ride out to the first location and we started fishing.
We started with top-water of coarse and it wasn’t long at all before Mike was hooked up on a bass. Mike’s first fish weight-in around 4 lbs, it was a great way to start the morning. As the day progressed to bright blue bird skies, Mike wanted to say with topwater despite what I said. I tried several other lures with some success, but Mike stayed with top-water continuing to get strikes. As the day became brighter the fish were starting to short strike his lure, but “die hard Mike” stay with it and I am glad he did.
Midway through the afternoon, cloud cover started to appear. The cloudier it got the better the bite became. With the storms approaching we decided to get close to the boat ramp for a quick exit if needed and what a great choice it was. The rain came from all side, but only provided sprinkles at best for us. As you can imagine the fishing only got better with the cool air and added winds.
Mike ended the day with a 5 and 6 lb largemouth bass back to back, on topwater of coarse. In bass fishing, every day is a new day and on this day presidency paid off!
I had a another outstanding day with Mike, we fished hard and worked for every bite but it was worth it in the end.
I can’t wait till next time…thanks again Mike for another great day.

Capt Todd

Today I had out return customer Bob and his friend Steve from popular Danbury, CT. Last time down they fished with Capt Mark Shepard on Lake Okeechobee and had great success on wild shiners. So today I decided t take them deep in to the Everglades for some fast action largemouth bass on artificial baits.
First thing in the morning we were checked by the Broward County sheriffs, really nice guy. He checked everything, including Florida fishing license…hey and we passed with flying colors. After blasting off, we slowed and landed at the first location starting with topwater action. I don’t know if it was the morning bite that we missed or the full moon, but there was not much of a topwater bite at all. Sometimes, you just need to go with the flow and not try to force feed them and that’s just what we did.
After a few line size adjustments, we found the combination that worked. once again our Danbury, CT crew had another successful trip boating around 25 bass in 4 hours. For all of you guys and girls in CT, we really appreciate all the support and business you provide us.
Cannot wait to see these two back for another round, we had a great time!
I look forward to talking fishing with all of you!
Tight Lines,
Capt Todd

Today was a very special day. It was a young man’s birthday, his name was Hagan. He turned 10 years old today and let me tell you, he’s a very good fisherman. His casting capabilities would make some adults jealous.
Today fishing with him was his sister, Cameron. Who was only seven years old, could fish and cast very good as well. With them today was their grandfather, Charles. They fished all day with artificial baits only. It was a great thing to see these kids casting and catching all on their own.
I sure enjoyed spending the day with all of them, they were very well mannered and nice to be with. The fishing in the Florida Everglades was pretty good with nice steady action. No giants, but some nice quality ones. Man, I have got to tell you, “there’s nothing like taking a kid fishing.” And we all should remember one thing, that they’re only a kid once. So, don’t miss the chance to a take your child fishing.

Good fishing,
