323-004

Today I had the pleasure of taking out long time repeat customers Bill, Steve and Larry. They have been really good customers of mine and some how I always managed to get them on a good amount of fish, it probably has a lot to do with how well they fish, it makes it easy on me.

We had a few quality fish as you can see in the about photo. We only had a short time to fish today, althought it always goes by really fast,  in the short time we caught up to twenty fish with a 3 pounds being the biggest.

Till next time tight lines and good fishing….

Florida Everglades – 1/12/09

Everglades Bass Fishing

Everglades Bass Fishing

Fishing in the Everglades has been good over the last few weeks. One of the trips was with a return client Corey Rigberg, his son Daniel and Harry Tangalakis. Last year Corey caught a 11.3lb trophy bass, it was a 27in bass.

This year the action was great, they had a little competition with each other with the combined bass caught of 87 largemouth bass. I have had some fun trips here lately, this was another one of those fun trips!

Another fun trip was with Kyle Reid and his son Justin 7 (pictured above). I enjoyed watching them catch catch these Florida bass and was a pleasure to spend the day with them.

We are having lots of fun in south Florida.

I look forward to see these guy again.

Till next time tight lines and good fishing….

Everglades Bass Fishing 1-8-09

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Thursday I took out Jim Root and two of his buddies. We went out into the everglades for some largemouth bass action, and that’s what we got a lot of. The action right is on from the first cast to your last.

Sorry to say, you know the old story, ”the big one got away.” But this time it did, what a great day of fishing. All together the guys boated between 30 to 40 fish in just a half day trip (4 hours) of fishing.

If you have a child or a wife that you would love to get “hooked” on fishing, this is the time to take them. The action good, morning or afternoon. We guide 7 days a week, so let’s go fishin!

State Lawmakers Plan Sugar Land Hearing

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

State lawmakers in Miami-Dade County are questioning the wisdom of the state’s planned $1.34 billion buyout of U.S. Sugar Corp.

A press release from state Rep. Juan Zapata, R-Miami, chairman of the Miami-Dade legislative delegation, said the delegation of lawmakers has serious concerns about the expense and effectiveness of the buyout, which is designed to restore a natural flow-way of water between Lake Okeechobee and the southern Everglades.

The lawmakers announced their own public hearing, to be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, to gather input on the sale of land to the South Florida Water Management District.

The hearing will be at the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, 3790 N.W. 21st St., in Miami.

According to the press release, Zapata sent a letter expressing concerns and inviting water district officials to brief lawmakers. The district’s governing board is set to vote on the buyout Dec. 16. U.S. Sugar’s board approved the sale contract Monday.

“Although we are all supportive of the Everglades restoration and restoring its natural flow, several members have expressed serious doubt whether this is the correct action to take at this time,” Zapata said in the release.

State Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, said in the release he has “grave concerns with the concept of an unelected board spending over $1 billion of taxpayer funds on land at a time when I’m having to tell social service, health care and education providers that we’re making major cuts that will affect our most vulnerable citizens.”

Meanwhile the U.S. Sugar board’s approval of the sale was blasted by The Lawrence Group of Tennessee, which has attempted to make a competing offer to buy the sugar giant in its entirety.

A press release from The Lawrence Group expressed “surprise and extreme disappointment at the announcement yesterday that the Board of Directors of United States Sugar Corporation had approved the contract.”

Everglades Fishing Fun 6-10-08

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Everglades Fishing Photo Today was a very special day. It was a young man’s birthday, his name was Hagan. He turned 10 years old today and let me tell you, he’s a very good fisherman. His casting capabilities would make some adults jealous.

Today fishing with him was his sister, Cameron. Who was only seven years old, could fish and cast very good as well. With them today was their grandfather, Charles. They fished all day with artificial baits only. It was a great thing to see these kids casting and catching all on their own.

I sure enjoyed spending the day with all of them, they were very well mannered and nice to be with. The fishing in the Florida Everglades was pretty good with nice steady action. No giants, but some nice quality ones. Man, I have got to tell you, “there’s nothing like taking a kid fishing.” And we all should remember one thing, that they’re only a kid once. So, don’t miss the chance to a take your child fishing.
